Could someone fill me in on what's been going on...??

Yeah, I've also got 30 bucks.

Suggestions?

I know, I'm horrible with money :upset:
Buy some weed. :thumb:

thickasabrick 12-10-2004 06:06 PM
That's pretty cool.

"All Along The Watchtower" (Hendrix or Dylan, depending on the skill of those involved)
"The Times They Are A-Changin'", "Masters of War", "Blowin' in the Wind", "With God on Our Side", "Hurricane" (Dylan)
"Gimme Shelter" (the Stones)
"Machine Gun" (Hendrix...but it depends on the guitarist you can find)
"Vietnam" (Jimmy Cliff)
"War Pigs", "Children of the Grave" (Sabbath)

All come to mind.
that's some good ones, i'm open to any suggestions providing they are protest type songs. i am definitely doing Masters of War, by Dylan, probably a Joni Mitchell song or or two, War Pigs is a good idea, Vietnam definitely (that's what made me think of the whole idea)

all along the watchtower, i have some friends who could definitely play the hendrix version...i could try learning but im not a huge fan of electric, same with Machine Gun.

so anyone else who has other songs in mind is welcome to shout 'em out!

edit- oh damn im definitely doing fortunate son! :thumb:

Woodstock 12-10-2004 06:07 PM

Fortunate Son and Ohio.
Buy some weed. :thumb:
haha. i can't believe that's the only suggestion you had.

usually when money comes along my way i like to spend it on books, cds/records, weed :upset:, and going to movies. even though it usually ends up buying gas for my car.

i wanna do this peace concert without making it sound like an "anti-american" concert. like obviously the US is a major contributer to the violence that's going on, but im more against Bush than the US in general. and definitely not Star Spangled Banner, I'm Canadian.

Actually last year this guy at my school played O Canada for a talent show, and he dressed like Hendrix, played a left handed strat turned around, played behind his back and all that jazz. he made it sound totally like hendrix with lots of distortion, wah and adding lots of great fills. no one really understood it but me though.

Woodstock 12-10-2004 06:16 PM

Would you be able to do Mama, I Dont Wanna Be A Soldier?

thickasabrick 12-10-2004 06:19 PM
Would you be able to do Mama, I Dont Wanna Be A Soldier?
i've never heard it :amaze: ... who's it by?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-10-2004 06:21 PM

"Where have all the Flowers gone" Who sung that anyway?

Woodstock 12-10-2004 06:21 PM

John Lennon, it's off of Imagine.

And it's I Dont Wanna Be A Soldier Mama, I got it mixed up.

Badmoon 12-10-2004 06:23 PM

Hendrix would never sink that low.

thickasabrick 12-10-2004 06:26 PM

oh ok. i suppose lennon would be a good guy to look towards for peace songs.

give peace a chance would be a fun one to do.

thickasabrick 12-10-2004 06:28 PM
Hendrix would never sink that low.
what the hell is that supposed to mean?

it better not be a cheap shot at canada...

you don't see american teenagers having to put on concerts for charity because canada is killing harmless people.

thickasabrick 12-10-2004 06:35 PM

i was just kidding by the way about the america thing... if you guys can think of anymore protest songs i will be very grateful, i dont really have enough to make a big concert out of at this point.

but i must be going. im going to venture drinking again for the first time since in a few months...i hope it goes well. Have fun you guys!!! and pray i do too.

Badmoon 12-10-2004 06:44 PM
you don't see american teenagers having to put on concerts for charity because canada is killing harmless people.
Well, we leave that to our Emo brothers up north :thumb: .

So Much Trouble In The World, War-Bob Marley
I'm The Slime-Frank Zappa

You seem to have replaced "considerate and caring for more than just theirselves" with "emo".

Explain.

Creedence Clearwater 12-10-2004 08:22 PM

It was my birthday yesterday and I got two new records and a DVD.

Cosmos Factory- CCR
Greatest hits- Bob Dylan

The whitlams DVD <--Its an Australian band, not classic rock

Do any of you have tips for cleaning acoustic guitar strings?

Badmoon 12-10-2004 09:03 PM

- Need a rag

- Need water

BludgeonySteve 12-10-2004 09:03 PM
I'm joking. How did Thickasabrick manage to get the joke, and you didn't?

Hehe, he didn't get the joke. He got mad and so did I. It wasn;t very joke like.

And the only reason why Hendrix never came to Canada is because 30000 tickets sold in Canada is like 30000 tickets in the USA exept the Canadian dollar is worth less.

And it's cold :cold:

Creedence Clearwater 12-10-2004 09:04 PM

so hendrix never went to canada?

/adds fact to classic rock knowledge scrap book

Creedence Clearwater 12-10-2004 09:05 PM
Do any of you have tips for cleaning acoustic guitar strings?
depending on there composition, you could boil them. ie. if they are not coated in anything.

Woodstock 12-10-2004 09:07 PM
depending on there composition, you could boil them. ie. if they are not coated in anything.
No, I just mean a fast easy clean that'll take 5 minutes.

Badmoon 12-10-2004 09:08 PM
And the only reason why Hendrix never came to Canada is because 30000 tickets sold in Canada is like 30000 tickets in the USA exept the Canadian dollar is worth less.
It wasn't about that. It was that the chances of Hendrix playing the Canadian anthem is very very slim.

BludgeonySteve 12-10-2004 09:10 PM

This is true, Canada wasn't in a war so there was no need to protest againsted us!

/uncalled for

jpj 12-10-2004 09:12 PM
Do any of you have tips for cleaning acoustic guitar strings?
You can get string cleaner, just put it on a rag and wipe the strings.

Creedence Clearwater 12-10-2004 09:13 PM

/wish people saw the post about my birthday.........

Woodstock 12-10-2004 09:13 PM

Meh, forget it, the rag is my friend.

I listened to some Velvet Underground and Nico tonight. Some of it was good like Venus In Furs.
