dude, you listen to prog metal
and your point is? I do like some metalcore, and I'll admit that the vocalist sounded "better" than some in the genre, but that was terrible. I'm sorry. |
how is their music terrible?
because I've heard that riff 124,456 times already, I don't want to hear it again. (The chicken 40 cigarette song) |
Prog listeners typically expect alot more from musicians.

"that riff" very descriptive bro and tbh, theyve got mad variation from song to song, and theyre better than most national bands live
and your point is? cool, i didnt realize the opening riff of one of their songs (specifically one of the first songs they wrote, when neither of their guitarists had played in a band before) exemplifies their entire portfolio

If they're willing to use that riff, I'm sure the rest of their **** can't be stuff I'd be too interested in. |
yeah dude theyre writing their music for pretentious morons who think that death invented death metal
and for the record, that riffs not even a bad riff, it's just generic |
yeah dude theyre writing their music for pretentious morons who think that death invented death metal
fine, I'll take another look. But dude, I listen to prog metal. edit: Yeah, not my style, not even close. I actually hate that kind of music. |
i think they might be black metal actually the vocals are kinda high pitched
but trav does some lows so maybe its blackened death? |
what band are you guys talking about? I wanna hear it.

my friends, interviewers complaining that the first ep theyve ever recorded is terrible because the opening riff of one song is generic |

no, I don't like the band. Sorry, I listened to more than one song, and I actually HATE that style of music. Sorry I can usually tell how good a band is in the first 15 seconds of the first song I hear by them. Honestly, that band is terrible. It's funny that you like them. |
okay, here, let me put it this way: from what ive gathered you seem to only like things that are perceived as monumental, when in reality, its just cheesy pretentious garbage
its cool, you dont have to like them, but they really arent terrible also, their drummers 15 |
Meh, there nothing revolutionary, but they are nowhere near bad...
|

Post of the year. Consider this nominated. And yeah The End Of 600 Years is good stuff. Oh and I'm pissed that From Autumn To Ashes broke up. |
i second that post of the year remark, good ****
i never listened to them anyway so i cant say that im heartbroken about it |
Judging how good a band is in a genre you don't listen to is retarded
forget quote of the year, this is quote of the decade |
Judging how good a band is in a genre you don't listen to is retarded
No, it's not retarded at all, it's pretty easy, especially if you play an instrument and understand what it takes to write a song. ( a good song) I'm sorry, I get a little biased towards a band when the first riff or musical idea I hear from them is the kind of riff I could write (and most good guitarists) in my sleep 25-50 times an hour, with as good of quality or better quality than the actual riff. Good songwriting takes time and thought, and both songs I heard from these guys either was done without thought, or these guys aren't good songwriters and it takes a ton of work even to come up with something generic. edit: You guys honestly lack the musical knowledge to judge bands in genres you don't listen to? |
now you're just generalizing about the entire situation
something that is generic to your ear may not be to other people |
now you're just generalizing about the entire situation
something that is generic to your ear may not be to other people
honestly, if you don't think the opening riff in the "40 Chicken Cigarette" song is generic, I don't know what to say. I'm going to listen to it again, and grab my guitar and see if I can play it on the first try, without missing ONE note. |

That's beef. |
its not about that man. sometimes i dont give a **** if a band writes a riff that i can come up with in two effin seconds. i've been playing guitar for 6 years and sometimes even the most generic sounding p.o.s. to you will sound cool to someone else. im not trying to change your opinion just dont generalize
