There is no such thing as a good Nirvana CD, but megadeth's Rust In Peace is pretty good
Don't be an *** in this thread.

Sliptallica, I would recommend only getting Nirvana's best of CD if you do end up getting anything. Nevermind is where most people start, but I got bored with that and no longer play it. You have a similar taste in music to me from what I've seen, and I think you would get bored with it as well. The best of is a decent mix of their recorded tracks and Unplugged segment.
can someone please recomend me some Kreator?
Coma of Souls is good. Pleasure to Kill is supposed to be.

Riva 04-04-2005 07:58 PM

Pleasure to Kill is definetly a good album.

Coma of Souls, I have it its great. From what I hear Pleasure to Kill is amazing, and Extreme Aggression is good too. Enemy of God is pretty good too, but get the others first.

heyheymymy 04-04-2005 09:50 PM

Please reccomend me an In Flames album

Whoacle or The Jester Race.

dUSK 04-04-2005 09:53 PM

^ The Jesters Race is pretty good, I like it better than Whoracle. They are however, the only In Flames albums I have heard.

Riva 04-04-2005 09:53 PM

Whoracle is my favourite, though many would argue that Jester Race is their best.

If you go past The Jester Race, they become more Gothenburg, and less Melodeath.

You are thinking of the albums after Whoracle.

Either Either. I'm too busy being lazy to care. :)

I'm looking to get more into black metal. I haven't heard much at all so far, and the bass seems to be a lot less prominent for me to really like it. So, can someone recommend me some black metal bands that are fairly prominent in the bottom end? thanks in advance.

Black metal is a genre that hardly has any bass, so if that is something you are looking for in black metal it will probably not be something you will like.

Either you have to have it grow on you, or not listen to it at all.

dUSK 04-04-2005 10:39 PM

Yeah I'd been reading that one of the characteristics of the genre was the lack of bass. I was just hoping there might be something with a bit more in the lower ranges, just to break myself into the genre a little easier. Thanks anyway.

extreme_191 04-04-2005 10:45 PM

Emperor is amazing when it comes to black metal!

MAthiAS 04-04-2005 10:46 PM

I'd like some black metal recommendations myself, if you could.

I'll recommend some stuff for you two later, for now I am going to play a game.

Riva 04-04-2005 11:26 PM

I shall recommend some stuff then.

Melechesh - Djinn. Amazing album, by an amazing band. Great Black Metal, with a middle-eastern feel. More melodic, if you want a softer way into the genre.

Darkthrone - A Blaze In The Northern Sky. Possibly the quintessential black metal album, very good atmosphere.

Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Santhanas. One of my favourite albums. Very atmospheric, but the singing may annoy some.

Burzum - Det Som Engang Var. A very good start, if you are looking for musically beautiful black metal.

Gorgoroth - Pentagram. Perhaps not the best band, but I like them. :)

Hope that goes well for now.

Deicide n Jesus 04-05-2005 05:11 PM

Hmm...Black Metal Wise..

Panchrysia, i can't remember the name of their album but theres only one, so you can't really go wrong!

Thus Defiled, again can't really album names but they basically rule.

If you're into Black Metal with orchestra, Dimmu Borgir are great for it.

That's all I can think of for now, undoubtely I'll post some more soon.

3rdplanet 04-05-2005 05:18 PM

I'm looking for more bands which have a sounds similar to Biffy Clyro/Reuben.

Any recommendations?

For starting I always say Immortal, Emperor and Dissection. I find them to be perfect starting bands.

asshead27 04-05-2005 07:17 PM

if anybody is looking for a really good metalcore band, i'd recommend Misery Signals. normally i am into black/death metal, but for some reason i can't stop listening to these guys. i seriously encourage everyone to check them out

You'd probably like Kinesis and yourcodenameis:milo, and at a stretch, InMe.

It depends which songs of those bands you're talking about, but you should definitely check out Kinesis.

FlyingPaul_83 04-05-2005 07:45 PM

Is metal church worth listening to?

InMe....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewww. Don't enjoy yourcodenameis:milo either.

Will try Kinesis though.

EDIT: Oh dear Lord Kinesis are rubbish. Their drummer needs a slap. No offence.

Iai 04-05-2005 07:54 PM

I don't like YCNI:M or InMe either. Just going by the tastes of my Biffy-loving friends.

What Kinesis track(s) did you get?

3rdplanet 04-05-2005 07:58 PM

I downloaded the video for ...and They Obey from their website...was not impressed.

Trying another one now though. One Way Mirror this time.

Dude3 04-05-2005 08:06 PM

For whoever wanted the Nirvana suggestion, I am a much bigger fan of "Bleach", their first album, than all of their others. I think it is pretty good.
