I've been really into Jeff Buckley lately. A friend sent me a load of his stuff, now I have two of his albums.
Erase it as fast as you can.

Been listening to some Roxy Music.

br3ad_man 01-21-2006 05:39 AM

High on Fire. I saw pixiesfanyo say they were the best metal band ever or something, so I checked them out. Not quite the best metal band ever, but still rather awesome.

You rock. Erik Petersen is the dude in Mischief Brew isn't he? Is any of his stuff in his own name any good?

Zappa 01-21-2006 07:16 PM

The way Captain Beefheart uses mellotron on Doc at the Radar Station is pretty remarkable.

This album is so, so good.

The Live at the Punx Festival is the only one of his I have, and it's good. It's essentially Mischief Brew with only guitar. I'm gonna go get some more of his solo stuff off of slsk right now.

Big Black
Don Caballero

Daniel! 01-21-2006 09:13 PM

I found some good bootlegs of Mischief Brew, Ghost Mice, and Fugazi that I'm digging right now.

Guitar Wolf - PLanet of the Wolves

I don't really need this much stimulation at 11:00 at night, but I'm sure enjoying it.

Thrice - Artist/ambulance
GBV - Bee Trousand
Prefuse 73 - One Word Extinguisher
Prefuse 73 - Surrounded by Silence

Bukowski 01-22-2006 10:43 AM

Olivia Tremor Control - Dusk at Cubist Castle

OTC are much cooler than i expected.

ATM 01-22-2006 11:21 AM

Stephen Malkmus - s/t

Zappa 01-22-2006 12:00 PM

Pietasters - Oolooloo
Charlier Parker - At Storyville

The former is cool soul-tinged ska-punk, and the latter is a couple of Boston Radio sets that Parker played in 1953, which I picked up on vinyl for 4 bucks.

Robert Crumb 01-22-2006 12:13 PM

Listening to some John Cale. Did anyone ever listen to Black Acetate? Is that worth getting?

Daniel! 01-22-2006 01:05 PM
Pietasters - Oolooloo
Such a fun band. I picked up some cool 3 disc thing with 4 of their albums for $20 last year.

OrbDragon 01-22-2006 02:29 PM

Prefuse73 - One Word Extinguisher
Timesbold - Eye Eye
Cat Power - The Greatest
Lamb - Lamb
Young Gods - L'Eau Rouge

Is it me or are the Young Gods totally underrated. They have been a mainstay, ever since I saw in them live. I've been listening to L'Eau Rouge like a baby pig sucking it's mothers teet dry.

Daniel! 01-22-2006 03:51 PM

Guitar Wolf - Panet of the Wolves
Melt Banana - Cell Scape
Fugazi - Some bootlegs I got yesterday
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home

Zappa 01-22-2006 04:28 PM

Captain Beefheart - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)

I also just listened to his Ice Cream for Crow, but it's not that hot. The above is shaping up to be excellent.

Hmph, Ice Cream for Crow is one of my favorite Beefheart albums.

I've been listening to a ton of Busdriver lately, along with The Fire Show - Saint The Fire Show(Pleasant abstract poppy stuff).

Oh and also the new Grayskul album, Name In Vain.

It didn't make a great first impression. Doc at the Radar Station and Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller), on the other hand, were instant hits in my book.
