I don't think we really have a genre... so feel free to send me a PM of what you think our genre is.

SpecialBoy 02-25-2005 01:05 PM

If I had a band it would be called Gayrilla Dick and we would be a rasta hardcore act with a jazz fusion influence.

Drools 02-25-2005 01:21 PM

I think some people need to read the first post again ;)

Jessizzle 02-25-2005 01:26 PM

Well... im gonna tell you my bands problems anyway. we have pratice issues. i cant do it most weekend in the winter due to snowboarding they cant do it in the summer due to cottages. but we have a song about Crazy Anal Monkey Sex, so it all makes up for that.

Cyco_Vision 02-25-2005 07:00 PM

My band? It's better than yours. Enough said.

d-end 02-25-2005 07:25 PM

Major General Despair 02-25-2005 09:35 PM

I'm in a pseudo-band called WTC and the Collapsers. Basically my friend plays ****ty guitar and I do the most horrible vocals I possibly can. It has no musical value whatsoever.
play drums, because drummers control the entire band! If the drummer f'ucks up, everyone is screwed. usually
Tell that to our ****ty *** drummer. Oh yeah my band was first called Staple Wound because my friend stapled his finger but then we changed it to Wasted Talent but then our drummer got real ****ty and now we don't play anymore.

Rebuilding Butt Trumpet Lineup, again...

Building a band is tough. Building a band that is available for and
capable of touring the country and beyond and coming to play FOR YOU wherever you may be is even tougher. And re-building that band is definitely a huge undertaking.

I'm looking for members who would be able to identify with the following:

1) They love rock and roll, and they love it the way it was always
meant to be - obnoxious. Some call that "true punk rock."
2) They understand that music is art, not a product.
3) They want to experience touring, putting out records, meeting the
fans and having a great time doing so.
4) They can play one (or more) of the following instruments:
a) Drums
b) Guitar (Some leads preferred although we prefer good rhythm solos)
c) Bass
5) Females preferred (mainly for backup vocal reasons, the band has a
history dating back to 1991 and it sucks not being able to play many
of our more well-known songs due to not having the backing vocals).
6) They put honesty above all else musically.
7) They aren't looking to "sell out" and suck corporate dick. This is
not to say we won't (or can't) get paid. Butt Trumpet has been signed
before. What I mean is, it's not the priority, it's the RESULT.
8) Are in the Los Angeles area and are willing to practice at least 2
times a week.
9) Are available for shows, short and long tours.
10) Can afford their share of a reasonably priced lockout.

Gear that the project already owns include the following:
a) Ampeg SVT Bass amp (tube of course)
b) GK RB-800 Bass amp (heavily modified, heh)
c) Marshall JCM-2000 Signature guitar head with a matching half
stack cabinet. Includes floor switch, what fun!
d) Other misc. stuff

The band make-up is as such:
1) Drummer
2) Clean bass/Vocals
3) Fuzz bass/Vocals
4) Guitar/Vocals
5) Vocalist

You can hear a bit of the music (still rough mix, not yet mastered, so not yet available for download) at http://www.myspace.com/thombone in
the music player at the top of the page. Our previous album, you might have heard of: "Primitive Enema."

You can e-mail me at thombone200x@yahoo.com as well.

This is a great opportunity for you if you're looking for a project
with a lot of history but little compromise. In other words, there's a
lot of freedom behind this. It's ART and some good, intense, in your
face music we're after, not the typical bull****.

Peace.

Bassist likes what everyone else likes

Revengeseeker 03-07-2005 12:41 PM

i'm in a currently untitled band. but we suck. we are street punk/thrash. along the lines of ZA (that's zombie apocalypse)

withswivelaction 03-07-2005 11:25 PM

hey- what do you guys think about bands that seem to be without a genre?
my band has a great range from like... GnR to clapton to sublime to acoustic alchemy to NoFx and blah blah blah.... do you think most who try this stretch themselves to thin? do you think it would be to hard to creat a loyal fan bass?
(granted that were any good at any of these styles) or that the transitions- if not done correctly, would put people off? .... thoughts ?

evildemonlemurs 03-08-2005 03:11 AM

Nobody made a response to my post, so i am making another because I want people to hear us. My band is the Cripple Beaters. We all have our own influences, but our main ones are Black Flag, DRI, Judas Priest, the Germs, GG Allin, Slayer, DOA, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, and lots of other ****. We already recorded our first album, and it sounds pretty much like old-school hardcore revival. Our next album will be totally different, though, more technical and crossover influenced. Go to http://www.myspace.com/thecripplebeaters to hear the title track of our album. I am the lead guitarist. I made up all of the solos on the album on the spot, but I only made up two songs, which was because I wrote the lyrics. I also sang on those tracks. We just got a permanent bassist who does really great and original walking bass lines. I am living in Texas right now, but I am moving there in the summer, so more stuff will be up then.

crap head the punk kid 03-08-2005 11:39 AM

im in a band called the bastards but the rest of them all like nirvana and sh'it but i like the sex pistols and sh'it so i kinda get annoyed also i play drums but there was already a drummer so i ended up on lead vocals.

RevengeOfTheVillageIdiot 03-08-2005 12:00 PM

you are aware there is a band called the bastards?

h0pe1ess 03-08-2005 01:38 PM

Well i dont know if this counts, but i need a band.
Playing guitar for about 6 months and im very heavily influenced by green day and the ramones.
Ive tried to start loads of bands, Volcanic Government, The Suicidals, The Break, even one called Kaput, and guess what, they all went Kaput!
Im so jealous of all of you :P
Sorry for wasting your time XP
