Yeah, they were on Century at one point, and I see your point. It just sounded like you weren't aware they were on Peaceville.
|
Sorry I sounded as if I needed schooled, must be the n00b in me.
|
Century would work well too, although I can only remember one band on Century :(

Opeth Oasis, you have extremely good taste for someone who is only in grade 6. Consider yourself repp'd. And the only song by Opeth I can play is To Bid You Farewell, it's all I've tried so far.
i meant grade 6 in piano...........LOL |

 Now I feel stupid:upset: And I hear Opeth's next album will have more of a Black Metal sound? is this correct? |
well if the album is going to be based on the occult, it should be pretty dark IMO
|
Century Media or Roadrunner would work well for them and get some much needed exposure....for a band as popular as they are (as far as the underground goes), they don't receive much support.

I think they will sign with Century Media, and no the next album will not be black metal. Last time opeth were in Australia Andrew Hoag from Full Metal Racket (Triple J) interviewed Mikael and questioned what he had said on the DVD about the prospect of it being a 'Black Metal' album. Mikael replied that at that time he was writing possibly the heviest song for the new album and he was thinking about making a BM album but had since changed his mind and decided to make an album to the standard opeth formula.

I guess I'm glad to here they arn't doing a BM album, I'd prefer another of the same sound. Listened to BWP album earlier tonight, I don't think its possible for me to tire of that album.

k atm im working on a guitar pro file for silhouette, ill tell you guys when its done

Hrm, after listening to Orchid and Still Life a lot more recently, I've established my favourite songs off each are:
Orchid: Forest of October - Amazing riffs, and the part around the 2:20 minute mark, where it builds up, then breaks into the accoustic guitar and the double bass kicks in......holy **** that just blew me away. Still Life: Godhead's Lament - it was kinda hard for me not to say The Moor for this, but after a lot of listening, I just love Godhead's Lament so much. :) I too am glad that their new album won't be black metal....it just doesn't seem right. I can't play very many Opeth songs, mainly just bits and pieces of them. I'm trying to learn The Funeral Portrait solo....but it's just really hard. |

Roadrunner has Slipknot, KsE, and Cradle of Filth.I'd prefer for Opeth to go on a lable where they would be a priority. But hell, if Roadrunner it is then so be it.I just want a new album!!! |
They also signed a deal with Nightwish, finally bringing the fins to the states and catching up America to the rest of the world. *shrug* Personally, I'm more of a century media guy myself (I order all of my music from them, great prices and decent service), but I remember that as soon as Nightwish signed that deal with RR, there were like 12 copies of "Once" at Best Buy...I take this as a good sign. :)
Then again, Opeth already has a strong following in the states, and might be able to bring up a lesser known label...Roadrunner doesn't need any more help, really. Regardless of what label Opeth signs to, they already have enough of a cult following that people will track the albums down. |

I wouldn't worry. No matter what label they sign with I'm sure Mike will do what he wants to with their sound. Latest I heard was that he threw out the black metal plan and decided to make another one with their same sound as on previous albums.

Do you honestly see Opeth doing that? :p |
If Opeth ever became mainstream, I would hole up in my room and never come out again. It would be too depressing to see white trash march around in Opeth hoodies down the local mall.

Agreed. Who cares if they're on a record label with shitty bands? As long as Opeth is still cranking out good CD's, I'm sold. I doubt if they sign to Roadrunner that they'll turn into an emo/metalcore band. |

Get over it, dude. Not all mainstream is bad. (wearing Opeth T-shirt right now...) |
I'd agree with Century Media, or possibly Nuclear Blast (I love so many bands on it)

Hmmm, I was looking forward to the supposed black metal sound they were going to have for the new album. Got a source? EDIT: Nevermind I just read the post above. |
they should go with nuclear blast, they've good bands signed, and NB is located in europe, and not in crappy commercial US
|
yeah, nuclear blast would be a great option for Opeth methinks
|
anywhere where they can still make great albums
|
Anyone heard anything along the lines of an estimated release date for the next album?
|
late spring i think, is that northern on southern hemisphere spring?
