and P.S I am grabbing the neck of Pete's broken guitar
ha! Yeah. Baba is a great and unique song. Very original. Many overlook that...

They are actually auctioning off his "last" broken guitar. For charity. Signed and mounted, I believe. Broke it at a Japanese gig a couple years back. I saw a tape of it. He knocked the crap out of it. Roger looked amused. Or perhaps bemused? Poor Pete. He went to give it one final shot as it dropped over his monitor and it feedbacked like crazy. Pete actually covered his ears in pain. Never saw him do that before.

I'm feeling kinda bummed for Lunch. I mean I know he'll make it through, but godammit it would suck if it were me. They gotta play D.C.! :(

Wishing you luck, my friend....

Lunch 07-15-2006 08:52 AM

I'm going to ask for expert advice here. Do you think I shoud try and wait for more dates or try to get tickets now to a show that will be tough for me to go to? Are any of the Canadian cities close to Michigan?

Broken Arrow 07-15-2006 10:05 AM

Um. Where I live (across the lake from Michigan) It takes about two hours to get to Sarnia, which is right across from Port Huron MI. They play in London (the gig I'm going to) which is two hours southeast from me. From Sarnia to London it would take 45 minutes maybe. Not sure how close you are to Port Huron though.

dr._feelgood 07-15-2006 10:58 AM

I want to go to the Jones Beach show really bad, but I don't know if I'll be able to get tickets and I know once the scalpers get them the prices will skyrocket.

That's a tough one, Lunch. This is the last go around, but making a gig miles away can take planning and time. Transportation and a schedule need to be worked out. And even if driving it's bound to be a 24 hour ordeal of getting ready to go, going, setting up while there for a nice time, and returning. I've seen an updated schedule that includes some west coast dates (Los Angeles area early November, w00t!) but the listed dates are so sporadic it's hard what to make of the schedule at all. This is supposed to be a "major" world tour. Apparently the gigs thus far have been consisdered warm-ups by the band. I can't be certain, and you know the D.C. area whereas I have no idea of it, but if it's a rock n roll concert town at all I would say they will touch down there. Just my opinion. Perhaps you can contact the promoter or someone associated? May not be hard to do.

StreetlightRock 07-17-2006 06:00 AM

So... how awsome is the bass on The Real Me? Just listeing to it, and it absolutely makes the song.

Lunch 07-17-2006 08:19 AM

One of the top rock bass performances ever. Probably only behind 5:15 live.

My only real option is to wait and hope they schedule some dates around me. I'll be at Michigan when they are in Philly anyway so that won't be a reasonable option, and trying to get to any of the Canada shows would be way too much of a hassle.

Ephemeral 07-17-2006 09:50 AM

Have you seen them before, Lunch?

Lunch 07-17-2006 09:51 AM

No....

It's not fair that they should skip one of the biggest Whoheads

rockinbass17 07-17-2006 10:03 AM

I got my Jones Beach tickets today. Mad expensive, but who cares?

blue3 07-17-2006 10:13 AM

Holy shit. My friend got me floor tickets for The Who for 140 dollars! I don't have thaat much money.

Lunch 07-17-2006 10:42 AM

Get a job then, because it's floor tickets to the Who.

The WHO!

blue3 07-17-2006 10:47 AM

I do have a job.. at McDicks! So I basically get no money. But you're right.. it's THE WHO!

Lunch 07-17-2006 10:51 AM

You just complained about having floor tickets to the Who. Buck up soldier and find a way to pay for them.

blue3 07-17-2006 10:57 AM

haha.. it's cause you're not seeing them.

Lunch 07-17-2006 11:00 AM

You're right, it is.

Seafroggys 07-17-2006 09:20 PM

tickets go on sale August 5.....for here at least

RockAndRoll 07-17-2006 09:24 PM

I've got tickets already!

PremierManiac 07-17-2006 10:48 PM

I might be seeing the Who in Chicago (9/25/06)!

It all depends on whether or not my brother can afford tickets, since I'm not a legal adult, and he's the only adult that would want to go with me. Wish me luck.

Dragon_Prince 07-18-2006 02:27 AM

Do you need adults to go to concert? :S
I went to a concert when I was uhhm what was it 15 with m nevew who wasn't an adult too ... Here you can go too concerts when you want it :P

blue3 07-18-2006 11:23 AM

That's weird. I'm going to the Who concert with a group of 14-15 year olds.

Broken Arrow 07-18-2006 12:01 PM
I've got tickets already!
Hey rock! Long time no see.

This is Livewired by the way.

I'm going to the same show.

And usually only club shows are 19+ around here, and even that's not always the case. I'm going to this concert with my cousin who's also 16.

Kaleidoscope Eyes 07-18-2006 12:50 PM

I'll be rockin' the Loge at TD Banknorth Garden. The tickets are almost as expensive as the bus from college to Boston

And as for Lunch, I think there's alot of hope. The southernmost date they have is in NJ. They are missing some serious locations like Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta, Pheonix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and yet they have great coverage of Canada, which leads me to beleive that they plan on covering the states just as well

No no, I've been to concerts too. What I meant was that to get there I'd have to cross state lines (not a big deal though) and get a hotel room for the night, which requires an adult.

Dragon_Prince 07-18-2006 11:59 PM

Gehe you can also just stay awake one night ;) did it once, never'll do it again, espacially because I had to work with no sleep

This is great that The Who can play with this line-up. I can't think of another band from their era that would be asked to. And playing behind the Chili Peppers will make them want to kick out the jams. And all the other new bands playing. I don't know.... It's just great that they are respected among the fans and bands and people in general. Remembered and appreciated. The Stones couldn't do this. Nor Zeppelin. The Beatles could. That's it. And just 'cause they're the Beatles.

Anyway, congrats and have a good time. Hope you're not at school then :smoke:

EDIT: And perhaps a Who gig will be happening on anoither day/night. So check it out....

Lunch 07-19-2006 08:49 AM

I will be at Michigan, so now I'll have to make arrangements to come back for a weekend.

DAMN! Seeing those guys in the same show? I really want to go to that.

I'll be seeing Clapton on the same night in Detroit. /mixed emotions

JohnXDoesn't 07-19-2006 08:22 PM

Yeah. Fairly good line up. Should be a good day of music. And the one two punch of the Chili's and The Who? You know The Who are not going to want to be shown up in their older years. By the bands that came before in the day or the one that comes after. So I think they will do a great set.

Sell the Clapton ticket, maybe? Or maybe not....
