They're decent now, but yes, they sold out.

Pfff...just sounds like IVY league snobbery to me. Don't forget your roots sunshine boy :D

Necroses-bass 02-02-2005 02:10 PM
You cited three of the most generic metalcore bands ever: Zao, Hatebreed, and Walls of Jericho. Killswitch Engage just sold out and their new song sounds like a technical version of Hoobustank with screaming. The only really good band you cited in the category of "hardcore" was Unearth. Do you wonder why I'm focusing on your saying we should listen to hardcore? It's because emo is hardcore. Emo stands for "emotional hardcore" and some of the most ballsy, brutal bands I can think of are emo bands like Circle Takes the Square, pageninetynine, and Kaospilot. Open up your eyes, unless this is somebody making a joke account to mess with me. In that case, just fellate me; you'll probably get a more favorable reaction cum guzzler.
Necroses-bass 02-02-2005 02:18 PM

There is one thing i dont understand why is it a problem for a band to sell out it means they do a good job, its not like they're mainstream or summin

pixiesfanyo 02-02-2005 03:57 PM

No, selling out would consist of changing a band's typical sound in order to accomidate to the current musical trend.

The current musical trend in hardcore, is complex pop punk with screaming, and K.S.E. has turned into this.

Pop metal. I don't know where you're getting punk from.

CSD & the Soul Machines 02-02-2005 05:12 PM

Pop metal...that just sounds so wrong.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-02-2005 05:14 PM

Ugh, KSE's new singer is horrid. The new albums lyrics are horrible too.

SubtleDagger 02-02-2005 05:15 PM

AKA nu metal.

pixiesfanyo 02-02-2005 05:54 PM

I acutally meant to say metal.

I guess I'm a faggot.

ok..but how much say does the band have in this? Contracts with record companies who just wanna make bank can be evil documents, no?

pixiesfanyo 02-02-2005 06:14 PM

Then they are just stupid for not taking the time for reading the fine details.

CSD & the Soul Machines 02-02-2005 06:28 PM

Maybe they're illiterate?

It's an inside joke.

By the way, "scarlet" has payed off on word choice, no one's used it near as emo-esque as even I expected.

RunAmokRampant 02-02-2005 11:55 PM

pop metal? hmmm sounds like a contradictory to me

d0ped0g 02-03-2005 04:42 AM

pop-punk is more of a contradictory term, considering the foundation of punk music is anti-conformity.

pop-metal is really just nu-metal... which isnt really metal anyway.

maybe that's what they LIKE to play, and intended to play all this time.
i don't like hardcore per se, but if they play it, the probably enjoy it and thats not selling out. or you could just copy-paste tool lyrics for hooker with a pen*s to explain my point.

meh, whatever.

yay. thx runapok for inspiring me to think about confomity
i was so sure i'd have no song to enter for this challenge

thinking about it. the title was actually quite contradictory "rise against rebellion". But that was intentional.

Necroses-bass 02-03-2005 10:54 AM
Nah dude. Emo really is hardcore. Example: www.hxcmp3.com/bands/1710
there are sum really hardcore emo bands which are cool, but i tend not to go for a specific style in music as long as it sounds good.

and still A LOT(not all) of emo is soft pathetic bollocks in my opinion

Necroses-bass 02-03-2005 11:07 AM
Pop metal. I don't know where you're getting punk from.
Pop stands for Popular song and Metal IS and will remain a complex More talented popular style.
The confusion starts at the question: metal and rock are not popular styles. but they were in when they started, i'm afraid to say that if there won't be major changes in the alternative gategory (Take sikth for example) metal will go on doing what its doing; dying out.

Necroses-bass 02-03-2005 01:01 PM
Clearly you don't know how to do that listening thing if you think metal is dying out. Bands that proove you wrong:

Dillinger Escape Plan
Kayo Dot
The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Maudlin of the Well
Between the Buried and Me
just saying the metal scene is unfortunately decreasing in size at the moment (dunno about america but in europe it is).

and please don't try and put me down by saying i can't do stuff because its a waste of time.

ATC 02-03-2005 02:03 PM
Those emo bands that you think are soft pathetic bollocks are just not emo bands. To be emo you must be hardcore because emo means "emotional hardcore." Are these cunty soft bands hardcore? No. Therefore, they surely cannot be emotional hardcore, or shortened, emo.
quoted for truth.
its annoying that whenever you play a softer song, people go 'oh,man, you're playing emo again'.

SubtleDagger 02-03-2005 07:49 PM
Do you mean Morse Code?
.. .-. . -. -.- --.

That's Morse code.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-03-2005 09:24 PM

^---Or The Fall of Troy. I signed up for their mailing list to get info on future shows and new song information about 3 months ago, and still haven't received anything... the jerks. They are still amazing though.

SubtleDagger 02-03-2005 09:43 PM
But braille is more complex that what was typed. Weird. Whatever.

How about that Trophy Scars. I think I'll be able to see them live again this summer. Hot poop on a stick.
I know it's more complex, but you can't get a period on top without using a colon so I had to make due.

And yes, that's supposed to be as dirty as it sounds.

Disco Dragon 02-03-2005 10:47 PM

^^Hehe, you said "colon" and "period" in the same sentence. If that's not dirty talk, then I just don't know what is.

Disco Dragon 02-03-2005 10:49 PM

On that note as well...

"That's enough dirty talk, now let's walk funky..."

pixiesfanyo 02-04-2005 06:00 AM

Trophy Scars makes me happy.

I bought the blue shirt they sell Dfelon. The one with the little girl on it.
