br3ad_man 04-24-2004 08:42 PM

^^^^ What is the Meeting People DVD like? Is it really good? Is there much "bad stuff" in it? I'm thinking of buying it.

TheClashing 04-24-2004 09:04 PM

Yeah, I've been meaning to pick it up. Its a documentary, correct?

Well, I'm listening to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club right now.

Lately I've been listening to the Smiths a lot, mainly the album "The Queen is Dead" and a few songs that I downloaded. They're really good, I already want to buy another one of their albums.

Also I've been listening to a band called Naked City, this John Zorn avante-garde band. They were a definite influence on Fantomas, so if you like Fantomas then check out Naked City.

And I've been listening to "Grace" by Jeff Buckley.

radianteclipse 04-25-2004 12:47 PM

I'm a big metal head usually, but lately I have gotten into Death Cab for Cutie, The Lovers, Bright Eyes, etc.

It's pretty much a documentary on OK Computer and their 1997-1998 tour. There's a lot of interviews with the band and clips from some of the shows, and really that's about it, with the exception of some "arty" footage that's reminiscent of parts of the Fugazi Instrument video. There's also some footage of Radiohead in the studio. As for "bad stuff", there's some footage of Thom Yorke with a wine bottle and the dreaded eff-word a few times, if that's what you meant by "bad stuff".

Anjuli 04-25-2004 08:59 PM

I've been listening to Cap'n Jazz and Bjork lately. And A Perfect Circle.

BillCosby 04-26-2004 10:19 PM

I finally got into Modest Mouse, and I've been on a Bowie fix recently (even though I've liked him for the longest time) which may have something to do with seeing him live last friday. :)

thechief_ff 04-27-2004 09:36 AM
I finally got into Modest Mouse
heh, i was just about to post the same thing

maybe it's because of the mood i've been in lately or something, but i was never really a big fan until tonight "life like weeds" came on my playlist and i didn't know what song it was...

then after i realized it was modest mouse i downloaded a bunch of songs by them. after hearing "dramamine" i decided they officially rock.

neal_672 04-28-2004 02:20 PM

Right now it's ash for me, i can't wait to get their new album even though i've already seen them play it all live, and i will do again at Leeds Fest :thumb:

OrbDragon 04-29-2004 04:46 AM

I rediscovered Muse too...Origin Of Symmetry is good.

Also:

Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People
dEUS - The Ideal Crash
Pixies - Doolittle
Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do
Desert Sessions - Volume 9&10
Death Cab For Cutie - Tansatlanticism
Flaming Lips - Transmissions From The Satellite Heart
Sarah McLachlan - Surfacing

I have yet to listen to my latest purchase, Damien Rice's debut cd...but I'm sure I'll dig it. I remember going to the record store when I bought my first Ani DiFranco record. I heard this amazing song with this incredibly sexy female vocalist...I told the shopkeeper, what record this was...she said "Damien Rice". I guess that settles that.

Tomahawk 04-29-2004 11:20 PM

I downloaded some songs by "TV on the Radio", and I'm loving them. I wanna get my hands on their album as soon as possible. If you wanna check out some songs, get "Blind", "Staring at the Sun", and their cover of the Pixies song "Mr Grieves".

I've also started getting into Modest Mouse, Squarepusher, and the Boredoms.

TheZenBassist 05-03-2004 06:15 PM

Lately, I've been getting into the New York Rock scene. Mainly the good old 60's bands like The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Phish and Grateful Dead. Also been checking out some bands influenced by these, such as The Dandy Warhols, The Beta Band, and the Strokes. I haven't been able to get "Dry The Rain" out of my head for weeks now. Can't fully explain it really. These bands are so much different from most others. They're a healthy mix of blues, jazz, and rock n' roll. That's all I've got for now, I guess so I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Luxor 05-03-2004 06:45 PM

Cap'n Jazz is amazing... *spooges pants*

br3ad_man 05-04-2004 03:46 AM

Listening to the Cows again. Awesome band, just takes years to find their songs.

pacahmyhead 05-04-2004 09:42 AM
Nah I just have one album that I downloaded, "Grand Guignol". It's good though.
i would highly suggest the black box. the torture garden sounds like a crazier version of fantomas' first album, and the leng tch'e is very similar to delirium cordia.

also, he does even more stuff outside of naked city.

i'd suggest taboo and exile, I.A.O., and filmworks V: tears of ecstasy. the drum work on those albums make danny carrey look bad.

OK Compiler 05-05-2004 06:26 PM

Artist: Modest Mouse. Between Lonesome Crowded West, Building Nothing Out Of Something, The Moon & Antarctica, and the new one, I think it's safe to say that Modest Mouse suck at making bad albums, because they haven't yet.

Album: Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan. I was raised to hate Dylan's voice by my father, but this album is so incredible that I'll risk getting disowned.

Song: "Take Me Out", Franz Ferdinand. To be honest, I heard the album, and I was a little disappointed. It might take a few listens, but d*mn! this song is good. The moment where it slows down into that groove is the coolest part of any new song in 2004 so far, IMO.

loose cannon 05-06-2004 08:18 AM

I just listened to Adam and Tje Ants this morning and I liked it!

loose cannon 05-06-2004 08:25 AM

Im always listening to REM. As a matter of fact Murmur is one of the greatest albums ever. I listen to it everyday. Especially Sitting Still. Also i've been digging the new Calexico EP called Convict Pool. It's incredible.

espionage_phoenix 05-06-2004 12:08 PM

The bands I listen to are not new, but they are great.

Linkin Park
Rage Against The Machine
Nirvana
Pantera
NiN
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Hatebreed
Manson
Kittie
Static-X
System Of A Down
Weezer
Deftones
And much, much more...mainly Grunge bands.
