You like St.Anger. You can't make negative sarcastic comments on another musical genre. |
Don't even make fun of emo when:
A) You have never even heard it B) You like St. Anger |
Sweet.
Guess who's seeing CTTS and Number 12 on Sunday?
im not seeing them on sunday (not CTTS, i wish though), but May 7th at my local roller kingdom, for $6, its gonna be sweet, if they show up. |

I made a thread about how everything is now "emo" and people are taking it seriously for some reason! I included a bunch of random objects and Taking Back Sunday as well, just to prove how ridiculous the list was. Please someone post there, but don't get into a serious argument. It's the Pit, after all. |
I hope my intervention will shut a couple of them up.

*smacks forehead* You did exactly what you weren't supposed to do, which was post a serious response. Granted, plenty of other people did the same thing, but you could have gotten things back on track! argh |
Let's see what I can do to mess it up a bit :|
|
I like your avatar Alexisonfire.
|
Be sure to pet it carefully, this kitty comes with unlimited ammo, a hidden flamethrower and is extremely well trained in the exquisite art of close-combat using it's razor sharp claws :)
Plus it's really emo, so you can't really predict what mood he's gonna be in. :amaze: :thumb: |
this is kinda a stupid question, but is Alexisonfire pronunced Alex is on fire or Alexis on fire? im guessing its not the latter one, but i figure you guys will know.
|
Alexis on fire.
|
I just read a review for a Orchid/The Red Scare/The Blood Brothers show.

Shut the hell up. It was crap and you know it. Anything after the S&M was crap. |

Fixed. |

And your point is? |
...He could've at least said a better Metallica album than St. Anger. That was the worst CD in the world.
|
And your point is?
Seemed cool. I thought people might be interested. Is that okay? |
Ok this is a rant against the whole "emocore" thing
Where the fuck did "emocore" come from? Doesn't "emo" already mean emotional hardcore, making emocore = emotional hardcore hardcore?? And I see people use "emocore" to describe bands that have no link whatsoever to emo, but rather sound like pop-punk. Could someone explain? Like if emocore is somewhat of a legit word or just a misconception that spawned from the wannabe emo noobs who take MTV's word as their bible? |
I use because of lack of better word. I use it for bands that are pop-punk with the occasional scream though it is faulty because as you said, they have no emo in them. That's why Dfelon is advocating the term popcore, which I have begun to use.
|
Rolling Stone is always wrong. I'm pretty sure they are the ones who started calling Taking Back Sunday "emo."
|
It was them that started "screamo" too, I believe. Them or Spin. Whatever, same thing.
|
Aaaah so the source of all evil is Rolling Stones heh?
I was always wondering what musical "authority" was popular enough to actually start trends with terms |
I know Guitar World's top 10 screamo albums had me tricked.
|
I was just reading in Rolling Stone and they said.. Hawthorne Heights I believe it was, was Screamo. It was either them or The Used. Either band being called Screamo is just as bad.
Who were Guitar World's top 10 screamo albums? I am thoroughly intrigued. |
1. Rites Of Spring- Rites Of Spring (off to a good start)
2. Quicksand- Slip 3. Refused- The Shape Of Punk To Come 4. Fugazi- In On The Kill Taker 5. Thursday- Full Collapse 6. Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary (I don't think they even scream on this album) 7. At The Drive-In- The Relationship Of Command 8. Poison The Well- The Opposite Of December 9. Glassjaw- Worship And Tribute 10. Boysetsfire- Ater The Eulogy Though they started off good, it ended up just being a list of bands that used screaming. |

So what the **** are Quicksand doing on that list? Slint, alright, but Quicksand?? I've heard people dub Slint 'emo,' which is sort of okay, when I listen to Spiderland I hear the 'emo' connection with all the arpeggios and spoken word stuff, but calling Quicksand screamo or even emo is tantemount to murder. |
It was a strange list. But it had me thinking I was the ultimate screamo fan.
|
as much as i love at the drive-in, to call them a screamo band seems very silly to me. in fact, calling any of the bands there screamo seems a tad odd.
i am aware everyone else has said this. but i thought i'd say it anyway. |
I agree with captain.
I've a question for torn. Did you pick your username because you like Yaphet Kotto a lot? I know it's a song by them. Just curious. |
