Hey the thing with tool is that nobody has the wrong interpretations for the songs, just shadowed version of the truth. The feeling that we all get for tool is the same and that is what counts towrad bettering of the entity known as "TOOL". The more energy that we feed them the more we shall recieve. Eventually the band tool will be over but the overall presents and inspiration from it will never die.

thanks for the replies...
i think that there could be a drug theme however i think it is more to do with your soul and spirit etc...(to cburd) |
Alot of people seem to think Tool talk about drugs, but honestly, I don't think they do.
Maynard has often said that alot of fan's interpretations of their songs are wrong anyway...but he likes to see the free thought going on. Meh. Just listen to it, and spiral out, keep going :thumb: |
Am I the only one who hasnt made some cheesy lyric quote in their post at some point?
Quick question, how long did the Ænima tour last for? random question it seems, but all will become clear soon.... |
Can someone give me a site that deals with the basics of this Metaphysics and light body stuff. Everything i find goes way over my head :upset:

Doesnt go back that far. I was hoping someone who was a tool fan back then would know (i hadnt got onboard the music fad, let alone the tool train back then)

Picked up Aenima and Undertow yesterday :thumb:
Now I need Opiate, but maybe ill skip that one... |

Yeah, Opiate is an awesssssssssssssssssssssomely kick a.ss CD, though very different from their other, more recent CD's. The sound is much harder and alot more yelling, which just goes to show that Tool (specifically Maynard) can do whatever kind of music they want and it still sounds incredible. YOU MUST BUY IT KINGOFDUDES... They have 2 or 3 live recorded songs on it that are soooooooooo grood, part of me and jerk-off, I think theres one more. You may have heard of a song called Hush on their which was their first single. look at the man waving
|
Since it is their oldest CD, will it be hard to find?
|
Not at all... I know Best Buy carries many, at least the one in my area, theres always that CD there, and plenty of copies, not to mention in Best Buy its only 10 bucks... Thats a steal for how fu.cking awesome that CD is.
|
perhaps next paycheck then...

Nah, it should be fairly available. Salival can be bought off Ebay. Last I heard they were selling for 70 bucks or so a copy. |
Opiate is awesome!!
I feel guilty though :( , cause I downloaded it instead of buying it. Also, I just noticed there is an MJK reference in my math book. There's a logic puzzle, in which you have to figure out the hobbies and home cities of six peole. When the chart was solved, Maynard's hometoen was Ravenna, and his hobby was playing gutar. At first i thought, "oh cool, , Maynard." But, last night, i was reading the tool faq, and it says something about Maynard mentioning a small town in Ohio called Ravenna while he was at a concert in Ohio. Either that's an amazing coincidence, or someone really likes tool. |
i dont know if anybody listens to Rage Agaist the machine but if can you should listen to KNOW YOUR ENEMY, because MAYNARD is in it and has a sick solo.
check it out! |
yeah, ratm is awesome....also "Revolution" by RATM has Maynard in it
|
Most songs that Maynard has dueted/appeared on are awesome. Look at passenger by the Deftones for example (one of the ways I discovered Tool through that song)

well, i downloaded Tool's video for Parabola the other day. i've watched it twice, call me uninsightful; but i just don't really get it. could someone help me decipher it a bit? i mean, what is that ball that kills the little green guy, and why does the ball mutate? why does the black dude cut him in half? what connection does the black guy have with the little creature? who are those guys at the beginning with the suits on? what is the progression of it, what is going on? i'm usually pretty good with Tool songs but this video has just confused me a bit. either that or i'm just a dumbass. so, any help?
|
Not sure how many people know this, In Green Jellos (Green Jellys) 3 Little Pigs (Carey on Drums) Maynard is the voice of the scared pigs. Its worth the download......

Adams videos are often complex, and although they are open to interpretation, its a tall order to find any definitive meaning. Although I speculated that the suited guys at the beginning are some represenation of the music industry officials, and the cutting of the fruit the dissecting of anything good and with quality. And the throwing up onto the table could be to represent talking ****? I really do get baffled by them too One friend I talked to wondered if the fruit was a Peach, and whether or not they had broke up due to record company pressures, and this portrayed it. |
I was never really into tool or a perfect cirlce, but then i heard they were pretty much the same band?? if so, I cant tell them apart barely, what makes them difference
|
About 5 minutes in relevance to the songs.
Right, this question has been asked before, i've now got it down to a nutshell Tool = darker, longer, more dramatic APC = more radio friendly, 2x the reverb, more guitar Actually, that kinda sucks, but you get the idea I hope Oh, great article on toolband.com at the moment about heroic Justin |

or an alternative veiw to that, otherside is that tool lyrics are vastly different because of thew danny/adam/justin influences...
especially danny (seems that way to me anyway :) ) tool and apc aren't opposites, but in some ways i feel the ideals of them have a ying/yang relationship... tool being inner exploration, more reflective and thought-out apc being outer relationships, more spur of the moment, off-the-cuff... but both have exceptions...the mood of 'hooker' or 'ticks n leeches' suits my description of APC, whilst 'gravity' seems more like my tool description... but generally i feel they fit those broad ideas. to the casual listener tthe may actually seem the same, but perhaps i polarise them since i love them both too much for the 2 to ocupy a similar space in my mind make sense? no of course not, its my ranting! |
or perhaps tool is more head/spirit based
whilst APC is more heart.... |

an_underused_memory or perhaps tool is more head/spirit based whilst APC is more heart....[/QUOTE] Thats a good idea...Makes sense once u think about it.. There are exceptions to that though, but still |
I have a question for all of you. In the song H Maynard says: "My blood before me begs me open up my heart again." Doesn't that seem gramatically wrong to you? Like everytime I listen to it, I think it should be "my blood before me begs me to open up my heart again", like theres a word missing or someting. I feel there should be more in it. I don't think Tool wold make a mistake, so its done on purpose, but I wanna know what it is. Why its worded that way. Any thoughts?
|
Probably because those lyrics seem to fit the music more.
Maynard claims he's a translator of TOOL's music. If he'd done it the more 'correct' way, it probably wouldn't sound right. |
