I said, also the ones I suggested above, two of which have a link for extra ease.
Heaven Shall Burn - The Weapon They Fear (Black metal-inspired metalcore) Lullacry - Don't Touch The Flame (Very commercial sounding gothic rock) Jack Off Jill - Devil With The Black Dress On (Marilyn Manson's perverted little sisters) Queensryche - I Don't Believe In Love (80s prog metal) X-Japan - Rusty Nail (Japanese metal, very melodic) The first two can be found here - http://www.centurymedia.com/audio/MP3/mp3.html |
 I never notcied that until you mentioned it. It either sounds like that or someone using a tablesaw while they were recording.
Yeah. I really like it when stuff like that happens in songs though. There's one Radiohead B-side where you can hear Thom's girlfriend washing up in the background. It gives it a human, intimate quality. |

ok im not into most metal especialy this metalcore stuff but...
Heaven Shall Burn - The Weapon They Fear starts off Woah, starts off hard, male singer imeadily starts screaming:eek: dominating heavy guitars, nice drum beat. "Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeence!" lyrics are realy repetative, the silence scream is getting anoying. the song is really repetative, i dont realy like the singers voice, i like the heaviness of the guitars, allthough the progression isnt to creative. around one minute it gets cool, speed metal like. singer is stlye anoying as hell. "Oppppppppppppppreeesssssssion!" 2:30 nice bridge or whatever hey you can hear the bass! asuming that in parts of the song the drummer is using some double bass pedels. no solo. felt let down. oh well. 6/10 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stanley Clarke - Hello Jeff <------great harder rock song. Stanley Clarke - School Days |

Nice to see you're taking this thread to heart, mekka.
I'll take dibs on this one; go easy if I'm a little over 2 hours though, I'm on dial-up and I can only find 192kbps versions. |
All I've heard of this guy previously is a song he did with Allan Holdsworth (If Only This Bass Could Talk)
Stanley Clarke - Jeff Boy - 4:53 (about) Okay, starts off mid-tempo, really fluid, flowing guitar, bass and piano, I think. This is the sort of thing I was expecting based on If Only This Bass Could Talk. At roughly 1:00, drums come in and the tone of the song pretty much changes. The drums make it sound harder, and the song is mostly focused on the guitar (which is either continually soloing, or playing a very long, notey phrase over and over). If I concentrate somewhat, I can hear the pretty good bass in the background. The whole thing cools down for a second around 3:16 with a twang on the guitar, and the guitar starts playing a different melody, again supported by an above average bass performance. The drums are starting to show off a bit towards the end as well, adding the odd extra flourish. I like the impression of racing towards the end that the bass gives me, and the song pretty much fades out like that, though with a final sting from the guitar. Well, I really liked the beginning, before the minute mark, and the rest was enjoyable, if not spectacular. 7/10, though I would've preferred it to carry on in the vein of the first minute. Songs: Arghoslent - The Purging Fires of War or Incorrigible Bigotry (instrumental) (melodic death metal) Axis of Perdition - Ruined Nation Awakens (black metal with industrial influence) Blue Öyster Cult - Golden Age of Leather (Classic rock) Dog Fashion Disco - Headless or Vertigo Motel (Zappa/Bungle-esque carnival freak rock) |

Dog Fashion Disco - Headless
~I've heard about this band, but have never checked them out before~ Starts off with powerful, distorted guitars. Pretty nice. At 27 seconds, the verse comes in. I love the keyboard in this. It really adds. I love the lyrics too. Strange. "I, I am coming to California kill you". 47 seconds, it changes to the powerful distorted guitars again, then going back to the original verse at somewhere before 1:00. 57 seconds, there's a flute mini-solo. It goes back to the original verse. Here's the chorus. I love the guitar in this part. The vocalist is quite good. Original. 2:00, it continues on with the heavy distorted guitars. 2:25, there's a little solo happening. Not technical, but it mixes well with the music. And Wow! Is that a xylophone solo I hear?! Nice. Now the guitar and the xylophone are mixing together, which leads back to the chorus part with heavy distorted guitars. It repeats, this time with the vocalist singing. It's starting to end with under a minute to go. He's repeating the chorus. Ends on a note, in which it just fades out. I digged that song. Very cool, and different at the same time. I really liked the drumming in this song, along with the guitar. The bass was also quite good during the flute mini-solo, and further on. This band is definately different, and I was looking for that, when I heard you say they were Zappa/Mr. Bungle-ish. 8.5/10 Suggestions: Galloglass - Dragons Revenge ( Power Metal ) Symphorce - Face of Pain ( Power Metal-ish__Not too much in this song ) Praxis - Cold Rolled and Iron Dub aka Cold Rolled / Iron Dub ( jazz fusion-ish experimental metal? ) Gordian Knot - Surround Me (progressive metal) |

It's the rules man. And wouldn't you be pissed off if you did a big review, only to find out that the person who did your review did a different song intentionally, or did someone elses song altogether? |
