Cool. I heard a few songs from their album Viva Emptiness, but if I remember correctly that's a more recent one. Any particular albums/songs from their old stuff that you'd recommend?

CabbageStabbage 10-07-2006 10:13 PM

I'm 40 minutes in listening to the Corrupted song/album El Mundo Frio.

Very strange. The singer's growl is so awesome. Synth harp reminds me of running thru forests in Oblivion.

EDIT: Finished listening to it. Very unique.

Anything off Dance of December Souls.

I'm not huge on it, but I think that's what you're looking for.

Have you heard the non-bolded ones?

Shattered_Future 10-07-2006 11:56 PM

Man, I've listened to nothing but Bongzilla for the past few days. I never really realized how awesome stoner music is...

Apocalyptic Raids 10-08-2006 12:06 AM

They are all awesome. You should check out Orodruin's split with Reverend Bizarre, it's amazing.

You know the new Solitude Aeturnus comes out this year?

Christian Holocaust 10-08-2006 12:14 AM

Ras Algethi and Asphyx... more black/death but still quite stony.
I'm just getting into doom metal. My Dying Bride and Novembers Doom are easily my favorite doom bands, but I also really like Paradise Lost and Anathema (although I don't own any cds from them), Black Sabbath and High on Fire (I don't know if they count as doom, though). And some of the other doom bands I've heard are Candlemass, Cathedral, Count Raven and Electric Wizard. As you can probably tell, I prefer the doom-death style of MDB and ND over the "traditional" sound of bands like Candlemass. Any recommendations?
Forest of Shadows Where Dreams Turn To Dust EP is quite good.

the2stranger 10-08-2006 12:08 PM

^
Seconded.
Also the full-length is very much enjoyable.

Are their splits any good?

Poofy 666 10-08-2006 05:31 PM

Heh, they did a split with Discordance Axis

I have only heard Llenandose de Gusanos and El Mundo Frio though :(

the2stranger 10-08-2006 05:32 PM

Same here. :(
They did a lot of splits with grind bands actually, pretty weird. :-\

AA-12 10-08-2006 05:34 PM

I know I mentioned/whored them before, but has anyone check out Grivf yet? They're my favorite doom band.

the2stranger 10-08-2006 05:38 PM

I know Grief, never heard of Grivf.
What do you recommend?

AA-12 10-08-2006 05:50 PM

I was going to say all they had out was the demo, so that, but I just saw on M-A they released an album. If it's anything like the demo, it's ****ing epic :)

Yeah it certainly is very good. I'm not sure which is better out of Born Too Late or V though, too hard to decide.

np Saint Vitus - Angry Man
