Get Fighted 05-19-2006 01:35 PM
I thought lawrence livermore taught tre how to play. Or atleast got him started.
Yeah, he did.

nag*with*a*gun 05-19-2006 02:05 PM

yep. and tre joined the lookouts when he was 12.
whales singing?
Indeed, that's what he liked to listen to. You know the sounds they make underwater?

"Mmmmmnnnyyyaa hhnnnnahhh" etc...

It's actually quite soothing for some people. Personally I find it irritating. He was a c*nt anyway.

yourstruly 05-20-2006 10:37 PM

I've been listening to American idiot alot lately, and it doesn't really seem that much different to their older stuff to me.

punkrocker-182 05-21-2006 12:30 AM

there good live

yourstruly 05-21-2006 04:01 AM

Does Billy Joe play guitar and sing more often than just sing?

Oz Rembrandt 05-21-2006 07:42 AM

Not anymore. Billie plays some single chors in a bar, but the main song structure is played by Jason, I think.

billiejoe84 05-23-2006 02:00 PM

I presume you mean live, as BJ plays all the guitar parts in the studio. Generally, for older stuff Jason goes offstage, so BJ does both. But for AI songs, it's generally Jason playing all the way through, and BJ joining in on guitar for choruses, or as a rhythm part for solos.

As far as I can tell.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 02:20 PM

yeh, just as far.

if i was him i would want to play everything instead of just singing but...

billiejoe84 05-23-2006 02:24 PM

Maybe he's just being lazy. Playing while singing is much harder....

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 02:26 PM

yeh but obviously he can.

someone should slap some sense into that man.

chumpradio 05-23-2006 02:28 PM

He likes to run around a lot while singing, and entertain the crowd. And he is very good at that.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 02:31 PM

yeh but i'd rather hear him play than watch him run around. although...

billiejoe84 05-23-2006 02:33 PM

Well, Jason generally seems capable of playing the original guitar part note-perfect, so presumably Billie Joe decided it was unneccesary. Certainly, if you watch Bullet In A Bible, he's all over the stage, and playing while doing that wouldn't be easy.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 02:36 PM

yeh jason's good.
I KNOW it would be hard to run around and play. Actually some of the stuff he does in BIAB is pointless but some is funny... like hitchin a ride ( which is also the best song)

Oz Rembrandt 05-23-2006 02:54 PM

You know thats what I meant. :)

It may be harder, but I'd rather see him playing than entertaining.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:03 PM

same^^

Bad Blood 05-23-2006 03:40 PM

Billie Joe isn't a great guitarist though. When it comes down to it, he's a better entertainer than a guitar player.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:42 PM

no. hes not an amazing guitarist, but he's pretty good.

the strong point of the music are the lyrics.

Oz Rembrandt 05-23-2006 03:45 PM

TRagically, in modern Green Day, the strong point may well be the lyrics, but they no longer sing about things close to my heart. I couldn't give a crap about US politics.

billiejoe84 05-23-2006 03:46 PM

More songs about lethargy and masturbation!

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:47 PM

hear hear^

what would be a good band to do a green day cover?

Oz Rembrandt 05-23-2006 03:48 PM
More songs about lethargy and masturbation!
YES! I'm an angry lazy teenager with no girlfriend songs!

Thats what got me hooked.

billiejoe84 05-23-2006 03:49 PM
hear hear^

I'd like to hear Fall Out Boy or Allister do one. Allister especially often seem quite 'inspired' by Green Day so maybe they could make a good fist of a cover version.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:51 PM

yeh. go dookie!!!

but nimrod is good, too, it has several great songs.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:51 PM

FOB?

disgraceness. no, I actually like fob.

how about REM?

Oz Rembrandt 05-23-2006 03:54 PM

Pff to Dookie. Go Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Nimrod!

I don't think I'd like to hear a Green Day cover to be quite honest.

Bad Blood 05-23-2006 03:55 PM

REM would be interesting, but I would think it would be a bit rubbish.

I'd like to see a band like Against Me! do one, that would be awesome.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:56 PM

bj has a unique voice, anyway, it would sound wierd.

nag*with*a*gun 05-23-2006 03:57 PM

^I just like REM. I'm addicted to End Of The World. Right now I'm listening to it.

If REMplayed totally in the style of that song, it would be good.
