I don't know how to start, though. School doesn't have a team, and teams outside of schools want people who already know how to play...
Hmm. Meh. |
I took sambo, actually. It's a Russian martial art, if you're not familiar with it. My instructor simultaneously taught us kung-fu too (he called it samfu, but I refused to acknowledge that name), so it was a pretty well-rounded experience.
Was it the same one that Zangief took? |
Was it the same one that Zangief took?
Hahaha, supposedly. :p I never learned to do anything like Zangief does, though. |
Wasn't Zangief just some wrestler?
... :upset: |
holocaust memorial stuff, we're visiting all the major concentration/death camps and touring poland in general
anyway, i'm gone
forgive me in saying it doesn't sound like it's going to be the "happiest" school trip but needless to say.. have fun :thumb: |
Take the time between now and next season to study and practice. Find someone to catch for you when you can, throw at a target when you can't.
When things start going next year, just go to every team and do your best to schmooze yourself into at least a tryout. Who cares if you get on the worst team around? Its all practice to be a walk on in college right? Everything from that point is good experience. Just take care of your arm. |

Yeah, I know what Sambo is. Kung Fu is also just a broad term for all martial arts originating in China. :p Muay Thai, Lethwei (Burmese Boxing), and Brasilian Jujutsu are what I would want to train in. Muay Thai and Lethwei are alike, though, but Lethwei allows you to headbutt, bite, and gouge. Way, way back in the day, people from Burma went over to Thailand to put their martial arts to the test in the ring, but Lethwei was banned from being able to fight with the Thai because they were too brutal. In Lethwei, they often fought to the death. |

Maybe I can get my friends to start playing, and that way I can get the hang of it. I know some of the grips, but I've never actually TRIED to pitch... :upset: |

Lethwei sounds amazing. Reminds me of how my instructor was teaching us how to fight. |

if it wasn't for the talk of Zangief, I wouldn't have revived my enjoyment of the Fist of the North Star series:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fist_of_the_north_star so much information XD i'll be watching this tomorrow |

I have heard and read that Canada has some amazing Muay Thai schools. One is in British Columbia and the other is in Quebec. :upset: If I learned Muay Thai, I would actually want to train like they did in ancient times where it was all about stance, and, once you could prove that you have mastered that, then you would move on to fighting. Unlike nowadays where you can train for 6-7 months for a tournament, and then, magically, be a master. |
Hey guys.

Hello to the casual.

Chicken sandwiches at 4:45 in the morning after a night of drinking and smoking pot are amazing like it's no one's business.
I did just that last night and I was so glad to be doing it. |

I wish I had some green, the only connection I had tonight on short notice had blow.
I thought that you quit?
lowsound
I don't remember that ever happening? I've certainly slowed down a lot, but I don't remember quitting? |
Haha, yeah. It's amazing how much confidence you exude when you know that you can completely take care of yourself, though.
You're making me want to get back into martial arts.
Yeah, that is true. I also have confidence that I would be able to take care of myself, though, but even more so if I had the training. Then start training again! I found a guy in Portland that actually teaches Muay Thai like it is suppose to be taught, but he only does private lessons, and it is 1500$ a week, so screw that. I mean, he is licensed by the Royal Kingdom of Thailand, but I don't have that kind of money. The cool thing is that he also teaches the art of Krabi-Krabong, which is ridiculously important, and OMG. I wish I was just magically rich. |
Yeah, that is true. I also have confidence that I would be able to take care of myself, though, but even more so if I had the training.
Then start training again!
Yeah... I don't have the time right now and there are more important things to spend the money on. I'm still in quite good physical shape, so it's not like I need it for exercise purposes, and I (think) can defend myself if necessary, so I don't need it for self-defense purposes. |
