Angry Balled Fists! 12-23-2005 11:11 AM

What about Rancid ?

I still love AM!, SFAFC was an amazing record imo, i'm listening to it now, it's great.

thepo 12-23-2005 11:12 AM

For seriously, nobody freaked out when Disco sounded completely different from RAR. What's the deal with THAT?

Flagjacket 12-23-2005 11:13 AM

Haha, nice.

Angry Balled Fists! 12-23-2005 11:24 AM

lmao, that's pretty funny.

It doesn't sound different to me, except the last song.

Flagjacket 12-23-2005 11:26 AM

Tonight We're Gonna Give It 35% sounded totally different then RAR. But I still love that song. And song for song, Disco is easily the besy thing they've put out.

Angry Balled Fists! 12-23-2005 11:31 AM

I don't have Disco :(

I'm somewhat gutted about what's happened, but if they do start sucking, i'll always have their old records to listen to.

AIRIC 12-23-2005 11:33 AM

Because Disco was amazing.

Iron Bug 12-23-2005 11:37 AM

As long as they dont start playing stadiums and s'hit, I'm totally cool with this. Plus Sire has held some really good bands.

Angry Balled Fists! 12-23-2005 11:48 AM

They have started playing stadiums:

Keep clicking, you'll see one wiht them playing a stadium.

Flagjacket 12-23-2005 11:59 AM

They opened for Green Day at Giants Stadium.

That was a couple of shows, I mean like stop touring clubs, that would blow.
They opened for Green Day at Giants Stadium.
How embarassing for them. I can't believe they would accept the offer to do that.
And as for the AM! "selling out" junk, well, we in the anarchist/activist community (in London anyway, though I am convinced this is everywhere) try to judge people by their deeds, not their words. Now if they sign on to a quasi-major record label, that's not selling out. The trick to a capitalist society is that to fight it you have to contribute to it in some way, however small and petty. But you can see how better publicity will help their cause. I do not believe that the end justifies the means, and the end they seem to be getting at is an end to capitalism, even though it means contributing to the system in a larger scale. It works, and it has its plus-sides (end justifying means, that is), but it has a bad downside, that is, a minority always gets hurt. But better publicity means bigger audience, means more people will become anarchists. Or at least anticaps. I think AM! are taking the road the Crass refused to take, and we'll see which one was wiser in a few years' time. For the meantime, unless they are advertising McDonalds' or skate shoes or designer clothes, they are not selling out.
Again, missing the fact that they threaten DIY labels with lawsuits. How is that contributing to the anarchist cause?

angryyoungandpoor 12-23-2005 07:21 PM
No they're just on RCA. Only past releases are on AF.
not true. part of their deal with rca is that they can still release eps and singles on A-F.

KingOfSka 12-23-2005 08:13 PM

coheneran 12-23-2005 08:17 PM
The shoes?
I assume that is what he is talking aboot (hehe, canada). Unless there is something else called Enties I am not aware of. Is there?

Har har.

It's a skateboarding company. That's the only company named Etnies I know of.

coheneran 12-23-2005 08:22 PM

That's what I though, Etnies. They make skate shoes and gear right?

Liebensaft 12-23-2005 08:46 PM

Yep. I have a couple pairs. Very durable and comfortable.

Buzzbomb 12-23-2005 08:54 PM
I don't know what Hot Topic is, but I assume it's a posershop. Well, what is everyone doing there if they hate it so much?

Etnies sponsers them and makes both skate shoes and designer clothes.

England5Germany1 12-23-2005 09:54 PM

I'm feeling stupid on this whole lawsuit thing, is that why PIX isn't gonna be selling Crime anymore?

lynch_me 12-23-2005 09:59 PM
I assume that is what he is talking aboot (hehe, canada). Unless there is something else called Enties I am not aware of. Is there?
Etnies, whatever. Clearly thats what I was talking about.
Etnies sponsers them and makes both skate shoes and designer clothes.
I already stated that.

TakeWarning 12-23-2005 11:04 PM

Sponsored by Etnies, changed to Sire Records, threatening to sue DIY labels, opening for Green Day...seriously, that's a terrible list of crimes.

KingOfSka 12-23-2005 11:05 PM
Etnies sponsers them and makes both skate shoes and designer clothes.
 Etnies isn't designer.

Buzzbomb 12-23-2005 11:08 PM

Next album should be called Crimes as commited by Against Me!

TakeWarning 12-23-2005 11:09 PM

That reminds me, time for a new thread title to reflect their latest wrong-doings.
