Lastnight I went to my first decent show, which was fun/hardwork. Throughout the night, a fat guy stage dived onto my head, someguy elbowed me in the face, my feet were constantly stood on and I almost lost my shoe when someone stood on it and it came off. I was in the mosh pit the whole night. How long do your ears having to be ringing for before it's safe to say the ringing isn't gonna go away?
i think the ringing usually lasts three days

what bands did you see?

yourstruly 06-09-2006 07:25 PM

It was a NZ battle of the bands thing called "Rockquest", the regional finals for the Bay of plenty/waikato region. 14 bands played 2 songs each. It was good, lots of pop/punk bands.

ZaaR 06-09-2006 07:27 PM

only 2 songs? when there is a battle of a bands here, it's like 15 bands playing 30 minutes worth of material

yourstruly 06-09-2006 07:39 PM

Are you serious?, that's like 7 and a half hours. Oh yeah a band that's famous in NZ called Falter played a small set at the end.
It was about a 2 hour show, and by the end I was screwed. So more than that I would be dead.

ZaaR 06-09-2006 07:42 PM

they usually go from 5pm 'till about 3 or 3:30 in the morning.

Pazz 06-09-2006 07:51 PM

What's going on guys?

The rockquest is lame now. A couple of years ago the bands were alot better, atleast where i'm from. If I had have bought my bass and got a couple of my friends to pull the rest of the positions we probably could have won, which shows how shit it is. I'll probably still go, ours is next weekend.
What's going on guys?
Absolutely nothing. I'm watching Session 9. I saw something about it in one of the threads in the Media Center so I decided to check it out.

Pazz 06-09-2006 08:55 PM

Heh. Same here. I'm talking to a couple of people over MSN and thinking on getting off and watching a movie.

cobert 06-09-2006 09:04 PM

Hello, my dear friends in the pop-punk community.

I am pleased to announce that your leader, I, Cob, has purchased Risk, the so-called "Game of global domination".

I am quite pleased with it. For the last several months, I could not find the set I used to own. Tomorrow, your leader, I, Cob, shall be holding a game with my colleagues and associates, and I expect it to be of great pleasure to myself and to the others. I proclaim, Risk is a nobleman's game!

Until I return from my time spent studying the fine contest,

Au revoir,
Robert

NO REALLY THOUGH IM STAYING HERE TO TALK.

Surtr 06-09-2006 09:06 PM

Pazz 06-09-2006 09:06 PM

 @ Cob

I have never played Risk before...

Stew: You aren't allowed in these parts anymore.:p

Stew: You aren't allowed in these parts anymore.:p
Ho!!! I must say, I don't know if Risk is a game for a pauper of your intellect.

OH SHIIIIIII (I think thats enough noble talk)

I always thought was some classic board game everyone played, and i found out last week that I'm the only person I know who's ever played it.

Pazz 06-09-2006 09:13 PM

We were going to play it in history class, but it takes too long.

cobert 06-09-2006 09:15 PM

Yeah, the last day of school was a half day, and one game took us all day long. It was fun though. So its about a 4 hour game.

Pazz 06-09-2006 09:16 PM

Yeah, classes are only 72 minutes long. Some people could of gone through their lunch, not me though, I have class after history. But that would still only be like 2 hours.

Surtr 06-09-2006 09:18 PM

[B]BATMAN RETURNS!

(For the next 30 seconds..then he leaves again..:()

cobert 06-09-2006 09:18 PM

haha, thats why you have to set a day aside for things like this. Its a very simple game, but contains a lot of strategy. To use a cliche....it takes 10 minutes to learn, yet requires a lifetime (read: about 6 games, cause they take that long) to master.

So guys..I'm offically addicted to Mx and having major trouble leaving.

Pazz 06-09-2006 09:29 PM

cobert 06-09-2006 09:30 PM

What's all this about stew leaving?

Pazz 06-09-2006 09:34 PM

He posted last night that he wasn't going to post anymore because he had a talk with his dad about internet safety.

Hello pop-punkers. How's it going?

I just got back from seeing the Unseen. It was a good show, but things ended up getting kind of ugly. :-\

Surtr 06-09-2006 09:36 PM

Well..I dunno..I just want to be more respectful to my parents, because so far trying to fight for what I think is right also hasn't worked, and I see no way of it working..

I fail guys..My true punk spirit is dying. :(

Explain.

Mute Print 06-09-2006 09:46 PM
Explain.
Okay, well, a few songs into the Unseen's set, I saw a bouncer walking toward the pit. Next thing I know, half the people in the pit are clearing toward the door. I couldn't really see what was going on, but here's what my dad told me happened:

A bunch of people were apparently mad, because the bouncer was trying to throw someone out. A few people even threw punches at the bouncer.

Then, when the bouncer got things under control, he started to walk a kid toward the door. As he was walking by the merch tables, some huge guy checked him, knocking him off balance, and collapsing one of the tables.

Then, I guess my dad grabbed this guy's arms, and pinned them behind his back. The guy was a lot bigger than my dad, but I guess my dad had him locked up pretty well. Then, as my dad was holding this guy, another bouncer came running toward him, and hit the guy in the face full-force. He then proceded to slam the guy into a wall, and throw him out the door, where the police were waiting for him.

The people running the show almost shut it down, because things were getting way out of hand. A lot of the kids there were complete assholes. They seemed to think they were so tough with their mohawks and plastic spikes.

But, other than that, it was a good show.

What's going on, guys and gals?

Horray for Dad's kicking peoples asses :)

Mute Print 06-09-2006 09:57 PM

I kind of wish I would have seen it.

I was in the mood to kill someone tonight. As much as I love punk music, some of the kids in the punk scene around here really suck. Punk is probably my least favorite local scene, even though I do enjoy the music. A lot of the kids are just really lame.

form 06-09-2006 09:59 PM

damn Brian, thats crazy.

I have a story, sort like that.

It was a local show, so the pits get broken up easily. and anyway were all doing our thing when the bouncers break everything up, so everyone is out, the floor is cleared, but I guess they for got about me.

So I'm by myself, thinking I'm moshing with a bunch of people, when I'm the only one there, then like 10 seconds later some guy comes up and grabs me and I'm like wtf? Then I see it was him and no one was around me.

Kinda embaressing (sp?) but it was fun :)

Surtr 06-09-2006 10:00 PM

I'm not overly big on showing or dressing Punk, but if my mind set could be classified I'd be a Punk. It's funny..Because our school is full of "Punks" and they're all awesome guys..But none of them are Punk..They all just dress it and act it..

Mattay:

DaveIsWrong 06-09-2006 10:02 PM

I have a somewhat embarassing story. I was at Warped a couple years ago watching the Coheed set. My friend decides that since I'm the lightest of us 3, I should go crowd surfing. So before I know it, two of my friends and like two more strangers help get me on top of the crowd, and I move up a good 20 feet towards the stage. Then...

I got dropped. On asphalt.
