Yeah, downloads from megaupload are always pretty slow.
took me a minute and a half :/

a couple tracks were pretty boring but overall I liked it I don't see what you're complaining about.

Microwave meals & ideals 05-27-2006 05:33 AM

It took a bit of getting into, but overall I think its a pretty good album. Yeh also megaupload usually runs pretty quickly for me...

JamJar 05-30-2006 10:18 AM

Hey, I've been an AFI fan for the past three years now and I saw them live in London last Thursday (amazing show). I bought the new album yesterday and although it is good, it is nowhere near as good as The Art Of Drowning or Black Sails In The Sunset. My favourites from the new album are probably The Missing Frame and Endlessly, She Said.

TojesDolan 06-02-2006 07:48 PM

By far what I've heard of the album (eh just the single "Miss Murder", who am I fooling), They seem to be going back to the style in BSITS or TAOD, or some sort of strange mixture of old-style AFI with the darker side of Sing the sorrow. It's a good twist, though. I expected it to be different than the last one, anyways.

What really worries me is the rather disturbing blue shade Davey has in the video. I mean, black is gothic and all that... but blue!??!

Yeah.

Liebensaft 06-02-2006 08:39 PM

In the video he reminds me of Hitler.

But seriously...

Who the hell are you?
HOLY CRAP IT'S DUSTIN.

I don't rememer if I've already said this in the thread, but the new album is insanely disappointing. There are probably only 3 songs that I don't really mind listening to. Notice how I didn't say "like".

Fire Away 06-03-2006 01:56 AM
In the video he reminds me of Hitler.
Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it.

New album rocks. And thanks for that Trimblio!

Subvert_bassist 06-05-2006 01:19 PM

I've come to the conclusion that every thread with "The Official..." in the title sucks.

Brain Toad 06-05-2006 04:40 PM

Davey's hair frightens me
I've come to the conclusion that every thread with "The Official..." in the title sucks.
Good for you. I think having a thousand threads on one band sucks.

imnotamusician 06-05-2006 05:53 PM

which album does Lower It belong to?

Pizza 06-05-2006 06:56 PM

it is on the vinyl version of Black Sails In The Sunset. You can also find it on the retrospective disc that Nitro put out.

Subvert_bassist 06-05-2006 10:38 PM
Good for you. I think having a thousand threads on one band sucks.
Well, agreed, but if members were smarter and just used already-made threads, you wouldn't need to put the word "Official" in there anywhere.

Sep 06-06-2006 12:17 AM

If anyone got this album from Itunes, would you mind uploading the songs On The Arrow and the Jack The Ripper cover?

RetiredAt21 06-06-2006 07:43 AM

I don't like the new AFI at all. :(

You never saw the one where he's kissing a guy onstage? I think it's RJ that he's kissing actually....lemme see if I can find it....nope...it's out there though

Well, he says he's not gay. So, let's believe him. He never said anything about if he's bi or pansexual though. But uh what's your point? Doesn't change his pretty voice ^_^

Apparently not long enough. Dustin's been in this thread since it started but disappeared for a while. I believe it was his idea that when we hit 1000 posts it should mark the time for it to be "official". He's where I got the full version of the Chicken Song to complete my rare-afi-tracks thing. I'm not complete anymore, though. I need these 2 iTunes tracks!

imnotamusician 06-06-2006 04:00 PM

...i just got decemberunderground (regular u.s. version) a few hours ago, it disappointed me.

maco 06-07-2006 07:46 PM

I like the new stuff. I read that review on here of it. The reviewer seemed disappointed at how much drums and bass are emphasized more than guitar, but in my opinion "you can never have too much bass".

Reaganista 06-07-2006 09:45 PM

yeah you can

nightbringer 06-08-2006 08:32 AM

The cd is very good. However it is not flawless.

maco 06-08-2006 10:37 AM
yeah you can
techno?

skinnypuppy 06-08-2006 06:15 PM

ive only listened to the first half of the cd, but it seems like they take a lot of oldschool afi elements and add it to nuschool afi. its not a bad outcome.

^ hahaa wtf thats davey?

good rats 06-09-2006 07:57 AM

Eh, the new album is nothing great.

maco 06-09-2006 02:05 PM

Yeah, that's Davey. I have the poster. It's a fake right hand, I think. Don't worry, he's not wearing a dress, it's capris. Don't the f'uck-me shoes add a nice touch?

ibanezman575 06-09-2006 02:35 PM

how come davey totally looks like a chick now

maco 06-09-2006 03:40 PM

Cuz he likes the Cure a little too much? For that matter, what he looks like is Robert Smith with better hair.

Microwave meals & ideals 06-10-2006 04:56 AM

And a much slimmer waste line. Robert Smith has let himself go. Incedently one of my first thoughts when listening to Decemberunderground was that some of theses tracks could easily pass for Cure songs.

dirtypirate337 06-13-2006 04:17 PM

Davey isn't gay. Even if he was, wouldn't change the band at all.

I like the new album. It's different but good. However, I don't like The Missing Frame, 37mm, or The Killing Lights. They're just too 80's for me.

The Cure is totally hetero.

ZaaR 06-14-2006 05:27 PM

i'm seeing them tomorrow with dillinger escape plan. anyone else in the toronto area going?

imnotamusician 06-15-2006 05:55 PM

Dillinger Escape Plan can eat my big steaming pile of sh*t.

...anyways, AFI is getting really really big.

exhibit A:

ZaaR 06-16-2006 01:51 PM

the show last night was bloody amazing. nightmare of you were OK, nothing special... they couldn't really get the crowd going.

then dillinger escape plan came on and fucking stole the show. they put on one of the best performances i have ever seen. they had strobe lights going in time with their music and it made all my senses come together. it was a very neat experience. the pit was very fun for them

afi came on after about a 30 minute wait. they were worth it though. they played a mixture of all their stuff, but mostly their stuff of december underground and sing the sorrow. davey acts very feminine on stage, but i think all around they put on a great performance. davey actually song an entire song standing on the crowd which i found cool.

overall it was an amazing show. i enjoyed afi the most, but i personally think dillinger had the best stage presence and got the crowd going for afi.

nightbringer 06-17-2006 04:50 PM

I have tickets for the nottingham and birmingham shows :)
