i was really serious about all that...

youd have to admit it, walking into music store and seeing dudes throw down for misrepresenting his favorite thrash, psuedo hardcore, melodic death metal band...
 jerk!
Oops, I meant Unearth. I guess it doesn't matter, because I don't know either of those bands.
I think you'd like Unearth, they've got a lot of melodic death influence and they utilize breakdowns in proper manner.

Not really, you're in a serious relationship, that's respectable.

NP: Killswitch Engage - World Ablaze

This song is really different from any other songs they've done, which is good, I like originality.

I'm trying to get my old account merged to this one. That'll mean my join date will be back to Dec 2004 and I'll get an extra 225 posts. Hopefully DBJ will oblige.

Hey dudes, could you listen to this song that I wrote and tell me what you think of the mix, musical aspect, and whether or not you can potentially hear vocals over it? I haven't recorded the vocals yet, but I have lyrics written...I'm basically concerned that with the time signature changes it may sound too busy for vocals to fit. Disregard the solo, it's really out-of-place and when I get the opportunity I'm just gonna do away with it all together. The part underneath it is just much too grooving: I'll probably write a harmony riff or something.

For those who are interested, it's a straight-eights groove that alternates between 4/4 in the verse, 5/8 in the pre-chorus, 3/4 in the chorus, and three measures of 6/8 and one measure of 7/8 in the instrumental interlude. I think that I way I have the vocals going, it'll be a catchy prog song.

It's called "The Fear of the Faithful."

Just listened and it sounded good, and I thought it was fine as an instrumental; but then I do like instrumental music a lot. The song came up as 'Lucas Shine - Tapestries' when I played it, that is right, right?
Hehe.

Hey, it's not that bad. :P
Actually, I think it's because Stella makes people aggressive. Or so it's said anyway.

Cain 01-26-2006 04:51 PM

Hrmmm. I thought I'd successfully changed the title.

It's supposed to be called what I said it was. "Tapestries" was the working title. :p The artist is quite correct.

Hep Kat 01-26-2006 04:57 PM

Nice song.

Ad Absurdum 01-26-2006 05:01 PM
Hehe.

Hey, it's not that bad. :p
Actually, it's one of the worst over here. For a nation of alcoholics, we do make really weak beer. Tennents is probably the most Scottish lager and that's only 4.1% I think, Belhaven Best is somewhere in the 3s. So when you Belgians bring us 5.2% and we drink them like we drink our normal beer (i.e. excessivly) we get aggressive.
Anywho, what do y'all have planned for the weekend? Mine's shapin' up to be pretty damn good: Spend the weekend with my girlfriend then my band records Sunday. Woohoo!.
Sounds like a good weekend. Mines will probably be pretty quiet, I've got studying to do and I'm going to a football match on saturday. I'm going to try and go to the local pub tomorrow night, but I'll probably end up getting kicked out for being underage so I'll end up at a friend's house or something.

Cain, I really liked that song. Very good, very well written.

Bartender 01-26-2006 05:08 PM

Downloading it now, Cain, but I don't think it'll get played for a short while. Right now I'm listening to an acoustic version of Teardrop (one of the best songs ever written, I'm sure all you right-minded people would agree), and it's rather taking my attention.

Steerpike 01-26-2006 05:17 PM

I gotta get this off my chest.

Our movie is set to premiere in two days and some fuckwit deleted the entire thing from the computer lab. We were going to finish the editing tonight.

This is not fucking fair! We worked on this movie for a whole month, and some schmuck deletes it before we have a chance to export the final project. We're now faced with two choices.

1. Debut the unpolished version with minimalist color correction and audio editing that we turned in for the deadline grade.
2. Recut the entire movie based on the dailies we still have, effectively restarting the editing from scratch. This also means re-submitting all of the music files and sound effects, re-doing all of the color correction and audio editing, and the countless video/audio transitions while trying to remember the exact settings we used and were so pleased with.

I don't fucking believe this. I just want to rip someone friggin' head off right now!

Bartender 01-26-2006 05:30 PM

Surely that'd count as some manner of extenuating circumstances? To get an extension to work more closely on re-editing it, I mean.

Steerpike 01-26-2006 05:34 PM

We already have the grade, that's not the issue.

The issue is that we're supposed to premiere this thing in two days, and it's been fucking obliterated. There's going to be a massive turn-out from campus, the local newspapers, the public, the whole deal. This is great fucking timing, ain't it?
