Hey thanks dude

I love it.

Every day I put on all of my COB CD's and practice while they are playing. So now I have some more practice time!

Did you already have Follow The Reaper?

Sixpounder was pretty easy, considering CoB.

I've pretty much quit guitar but yah.

Britton 01-23-2006 12:28 AM

Yea the only one i didn't have was Hatebreeder

so thanks

why did you quit?

I got it back from the shop yesterday.

2 weeks not playing+ 2 weeks in the shop= a month out of practice.

Sixpounder, I was doing fine. I started that after I got it back.

Needled 24/7, the intro solo and main lead riff I could play just fine.

Everything else though, mostly Raining Blood, really pointed out but bad and rusty my timing has gotten with stuff I played before.

I can play the rest of Raining Blood fine but,

The intro walkdown, My fingers are either wayyy ahead of my picking or the other way... I'm completly off on "Pull Harder"..

The part of Nightwish's Planet Hell, I had learned right before the neck warped over.

The quiet place, is fairly off on timing as well.

I could play all that stuff pretty much perfect before and I don't see the point in basically re-learning all that stuff.

I love playing Raining Blood most of all. BTW. I had played Raining Blood for a year.

end of story.... I don't feel like re-learning all that stuff. No point in playing it if the timings are so ****ed up.

eddie_the_great 01-23-2006 03:25 AM

You'll get it back eventually. I went away for about 3 weeks a while ago and came back playing horribly, but I've picked it back up in a week or so.

It wasn't just bad... It was plain awful.

I had played everyone .. perfect/almost perfect before.

I just don't seem the point in learning all the songs over.

Cuz I have the complete wrong timings in my head, because I havn't played in a month.

I'd have to learn each song over to get it right.

It's not just,

My picking is rusty or something minor that I can fix in a week.

IheartSP 01-23-2006 12:57 PM

Hoorah! I have succesfully learned all of Silent Night, Bodom Night. Some parts of the solo and the sweeps in the main riff give me a bit of trouble but overall it doesn't sound too bad.

repcak 01-23-2006 01:00 PM

congrats

IheartSP 01-23-2006 01:09 PM

I'd record it but unfortunately I can't play it well enough for me to record it and not rip all my hair out in the process.

repcak - glad you like it, I think it's kinda cool too.[/QUOTE]

I just realised now that the link i posted was the same as REPCAK posted right after me, that's weird. And he couldn't have know that it is the same clip because on the forum, you have to log in. And he probably isn't registered...

Britton 01-23-2006 01:16 PM

I'm learning Paginni's 5th Caprice at the moment. So I've taken a break from all the bodom stuff I've been learning. I'm gona use it as my main showpiece. I'm trying to get into a music school. (It's a highschool for arts in S.A) I can play the first thirty bars perfectly....but there are like 180 total...it took me a whole week to get the timimg and all the stretching right. But it's already pating off. My lead guitarist started playing tool and when he was done I played what I know of the Caprice and everyone was saying stuff like "Oh that takes real skill"...so my lead player was pissed.

I learnt some of that too but I've never heard anyone in the world play it cleanly at all apart from Becker, Vai and some classical guitarists, I'd be interested in how clean you could play it.

Are you learning it by ear? I'm fairly sure that in one issue of Guitar World Yngwie Malmsteen shows you how to play it. You may want to look it up.

repcak 01-23-2006 02:14 PM

have any of you seen the video of jason becker playing it in a high school... i think he was 15 or something like that... amazing

I have that but it's an octave lower than I like it. Becker's version is better imo.
And
Yes, I've seen the Becker video, I've seen pretty much all Becker videos on the net.

Toaster 01-23-2006 02:23 PM

Where did you find the Becker version? I'm assuming you found a transcription somewhere.

MRDuCran 01-23-2006 02:35 PM

Powertab.

That's probably my favorite song off of Hatecrew Deathroll. Next to Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood.

MRDuCran 01-23-2006 05:06 PM

It's my favourite album, it has such a dark sound to it, so cool.
I love them all.

Hatecrew Deathroll and Follow The Reaper are my favorites. Although they are all awesome, I like these best. Hatebreeder was really awesome, but I don't care for his vocals as much on that album. They seem sloppy or something.

Hatebreeder is by far my favorite album. Go listen to some Black Metal and those vocals will sound like Britney Spears

I don't usually pay much attention to harsh vocals unless they are unusually good, like Wintersun's or Arch Enemy's.

MRDuCran 01-23-2006 05:37 PM

I do love most of the songs off FtR but there's a few on there that are a bit meh for me to LOVE it.
I recently went through a "OMGILOVEHATEBREEDERSOOMUCH" phase where i learnt all the songs so I ended up liking them all, but now they're getting a bit boring.
HCDR was the first album I actually bought, plus I loved Bodom Beach Terror, Needled and Sixpounder beforehand and the rest of it was just as brilliant.
AYDY I love too but not as much as HCDR.

Btw I love Hate Crew Deathroll.

Back then, Alexi had the perfect black metal voice. All he would've needed was reverb on his voice and an answering machine to record on.

It's really hard for me to pinpoint which album is my favorite. Right now I'm going through a Hate Crew Deathroll phase. The album is like brutal power metal; completely unique. I love the balance of soloing and riffing. I've been meaning to learn Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood, but I haven't finished tabbing it yet thanks to my homosexual school. Hopefully I can get it tonight and start getting the rhythm parts down.

HCDR almost seems like Groove/Power, just because it is such heavy thrash combined with power metal melodicness and leads.

MRDuCran 01-23-2006 06:06 PM

What do you use to tab stuff?

IheartSP 01-23-2006 06:07 PM

I use guitar pro 5.
