I'm probably going to see Bill Callahan next Saturday. I just got home from Justin Timberlake.
|
did you see The Boredoms and Michael Gira? I saw them in Glasgow, and it was rather spectaculer.
My next show is Mark Kozelek on Wednesday.
I was going to go to that BUT IT'S AN 18+ SHOW! How the hell is it when I see Animal Collective in the exact same venue and that's a 14+? |
Boris were awesome, and the drummer was indeed the happiest guy ever. He started crowd surfing towards the end of the show and then banging the gong like crazy haha
Hmm upcoming shows for me: Circle Takes the Square (on Monday) Little Brother/ Evidence Madlib/ Peanut Butter Wolf Band of Horses/ Drones (maybe) Galactic/ Charli 2na/ Mr. Lif/ Lifesavas Dr.Dog Om Sleeping People Most Serene Republic |
has that sold out yet AR? i imagine it has
I think so, I'd be suprised if it hasn't. |

How the hell is it when I see Animal Collective in the exact same venue and that's a 14+?
yep, I've never understood why this happens either. have you ever tried going to an 18+ show? Last summer, I saw Animal Collective in King Tuts. It was 18+ as well, and I'd just turned 17. I bought the ticket, and got in fine. I think they're more accepting if you HAVE the ticket, rather than buying at the door. If you really wanna go, find someone you know who's over 18 and has photo ID which could pass as you, and take that. Me and my friends used to do this all the time when we went to glasgow. |
THEY DONT CARE AT 18+ SHOWS, the only limit they care at is 21+
|

I suppose I might get in but I don't want to buy a ticket and it ends up being a waste. |
if you cant get in they'll probably refund you your money, just tell them you didnt know it was 18+
|
Every ticket I've bought, it says at the back, "THIS TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE"
|
18+ shows shouldn't exist. I mean, I don't think 21+ shows should exist, either, but at least that kind of makes sense. Still, the idea that music should only be available to certain people is severely fucked.

the people at the venue are people too, just stress your situation to them |

Yeah, 18+ shows have never made much sense to me either. |

And make them believe you live hours and hours away. Pity is the key. |
Fake an accent and say you travelled all the way from Eastern Europe.
|
21+ shows make sense so they dont have to card everyone who wants to buy a drink, but 18+ makes no sense. are they making it more efficient to vote in there or what?
|
The drinking limit in the UK is 18...so it kinda makes sense.

im saying in the US it doesnt make sense.
|
it probably stems from the "You must be 18 to smoke cigarettes" law.
or maybe because 18 is the age where you can begin "legally" having intercourse in many states. |
There are no age limits on shows here, far as I know.
|
16+ where I live mostly. Which is sweet because I just turned 16 :)
|
Busted.
|
At least that's what you tell them.
ahahah |

Nice. How was JT? |
It was pretty much exactly what you'd expect, so it was awesome in that way. He's a really nice dude and he plays lots of instruments.

18+ gigs are good cause you don't get little fan boys and girls.
|
18+ shows are better overall but it totally sucks for the few kids who are actually into it.
