WFTW is great...took me forever to actually hear the lyrics though, they are so intertwined with the music...
Who is older out of you and KingOfDudes, guitrguy?

/curious

And, I was listening to Waiting For The Worms, and got freaked out for no apparent reason.... weird.
That can happen during the Wall.

Riva 10-16-2004 08:06 PM

Yeah, that gave me a jolt. I was listening to it in bed, just going to sleep, and "Argh!", outta nowhere.

gmoneyguy 10-16-2004 08:07 PM

The Wall (the movie) is freakin awesome. Do you know it was written to reflect Roger Waters.

Yeah..that was floating around in this or some other thread...

lunch998 10-16-2004 08:19 PM

Yea hopefully I am going to buy that soon.

Riva 10-16-2004 08:54 PM

He thought it up after spitting at a fan that was being overactive, I heard.

And he was so full of remorse that he made the concept out to express his feelings.

Waters, from what i've heard was a major asshole. I hate it when musical geniuses are ****ers :(.

*considers*...so if I am an asshole...does that make me a musical genius?

BludgeonySteve 10-16-2004 09:07 PM

No, that's not what I meant at all.

Nice try though :thumb:

Permanent Solution 10-16-2004 09:08 PM

Thats what sucks, the greatest songwriters are always hard to get along with.

David and Roger are both very ambitious(sp?) with their music which was good and bad. They created wonderful music together, but eventually their drive caused too much conflict with each other.

TsukasaZero 10-16-2004 09:14 PM

Syd Barrett was the best member of the band.

Too bad he ****ed up his life with drugs.

black_sabbath634 10-16-2004 09:14 PM

im kind of confused on this who did what on pink floyd? who played what?

Permanent Solution 10-16-2004 09:16 PM

Waters - Vocals/Bass
Gilmour - Guitar
...Help me out more intelligent people lol

Kingofdudes 10-16-2004 09:18 PM

Gilmour did vocals too^
Nick Mason - Drum
Rick Wright - Keyboardist

TsukasaZero 10-16-2004 09:19 PM

Roger Waters - Bass, Vocals
David Gilmour - Guitar, Vocals for most albums
Syd Barrett - Vocals, Guitar on first 2 albums
Nick Mason - Drums
Rich Wright - Keyboards

I think Nick and Rich are in the right spots...

Riva 10-16-2004 09:45 PM

Does anyone now what the cover of Delicate Sound Of Thunder is supposed to symbolise? Or is it just a trippy piece of art?

And I'm pretty sure the line-up is:

Roger Waters - Lead Vocals and Bass
David Gilmour - Lead Guitar and Vocals
Richard Wright - Keyboards
Nick Mason - Drums

Syd Barrett was originally the Lead Guitarist and Vocalist, but was replaced by David.
There are also various session players for Saxophones, other percussion, etc.

weatherman123 10-16-2004 09:47 PM

yeah, thats correct ^
my favorite floyd song is comfortably numb becasue when I heard it on PULSE, the second solo moved me more than any other peice of music ever has
my favorite floyd lyrics are off of Learning To Fly, Time, and Have A Cigar

**** good song though, I was suprised when I first heard that Roy Harper sang on that track.

Permanent Solution 10-16-2004 11:10 PM

Which song?

Meh...doesn't matter all Floyd's stuff is great :p

ledpoisoning27 10-17-2004 12:04 AM

pink floyd is one of the greatest bands one all time.
they made music into art and symbolism

my favorite ablum right now is the wall because all the songs go together so well and for the person who asked the wall is a story on roger waters aka 'pink' who is a burnout rockerstar who just sits in his hotel room all day, building a 'wall' around himself and his emotions.

i havent yet watched DSotM with wizard of OZ but i heard somewhere that alice in wonder land is also synced with the wall but im not sure if its true

also i dont think pink floyd will ever get back together because their are to much arrguements over money and they just arent getting along.

I might be going to see the Australian Pink Floyd show soon
if any one has seen it please tell me if its good or not
