I'll have to check that out.

Got the new Emery EP last night. I'm expecting awesomeness.

interviewer02 10-28-2008 07:17 PM

Since Tom Araya is a christian, that makes Slayer a christian metal band. So yeah, they're my favorite.

I played in a Christian rock ensemble for about two months until I quit cause I wasn't really into the music and the direction they were taking.

Ended up hearing a lot of Christian rock that I never was into. I found Delirious to be a really good band at what they do.

TimJim 10-30-2008 08:50 AM

ugh delirious

david crowder band is where CCM is at

are you a new user or an alt

TheSyncopath 10-30-2008 11:59 AM

A new user as far as these forums are concerned. Also a newbie pretty much to Christian music, I was only in this band for two months, and had never listened to any Christian rock before that.

Generally my music tastes are quite diametrically opposite to that too.

Dimmu Burger 10-30-2008 02:22 PM

So I'll be singing with the praise band at my church on the 16th! I played bass for them for years and now I am sick of bass so I'm gonna sing for them once in awhile when my schedule permits. They're a really awesome and fun bunch of people, some of which I've known since I was a kid, so it should be quite enjoyable.

McP3000 10-30-2008 03:36 PM

thats really cool that you're doing that even though i hate 90% of praise music

only if you throw in random gutteral growls.

Dimmu Burger 10-30-2008 08:32 PM

Yeah I like some of it, but they do a lot of good songs. And yes I'll do some gutterals, but probably only at practice.

McP3000 10-30-2008 09:19 PM

that's awesome dude. i used to help lead a youth praise band at my church that did a whole bunch of stuff and actually went around doing gigs and stuff at other churches for youth group events... it was my first real full band experience and that's what really dipped my feet in the water for the more serious stuff. it's a lot of fun fo sho.

Dimmu Burger 11-03-2008 04:56 PM

Yeah it was the same for me. I got to learn how to play with a large group of people by playing in the praise band. I'm really looking forward to this. God really hooked me up with a good voice and this will be the first time I used it for him.

McP3000 11-03-2008 07:52 PM

ugh i wish i had a good voice :upset:

Dimmu Burger 11-04-2008 01:02 PM

Yeah here's an update. I don't know if the pastor is gonna let me sing with them now. He asked a friend of mine who sings in the band about my "lifestyle" and all this BS. He wanted my email address and said that he'll use me when they need me. This is why I don't go to church because of judgemental @$$holes. I doubt I'll do it now, even if they ask me to.

beans 11-04-2008 01:03 PM

The sole reason i hate mass religeon. jegemental as hell.

Dimmu Burger 11-04-2008 01:09 PM

Yeah I'm the same way. I told a guy at work that I would be singing with the praise band and he said "Well you better get that life together." I'm like WTF? You know nothing about my life and if you did you would see that the only bad thing I do is say curse words on occasion. I'm married and have a kid and I go out and play video games with my friends once a week and occasionally play in my band. Jesus H. Christ!

beans 11-04-2008 01:10 PM

seriously. biggest brainwash ever

Dimmu Burger 11-04-2008 01:13 PM

I mean I am a Christian, but I believe its a more personal thing. I don't push it on people and I don't judge people and get all holier than thou. I really hate that.

beans 11-04-2008 01:17 PM

i dont judge anyone who is or anything. most of my family are and i dont care if anyone is, i just really hate the idea of it.

we all judge others based on appearance because its the only thing we can go by.
the only thing you can do to break stereotypes is to be around them awhile until they see you aren't.

beans 11-04-2008 01:21 PM

religion is not an appearance. i cant tell by looking at someone that they believe in that.
