There was this one DMX song that had a realy bass in it...can't remember what it's called.

Kandyman 07-28-2004 04:54 PM
Hehe.

I'm bored and so I'm looking at Warmoth.com. They'll sell you bodies with Tremolo routing done O_O And any routing you want and such...so I've been thinking about purchasing a body from them.

Can't decide on the woods :p So far I'm thinking Bubinga with Koa top and back, routed Precision + Dual Coil Jazz, with Hipshot Tremolo routing...gloss finish (no colors, natural look :)) What's a really beatiful wood for tops and backs?
I think Koa is absolutely beautiful, my next bass will have a flamed Koa top

:chug:

Foxfire 07-28-2004 04:54 PM

Okay :) I loooooove Koa. I love bubinga but don't like how it looks, truthfully...

Wintermute 07-28-2004 04:57 PM
Rub it in why dont you :upset:

Really legality never stopped me before.

:chug:
Ha, me neither. But still, it's nice to be able to smirk when asked for ID rather than making excuses.
:chug:

Kandyman 07-28-2004 05:00 PM

They have a picture of bubinga
http://www.warmoth.com/common/frames/bassbodies.htm

Personally I dont like it. Other good woods to me are mahogany and walnut.

:chug:

Foxfire 07-28-2004 05:05 PM

Yeah. I like the tonal qualities of Bubinga, though. The picture of Koa they have is beautiful imo...

Kandyman 07-28-2004 05:09 PM

I think it should be sound before appearance. And that koa is rather beautiful

:chug:

Foxfire 07-28-2004 05:10 PM

I agree :p That's why I want a Bubinga core (my favorite wood :p) with a Koa top and back. The Padouk looks nice too...nice brilliant orange.
if that's the case, i'll finnish how I started: I just find it annoying that this is the only thing you've taken part in in a good few months. Causual threads. You were doing good work... just not for a long time now.
*sigh*

Well, you might have missed it, but I created a thread two nights ago called "Going to school for bass?" Because it dawned on me, after arguing with you, and then answering another thread that had to do with double bass.. that no one really knows that most colleges don't offer an electric bass major...

Then there was the bass forum creativity thread... but you might not consider that bass related... although it isn't a casual "spam" thread... people have been posting their lyrics, poems and even their sketches and drawings.. which are **** good btw.

You also might not have known that I wasn't here for about two months, due to personal reasons, which I have appologized for. Technically.. I've been back for about three weeks or so...

I'm sorry you find this annoying. But as a heads up..I plan on keeping it up. Every week a new casual thread will be made... the old one locked. This is so that we don't have a absolutely huge thread, with people then trying to make it a goal to get to a certain number of pages.. which encourages spaming and posting just to up the page count.

Foxfire 07-28-2004 08:08 PM

Bubinga supposedly has "a good emphasis in the mid-bass, upper-treble, and top octave; there is a loss in lower midrange and upper bass presence." What wood do you think would help with the "lower midrange" and "upper bass"? I've heard that if you have a Carved top (5/8" / 3/4" thick, as opposed to normal laminate tops which are 1/8" thick) it will affect the sound decently, so I figure I could mix them sorta.

Thanks :p

For a second there I thought you guys were talking about the Philippines...

LightRaven 07-28-2004 08:10 PM
I know!!! There should be a comp between LR and Coffee. Nothing like good competition to make amends. what'ya think?
Um.. no.

That's like a "man's" way of settling things... "lets have a competition and see who's better.." which usually has nothing to do with the original argument. I don't want to "battle" coffee... shit, I don't even want to argue with him.

Drop the machismo battle thing guys... it's old, and abused.

To morpcat: I read it but I didn't realize it's possible to get that from "phillies".

I don't see how..

But then again, I live in Philadelphia, so when anything begins with Phil and has some form of y or ies on the end.. I guess I'm a stupid city-centric philadelphian?

eh....... O.o

Ruhtra 07-28-2004 08:30 PM

I kind of cheer for the Philadelphia Flyers... but that's because they have a couple amount of ex-Blackhawk players that I like, Jeremy Roenick and Tony Amonte. They're probably going to trade or release Amonte though.

What was that line, John LeClair, Eric Lindros and Mihkael Renberg; if my memory serves me correct? Too bad they couldn't beat the Red Wings.

Espbassor 07-28-2004 08:54 PM

Lindros teamed up with John Leclair and Mikael Renberg to form the fomous "Legion of Doom" line - a mix of scoring talent, and big, physical presence, a la the Broadstreet Bullies. The Flyers were divison champs in the lockout shortened season. They got past Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers in the playoffs, only to lose to that year's eventual Stanley Cup champs, the New Jersey Devils.
