http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006212W2/qid=1107211746/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-1682445-5374556?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
ima post a review the day i pick it up
i know its supposed to just be re-recordings of Keasbey Nights so Catch 22 doesnt make any money... but they would lose royalties if they didn't put at least one new song on it...

skankinBassist 01-31-2005 04:58 PM

o dam,n
nevermind, they just updated the release date
there now is none!
it reminds me of their first album
3 months post-poned
rediculous!

skankin'sophr 01-31-2005 05:32 PM

nope

whats her face 01-31-2005 08:15 PM

I love this band soooo much. Here's To life is one of the greatest songs ever made.

Forest_Fire 01-31-2005 08:17 PM

have you heard the BOTAR version?

neffernin 02-02-2005 03:21 AM

ive seen them live twice, I saw them when they played in grand rapids last year and when they played in toledo. Though they don't put on any great stage show and stick to just playing their music, they do an incredible fing job at it. I am seeing them.... today I guess it would be.

Also, Here's To Life by SLM is a cover of BOTAR. BOTAR covers Hey Sergio from keasby nights.

Last time I saw them live, they added "hey ska" onto their set by the suicide machines, since I've seen the suicide machines live many times (and seen them horribly try to play the song live w/o horns lol) it was really exciting.

Also, if you are going to their show, expect to hear one or two botar songs, notably "They provide the paint for the picture-perfect masterpiece that you paint inside your eyelids" and "It's a wonderful life." (also here's to life, but that's to be expected)

Cracked Open Ska 02-02-2005 05:58 PM

Streetlight

I have to say, SM are (is??) amazing, Tomas Kalnoky=3yrs in prison for armed robbery. Just amazing people. It sucks with the leaving of James Egan and Josh Ansley. Im seeing them live the 6th, awesome show. BOTAR is also really cool. They're so offbeat that it's just amazing. Some relative of Tomas' is in BOTAR, his name is Achilles Kalnoky. How Eastern European. He lives in Prague. Rock on Czech Republic.

**If you're into anarcho-ska/crusty stuff, listen to Leftover Crack. What a fine group of young entrepreneurs.**

enjoyincubus421 02-02-2005 11:08 PM

TheNowhereman42 02-02-2005 11:18 PM

SkaRobotArmy 02-02-2005 11:20 PM

ya, i didnt realize BOTAR had like 15 members... i just figured it was SM guys playing alternate instruments or something.

TheNowhereman42 02-02-2005 11:37 PM

I think its 12 members

SkaRobotArmy 02-03-2005 10:14 AM

ya, i didnt bother to count, but its alot.

roadsidebass1234 02-06-2005 12:38 PM

i went to the ska is dead tour and public access told everybody to come on stage and sing linoleum. it was awesome. except their saxifonist broke his sax... all the other bands were amazing to especailly streetlight manifesto

I went lastngiht. amazing show. Streetlight was so good.

The best part of their set was when they started counterpoint, played half of it and went right in to keasby nights, then they finished up counterpoint. it was f'ucking amazing.

peteo 02-10-2005 02:59 AM

Naw bosstones and less than jake
acctually Sublime made you like ska, I know that because Sublime made EVERYBODY like ska.
Naw bosstones, with devils night out and less than jake with loosing streak got me into ska.

SlappedByTheClash 02-10-2005 06:57 AM
That Point/Counterpoint+Keasbey Nights sounds F'uckin amazing.
Where's that?

Oh, I didn't see it. I'd love to see SLM live.

Pastry Man 02-10-2005 08:43 AM

they are an awesome band. i love that type of ska. its not too pop punky but its not too street punky its just right. and seeing as i havent actually been to a live gig before (noob*embarassed*) i would definitely want to go see them if i ever had the chance.

KingOfSka 02-10-2005 02:09 PM

Streetlight Manifesto owns, their horns are so much better than any other ska bands.

Reccomended Songs:
-Everything Goes Numb
-Flailing Flailing
-Point Counterpoint
-A Better Place a Better Time

KingOfSka 02-10-2005 02:09 PM

they covered keasby nights? wut?

Let's Chop Cats! 02-10-2005 02:12 PM

They play a lot of old C22 stuff. At their first show they played a songs off C22's demo.

albert_bass 02-10-2005 02:14 PM

What's the connection with Catch 22? I've always wanted to know that.

RevengeOfTheVillageIdiot 02-10-2005 02:23 PM

they need to play a well known bands songs

albert_bass 02-10-2005 02:25 PM

But really, there are some members of Catch 22 in SLM or it's just a paranoid?

AndreTheHyena 02-10-2005 02:32 PM

Paranoid?

No, there's ex-members of Catch 22 in Streetlight. I know the singer is the same, I don't know who else.

SlappedByTheClash 02-10-2005 03:24 PM

Didn't it used to be like half C22 and half One Cool Guy before some of the guys left?

Let's Chop Cats! 02-10-2005 03:28 PM

The connection is Tomas Kalnoky on guitar/vocals, Josh Ansley on bass and Jamie Egan on Trombone but he just recently left.

The rest of them were from OCG. Since they formed there has been a few lineup changes. But for the most part it's the same.

goldfish855 02-10-2005 03:52 PM

I went to the "Ska is dead" last night. It was so great. That was my first live show and streetlight was deifnitly the best.Them and our local band Bad Larry

tgkdrummer 02-10-2005 04:34 PM

dude my music teacher is in Streetlight!... he plays trombone. he used to be in catch 22 too

SlappedByTheClash 02-10-2005 04:36 PM

You f'ucking liar, shut up.

The trombonist quit Streetlight anyway.

if he's in a band like SM, why would he f'uck his life away teaching pre-pubescent children how to play wanky classical music?

Anti-Prefix 02-10-2005 05:40 PM

You like using the words pre-pubescent don't you?
Anyway.....
Streetlight Rules!

Rockafella 02-10-2005 05:45 PM

Their CD can be phrased in one word: AMAZING!
I got it a week ago and I've been listening to it everyday since I got it (I am even listening to it right now!) Easily a must get. God, they rule...

I supposed the singer was the same but the bassist is awesome and he didn't use to write so **** good basslines in Catch 22. That surprised me.
