I'm going by Dead Man In Reno's newer material, they said themselves that they're going for a more death metal sound, and seriously, listen to their new demo, it's up on their myspace.

It's been up for a while. Bette Noir, He Is I And I Am Him, Coming To Grips With Reality.

Yeah, the new stuff is pretty cool. It's a lot less generic than their old stuff, which is surprising, what with them jumping on the whole deathcore bandwagon.

I love the breakdown with the sweeps in Bette Noir... it sounds like Burning The Masses but less sloppy, and then I remember, it's DMIR, and that band is like robotically tight.

His highs sound a bit more strained, but his lows sound incredible.

If he'd saturate the highs like he did on their S/T it'd sound so perfect.

Some of the riffs took a while to grow on me, but I know what you mean. Though you must admit the riffing on their S/T is pretty incredible as well.

The clean guitar part in Me Is I And I Is Him at the end is awesome.

I like how this demo gets progressively better each song too, it makes it more rewarding to listen to.

Whitechapel is crazy live. I saw them on the Live Free/Mosh Hard tour with Too Pure to Die, Beneath the Sky, Impending Doom and As This Body, I Exist, and them and ATB,IE blew everyone out of the water.

I added other bands that were mentioned that were actually good. Garbage like Impending Doom and Despised Icon aren't making the cut, sorry bro.

Heaven Shall Burn is incredibly gay, and Despised Icon has blatant tuffguy hardcore parts in just about every one of their songs... added to that, the use of tuffguy vocals, and a lot of the drumming, yep DI is deathcore, incredibly boring and formulamatic deathcore with way too many brees.

I'm not disputing the crappiness of Despised Icon, haha. I didn't even bring them up, you did. I know they suck. I'm just debating whether they even need to be discussed in a "deathcore" conversation.


And you thinking HSB is " gay" is irrelevant. Grow up. They are an established deathcore band with shitloads of fans, and deserve to be added to the list.
