Prison Sechs is my favorite on Undertow.....that intro is terrific.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-11-2005 04:00 PM
Quoted to emphasize a certain part.

4 Degrees and Prison Secks are both awesome. Best on Undertow, methinks.
I swear you edited. I wouldnt get mad at you for no reason :-*

Rothmans 08-11-2005 04:00 PM

Flood is by far the best song on undertow.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 04:03 PM
Prison Sechs is my favorite on Undertow.....that intro is terrific.
The intro owns, from the destruction via whammy bar to the very Tom Morello-ish riff. Great song.

Darkness 08-11-2005 04:15 PM

I love Prison Sechs and Flood... and Intolerance...

For some reason I don't care for 4 Degrees... It's ok though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 04:18 PM

 Sex isn't even censored, why's everyone saying sechs?

/me started trend

Nerium 08-11-2005 04:24 PM

A pig in a cage on antibiotics 08-11-2005 04:38 PM

I sopose most of you guys are american, the radio over there is probly prety good. not like over here in Ireland you know there's sheep herdin contests and farm news and all that sorta sh** on the radio over here ;) Tool had beter come here on their next tour, they were only here twice before tho.

dUSK 08-11-2005 04:39 PM
Btw i dunno how to use the Quote Thing :S
For now just use the Blue 'Reply' button in the bottom right hand corner of the post you wish to quote. After doing that a few times you'll see how to use the code properly. :)

Trintar_VIII 08-11-2005 04:44 PM

I've heard Stinkfist, Schism, Sober, Push*t, and one other that I can't remember on the radio. I was really suprised when Push*t came on. I scared the other people in the car when I gasped.

A pig in a cage on antibiotics 08-11-2005 04:50 PM

hey, heres something...stupid for ya. well you know the quiet part in ticks and leeches i spent AGES listening and relistening and fiddeling with sound settings on my computer and i came up with the following, just listen real close to maynards whispering, i know people say you can hear whatever you want to hear but i listened and this leapt out at me and i listened again and again and it seams right

4:08 I hope your child chokes
4:14 I hate this I hate you
4:24 you stupid ****
4:27 shut your ***

theres othere stuff in there too but just give it a listen and see what you think. id like a second opinion. thanks.

feel free to critisise.

Kage 08-11-2005 04:52 PM

I never even put any thought into it, but it's interesting. I'll make sure to listen for that next time I listen to the song.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 04:54 PM

Everytime I listen to Lateralus it seems like I discover something new. For instance, I know some people have probably noticed this, but listen to the last few seconds of Parabola. It kind of bugs me that they put so much extra stuff in the music. :p

A pig in a cage on antibiotics 08-11-2005 05:04 PM

do you mean the crickets chirpin'? oh while were talkin about lateralus do you all know what the cross thing on the last page of the lateralus booklet is? on the faq it says that its unknown. but i know what it is. its a vajra, a symbol of power and spirit from the visionary realms. did anyone know this already? or did i just make a discovery?!! i can give you the source i got it from if you want. did anyone else know this???

incubliss 08-11-2005 05:05 PM

you noticed how on Schism in most parts, it's Maynards voice layered. one version a higher octave than the other, you can hear it ever so slightly.

http://www.teleincision.com/music/

anyone noticed this? i think the teleincision site is just some knob who's noticed the the rumour, and bought the domain. i really hope not tho, i hope there's some news or tuesday.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 05:12 PM

The IP adress that it was created on did prove to be non-affiliated with Tool. Someone on Something Awful forums also admitted to doing it. :-/ What a fag/loser.

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-11-2005 06:01 PM
 That sounds funny...

Yeah, it's filler, but that doesn't stop it rocking! It's better than Jimmy.
haha it is. Jimmy is a very weak track. Or atleast, compared to the rest of the real songs, it is a weak track.

Rothmans 08-11-2005 06:05 PM

I remember I gave some stuff into whispering and you can hear them going fuk yeah and whooing at the end.

BlindWriting 08-11-2005 06:13 PM

I love Jimmy, I don't know why people dislike it. Pushit is the only song that took a long time for me to grown on.

Otherside 08-11-2005 06:16 PM

I've always loved pushit, the ambience is just great, and I love the guitar tone throughout the song.

Syncratic 08-11-2005 06:35 PM

I noticed the crickets at the end of Parabola.....could it be some tie-in to the Holy Gift business? Who knows........

Huber 08-11-2005 06:40 PM

The riff he plays following the guitar solo makes me have joygasm after joygasm.

could you direct me to the post/thread on SA?

BlindWriting 08-11-2005 07:09 PM

Woah, that teleincision.com/music page had an entire NIN live show.

Shadius 08-11-2005 08:08 PM

So anyway, Jimmy's a weak track.

Discuss.

Honestly, if it was on Undertow it would still be one of the weaker tracks, as opposed to being the weakest track on Ænima. I actually prefer Message to Harry Manback and Intermission over Jimmy. I just don't see how the song is special at all, it just seems the most bland and unoriginal to me. I don't find it especially "dark" either, Pushit, Third Eye and Hooker are surely equally as dark? In fact, Pushit is far darker.

If we're talking instrumentally dark, Third Eye and Hooker have it beat. Lyrically, Pushit has it beat.

I understand it sounds like a very personal song to Maynard, but I just don't think he projects it very well on that song.

Yeah I see what you mean. Every band has weak moments though...Its okay. Its not unlistenable. Im just now starting to appreciate the last half of the album like I should though so I dunno...

Trintar_VIII 08-11-2005 08:32 PM

I listened to Jimmy to see if I understand why most of the people in here dislike it. I must say, I can't really find why someone wouldn't like it. Sure it's not as good as Third Eye or Eulogy, but it's still a good song. I really like the way Maynard sings in this song and how he holds out "home." It seems to mainly come down to opinion. I guess I agree that it isn't one of the better songs, but I wouldn't put it below the "filler" tracks. I like it more than some of the songs on Undertow and Opiate, so it's not all that bad.

Darkness 08-11-2005 08:36 PM

It is a good song, but fails in comparison to the others.

Mr Herb 08-11-2005 08:36 PM

As already said, jimmy is just increadibly bland, any other tool song beats it.:)

BlindWriting 08-11-2005 08:37 PM

Meh. Underrated.

Daven 08-11-2005 08:40 PM
It is a good song, but fails in comparison to the others.
That's exactly what i think about the song. Its a good song, but its on a cd where the song isnt on the same plane as the others. The other songs are just too good for it.

Moses 08-11-2005 09:07 PM

I'd say it's because they don't listen to the part about 4 minutes through.

Darkness 08-11-2005 09:11 PM

Whenever I play(ed) that cd, I'd listen to it. I think its a good song. But compared to H., Eulogy, 46 & 2 etc. Its just a formuletic, dark sounding rock song

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 09:39 PM

Why would Tool host a bunch of music on a website of theirs? And why would they have a SOAD cd on there?

disposition 08-11-2005 10:04 PM

I really dont see the need to compare Jimmy to any other song from any other album, do you guys think its lyrically weak or instrumentally weak, or both maybe? Why not compare the song Lateralus to lets say... Part of Me? Both are great songs in their own right wouldnt you say? But when you truly compare them they are vastly different, the complexity of Lateralus out weighs that of Part of me, making it “weaker” in that sense. Now if you just don’t like the song, thats an opinion, since it is my opinion that all Tool songs are perfect.
