Weren't they called Alice N Chains?

podbassist 05-20-2005 10:33 AM

My moms favorite band is def leppard so i heard a lot of them when i was young. In fact my parents when i was a baby, they would listen to music as i was going to sleep, and they would have the volume like all the way up, and my room was right next to the wall that the stereo was behind. Now noises don't bug me when i am trying to go to sleep because i am so used to it.

Yeah i've fallen to sleep to VH's 'Fair Warning ' album. Not that it was boring, I was just tired. :)

Jon 05-21-2005 03:28 AM

for reference that was the best playlist EVAR

Jon 05-21-2005 09:34 AM

Ah well.

God it was funny. Every other song that came on I was like "EVERYONE THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG EVAR"

Then a few hours ago I did it again, turned to my friend, and was like "wait a minute, these are all my favourite songs because I put them on my playlist"

Pantera in Chains 05-21-2005 12:33 PM
The Darkness, DJ Sammy, Twisted Sister and Winger can all die. I mean be cut out.
Hey man don't diss TS man, Bon Jovi and Jackson they are far worse and need to be cut out of that list. But meh I guess TS isn't really glam and this is the glam thread ......

Shout it Out 05-21-2005 08:09 PM

I wonder why no one has mentioned Cinderella. They were as glam as it got. Other ones that no one has talked about are:

Poison
Shotgun Messiah
Keel
Dokken
Jet Boy
LA Guns
King Kobra
Alcatrazz

Talk about some of them.

blue3 05-21-2005 09:41 PM

Motley Crue is playing later. Audioslave is playing next

highwaychild377 05-22-2005 03:06 AM

i know ive said this before, but george lynch is GOD. i think lynch mob was way better than dokken; dons voice is so weak, and the band as a unit seems really half-as.sed, like they dont really want to play the song . lynchs lead work is still brilliant with both groups though. what do you guys think?

Jon 05-22-2005 05:23 AM

I agree with you 100%

Lynch owns.

So do the LA Guns.

Lynch + Guns = :)

I totally agree about George Lynch, he kills. I haven't heard Lynch Mob before, but I have to now.

acefrehleyjendell 05-23-2005 11:28 PM

I was looking in my garage through all these old vinyl albums and i found a huge Glam / Hair Metal section.

I found :

KISS : Creatures of the night, Asylum, Lick it Up, Revenge, Hot in the shade

Poison : Open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Def Leppard : Hysteria

Cindarella : Night Songs

Alice Cooper : Love it to death, Pretties for you, Alice Cooper goes to hell, Lace and Whiskey, Billion Dollar Babies, Hey Stoopid, Trash, Welcome to my Nightmare, Easy Action, Muscle of Love, Schools Out, From the Inside, Killer, Fistful of Alice, The Alice Cooper Show.

Frehley's Comet : Second Sighting

Ace Frehley : Trouble Walkin'

Van Halen : s/t, 1984

And i found a ton of old posters from the 70's and 80's of :
Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, KISS, Taime Downe, Nikki Sixx, Jizzy Pearl, Jani Lane, Joey Allen, Sebastian Bach, Ratt, Winger, Alice Cooper

Jon 05-26-2005 01:06 PM

Trash and Hysteria are awesome.

So.
Can anyone sing 18 and Life?
Anyone want me to do Glam Radio? I can do it between about 11am and 11pm GMT tomorrow. Can you get a Shoutcast/radio plugin for iTunes btw?

Depends how strictly you're defining "sing". I doubt I could pass for Sebastian Bach.

Jon 05-26-2005 03:40 PM

Well, can you do something in tune?

Great idea! Glam gets alot of bashing in these forums and I think if more people were educated on the genre, then the may find they like some of it. Definitely include a bit of Motley Crue in there and possible some Van Halen. They were quite glam when they were with Roth.

acefrehleyjendell 05-29-2005 11:04 PM

For some reason, the past 4 days have been filled with :

Vodka
Ciggarettes
Sex
Motley Crue
Alice Cooper
Poison
T-Rex
The Stooges
KISS
Faster Pussycat
Wednesday 13
Brides of Destruction
and Warrant

Canadian-Guy 05-29-2005 11:15 PM

David Lee Roth - Just A Gigalo - one of the best glam songs ever.

blue3 05-29-2005 11:21 PM

Good to know..
Jet Boy
Oh no no no you didn't.

What the hell was Sam thinking?

invaderrox 05-30-2005 05:13 PM

I came from the 80's

Jon 05-30-2005 05:16 PM

invaderrox 05-30-2005 05:17 PM

Why would I buy you something :p

Jon 05-30-2005 05:19 PM

Because you love me and I'm the most awesome most 80s person evar :p

Except Warren DiMartini*, obviously.

*last Glam photo I looked at

blue3 05-30-2005 08:28 PM

Happy birthday in a few days then.

Def Leppard is coming here for a concert.. I'm still not sure if I'm going..

Axe 05-30-2005 09:54 PM

What about Cinderella?Tom Keifer is one of the most talented musicians there is.My allstar hair metal would look like this...

vocals-Sebastian Bach
Lead-Steve Vai(He was in white snake)
Rythm guitar-Tom Keifer
Bass-Nikki Syxx
Drums-Tommy Lee

BTW-i dont consider Van Halen or GNR glam/hair metal or else Axl Rose,Eddie Van Halen would have mad it in my hair metal all star band.

Just what do you intend to do with THAT  ?

And yes, you are the most '80s person ever :p

"5150" 05-31-2005 05:22 AM

Does anyone know who to get the 'Glam hair'? I know a fair amount of hairspray is used, but it has to be cut in a certain way?

Jon 05-31-2005 05:22 AM

I intend to be all cool and glam-horrorpunk, duh :p

*evar, not ever.

Grow it down to your shoulders, layer it slightly so its a little shorter on top. Optionally crimp it. Then hairspray, backcomb, hairspray.

I find this funny, considering, as far as I've heard, Jon has never actually achieved this :p

Jon 05-31-2005 03:30 PM

I've backcombed it before, and hairsprayed it, but never at the same time because I suck at having a comb *and* spray at hand when I need them
