I haven't been here in a while....... And reading back a little, there's a new single soon?!?? Anything new you DF peeps?
you need to start reading their blogs. Jade says new single probably within 2 months I think (which came out to by the end of the year...nothing yet though...so I guess January). Um, album is being pushed back (who'd'a guessed?) because they decided to record a new song. Um, yeah I forget what else. Anyway, I just got my black-on-black and UtR1 so I'm a happy camper. Now I need to remember to send that check for the GNG 7". |

What does everyone think of Rabbits are Roadkill On Route 37? |

HOLY SHI'T, IT'S ME!!!
I miss some of you guys/girls. I may be on for a few days at least. That's all I can promise though for now. However, I know I will never completely leave mx, as sad as it sounds. :(
you need to start reading their blogs.
ewwwww myspace. I would rather just get the information I need off of this site. mx>>>>>>>>>myspace |
Jade looks weird as always.
So my friend was telling me about a bunch of weird hidden videos on their site or something. Like Davey getting wrapped up like a mummy, then getting unwrapped and disappearing. /looks on their site for vids I'm listening to Rabbits are Roadkill. I like it a lot. I think I only listened to it once before, but it's really good. /puts on sing the sorrow And who's the Smith guy. In the default on their myspace, and the guy with the mohawk in the blog. |
Cheers allofmeoliveme, my completionist nature has been tended to :)
I wasn't all that impressed with the new song (rrx37) though, its catchy but it seems a lil sub-par ... ah well. And yeah, iv been following all the online cryptic madness on the df boards for a while now, though at the moment everyone seems to have reached a dead end ... http://www.ehansen.us/Loveline/ AFI were on loveline a week or so back, not sure how many of you knew, but you can listen to the show through the above link (streaming). There's no new album news but its funny enough. |

This time, they've got a global theme. They had a menu from a vegan diner at weightofwords.com and then Mikey Rhino had some numbers in his myspace that got decoded to letters and they got some other site where the mummy thing was going on. Both sites are gone, now, by the way. And the name Hector was on the menu and then a guy named Hector (board name: invierno) starts posting but the account is way old, so it was in advance. And he keeps giving hints. On the menu was a phone number by the name Charlotte so then people started calling that (the number started with 337, what do you expect?) and they got nothing, then a message, then a different message, and now people that call started getting callbacks with a cryptic message. On the mummy site they decoded what Davey was saying to German numbers. I don't know where it went from there. I just know there've been lots of translating from other languages to continue the hunt. Smith is Jade's brother. He's a roadie. He's way cool. There are Smith fans. And like, people write fanmail to Smith too. He's also the guy that will sometimes run out from backstage and jump off into the crowd to pull Davey out when he backflips into the pit and then gets mobbed. |
Black Sails in the Sunset is great album and All Hallows EP is awesome. Don't care for them besides those two albums, though.
i am tired of the bull**** that afi suck from people who have only heard sts, i mean i love that album ,,, but compared to their other stuff it is crap,,, their best albums are: all hallows ep, art of drowning, black sails in the sunset, very proud of ya, shut your mouth and open your eyes, answer that and stay fashionable, and a fire inside e p ,( all exept sing the sorrow( sts ) ) this is the greatest band ever |
Dude, they listen to post-punk all the time. Jade and Davey have Joy Divisian tattoos on them (Jade also has some Cure). Don't you think their musical tastes will be reflected a bit in their music? The kids that like post-punk like STS and will like the next one. Kids that only like oldschool punk and hardcore won't. Kids that like it all will be very campers.

I don't think it's that hard to hit the period button. It's right next to the comma. Use your ring finger instead of your middle finger, and you're all set.

does anyone know if the 336 ep is out of print? where can i find it?
|
I just listened to Black Sails in the Sunset for the first time today. The only AFI I had ever heard before were whatever songs used to be played on MTV and stuff. I was impressed. What is the progression of albums to listen to you suggest I follow?

Shut Your Mouth And Open Your Eyes, if you dig hardcore. And if you like that, the S/T. For stuff that's closest to Black Sails, I'm guessing the All Hallows EP or The Art Of Drowning. |

And I honestly don't know. I am thinking it isn't but it wouldn't surprise me if I'm wrong. If you can get a hold of it, though, do so as it is incredible though only two songs :P It is that exact spot that fits between The Art Of Drowning and Sing The Sorrow. I honestly wish they would've dwelled a little longer on this style. |

this is the greatest band ever
By listing their best albums, you think you would cut more than one out. I like the album. It's just different, big deal. All the bands I listen to change over the years that they play. |

Anyone else been following this? It'd be nice to talk to someone and swap theories. My friends don't like to hear it anymore. |
does anyone know if the 336 ep is out of print? where can i find it?
Yes, only 5,000 were pressed (2 pressings of 2500). You can get them on eBay for $30-50. Despair Faction members were able to buy the few they found in a dark corner of the warehouse a few months ago, but those are all gone too now. So, yeah, eBay. |

That's a lot for an EP. Is it that worth it? |

given that my record player needs a needle...no given that it's a collectible picture-disc...yes...they're usually closer to the $30 end and the DF'ers that bought them there paid $7, I think. I should have gotten one and sold it on eBay since I paid eBay prices for mine. |

I collect AFI stuff...I paid $32 (I think) for a Japanese import of STS and $70 for the Black Sails EP
|
Wow, take a guess of how many AFI things you have?

If its just the songs you want from the 336 EP, some singles came with the 336 versions of Reiver's Music and Now The World. The UK Girl's Not Grey for example.
