I live in Hong Kong now, and I can vouch for its barreness. However, I have a buddy who lives in Southampton who makes some pretty decent music. I don't know how big either his solo show (A Lily) or his band (Yndi Halda) are there, since I normally live in the States and have never been to your fine town personally.
Can't say I've heard of either, but I'll be sure to look out for them!
Canada has some big selling artists... Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain etc. None of them are particularly good.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling Pink Floyd are from Cambridge...

I grew up in Hong Kong, who have absolutely no one anyone here will know... Except apart from William Hung....

I now live in Southampton, another musically barren zone...
HAHA what about "BEYOND"!!!! Before the guy died

lilsolsman 10-22-2005 06:13 AM
Ahem.

guitarded_chuck 10-22-2005 07:43 AM

And the Unicorns

something vague 10-22-2005 07:54 AM

Ohio has produced some horrible bands (Relient K, Hawthorne Heights).

:(

JonM 10-22-2005 08:56 AM

Outkast, Cee-lo, R.E.M., Ray Charles, Blind Willie McTell, Otis Redding.

I did Georgia, not Rhode Island, because Georgia may suck to live in, but it definitely ROCKS.

Electrocution 10-22-2005 11:02 AM

The Roots are from Pennsylvania.

Bukowski 10-22-2005 11:06 AM

Scotland: Jesus and Mary Chain, or Belle and Sebastien

Capdown are the best live band though.

HitHardDrums55 10-22-2005 11:29 AM

EonBlueApcolyps 10-22-2005 11:44 AM

Pixies, Piebald, Big D and the Kids Table, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

dr._feelgood 10-22-2005 11:48 AM

Hmmm... The Ramones would have to be my favorite New York band.

Danzo 10-22-2005 11:57 AM

You can't have that, Hendrix wasn't British.
You can't have that, Hendrix wasn't British.
They were a band that started in London and 2 of the 3 members were British. All their first gigs were here in London and they lived here and they're managment and record labe;l was too British,

Hence The Jimi Hendrix Experience was from London.

Hmmm, I still think they're American because it IS Hendrix.

CarnageFairy 10-22-2005 01:47 PM

Good Charlotte 4 lyfe!

Eh. I'm not too sure of any bands that came from around here. The Dismemberment Plan started in DC, so I guess that counts.

HitHardDrums55 10-22-2005 01:50 PM

hendrix moved to london to get his band, therefore they started in london...so london gets the jimi hendrix experience, even though jimi hendrix himself was BORN in america...
