That would be insane...

Okay I'm gonna learn a PF song this week which one should I learn?
Another Brick is easy.
As great as Dark Side/The Wall/WYWH, etc. are, I really enjoy early Floyd the most. Piper, Ummagumma, Meddle, Atom Heart. Genius.
I agree, today I listened to PATGOD all the way through with the lights on really dim in my room. It was pretty crazy, it's amazing that you can get such an experience from just a little grass and a cd. ;)

I would go with Sorrow, if you don't already know it.

It depends if you're talking about the solo also. "Breathe" is pretty easy, and it has cool chords. But some fun solos to play are "Time", "Hey You", "Comfortably Numb", "Have A Cigar", "Childhood's End", most of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", "Echoes" is cool, "Money", etc.

This thread's been kinda dead lately.

Does anyone else think that Meddle is a masterpiece of an album?

I'm currently listening to that album right now. Meddle is my favorite non-metal cd. I'm currently listening to San Tropez, it's very pleasurable to listen to and calming.

Deconstruction 02-14-2006 03:58 PM

I just listened to my vinyl original copy of a nice pair!!!

I do, but I believe Atom Heart Mother is the Floyd's best pre-DSotM album

Bah, PatGoD is their best Pres DSotM.

BigTrav415 02-14-2006 04:03 PM

Learn "Is there Anybody Out There?" right now. I mean it. Beautiful riff, especially on an acoustic, and it's between beginner and intermediate level I'd say. Awesome song.

I love how it starts out with a very meloncholy minor sound then progresses into a more uplifting major sound.

Pah.

How could that title not go to Meddle?

Broken Arrow 02-14-2006 06:57 PM

So haunting, it was one of the first things I learned how to play, except on bass rather than guitar.

I definetely. I know how to play that song on the guitar, it's awesome.

nobodyblossomsforever 02-14-2006 07:25 PM

I like the first song, In The Flesh, a bit more though. It has that classic rock feel to it.

TojesDolan 02-14-2006 07:52 PM

Playing... Pigs, is interesting. Playing... Breathe, it's an awesome feeling after everything comes along... Yeah floyd and the acid trips.

However, Comfortably numb is indeed the most fun to play.

Wow, that's pretty crazy.
Wow, that's pretty crazy.

I learned how to play the solo to The Thin Ice today, I love it.
If that happened here, there would certainly be flaming. A LOT.

What are you talking about?

Seriously, what are you talking about? I'm not being visiscious

The Thin Ice kicks ass, how would a flamefest take place?

Nice, I've seen it in a record store before, but dude charged 15 euro for it, if I remember right. Is it worth that price?

Oh yeah, I can play Is There Anybody Out There? too for the most part. And as I'm very much a beginner (I'm normally a percussionist), I'd say the song is really easy.

The first time I heard that song I was amazed when the major sound kicked in. That's the first Floyd song I learned on guitar.

Cool man, I imagine that's pretty rare. I haven't seen it anywhere.

Apparently I was rambling about a user saying he was "The Pink Floyd Messiah".

First of all, he would've gotten banned the first post or two for his status as a messiah. Then, a bunch of people would've gotten 3 day bans for laughing at his expense in an "x" thread he would've made. Then, in complete disregard of the comsecquences, he would've just left and keep us all in awe.

Yeah, the cover isn't in great condition and I have spun it yet but it looks coo lin my room beside "Obscured by Cloud" also on viynl.
Bah, PatGoD is their best album.
Fix'd++ ;)

Dried Muffin Remnants 02-15-2006 04:25 PM

Meh, PATGOD is okay, but their sound just gets so much better with Gilmour, IMO.

The brilliance of the songs on Meddle and the beautiful, conceptual DSOTM. Those two are a lot better.

MidnightRider 02-15-2006 04:44 PM

Eh, I don't like to compare PATGOD with Floyd's other work, I think it's in a class of it's own.

By going to their even earlier work.

When x=number of years since PatGoD, and y=quality, y=-x.

Atomic Rain 02-16-2006 01:30 PM

for those of you that like getting gilmour's sound...

What fuzz pedals do you use?

not "what did he use", cause those are all out of production; what do YOU use?

A fuzz face should work pretty well. In combination with a tubescreamer, it's like the fattest sound. Kinda like that sweet part when it hits the funky part of Echoes.
