I saw them live on their latest tour, definitely kicked ***. After the concert i thought to myself "Wow, that's the first metal concert i've ever been to and i bet i'll never top it..that is until they come back :thumb:

blue3 03-08-2005 10:43 PM

I wish I saw them live

playguitar 03-08-2005 10:48 PM
My problem with St Anger was that it sucked, not the different tuning. I listen to plenty of bands that don't play in Standard E and it doesn't bother me.
By the way does anyone know if they are planning another album or another tour? What's up with them lately lol

FlyingPaul_83 03-08-2005 10:54 PM
either he's kidding or can't play it right
He's probably talkin about the solo in the slow part of the song cause that solo aint too hard

FlyingPaul_83 03-08-2005 11:35 PM

hello? anybody here?

FlyingPaul_83 03-08-2005 11:37 PM

"Death Greets me warm now i will just say goodbye" .......goodbye

hatchedinalab89,

Obviously lars isn't one of the best drummers, although he has good stage presence. And of course kirk and james aren't the best guitarists nor metal vocalist, but hey, it's all subjective. I dont like when people say Jimi Hendrix is the best guitarist because to many people he's not, etc.

Huber 03-08-2005 11:57 PM

The skill level of all the members of the band have been talked about a ton. Especially Lars. Let's try and get off of Lars for awhile atleast.

metallicafan501 03-09-2005 12:09 AM

there is no best guitarist

\m/Pete\m/ 03-09-2005 12:32 AM

i am the best guitarist ever

Leper 03-09-2005 01:38 AM

IMO James is the best metal vocalist ever.

blue3 03-09-2005 01:43 AM

I like James voice a lot

Po0osH 03-09-2005 02:04 AM

Yeah i like his too, but I don't think he is the best, but very good.

supra_speed 03-09-2005 02:32 AM
This is my list of albums best to worst, imo:

Ride the Lightning
...And Justice for All
Master of Puppets
Black Album
Kill Em' All
Reload
Load
Garage Inc
St. Anger
Mine:

...And Justice for All
Master of Puppets
Ride the Lightning
Kill Em' All
Garage Inc

The rest I hate. So Unmetallica-ish. Or so un-thrashy metal

supra_speed 03-09-2005 02:33 AM
Yeah i like his too, but I don't think he is the best, but very good.
i agree. my fav is tom araya from slaya (slayer)

Just for fun who do you think has the best metal voice? (singing, not just growling as in death metal)

Po0osH 03-09-2005 02:37 AM

phil anselmo of pantera.

He has perfect clean vocals

He can hit high notes

He screams his ass off (Listen to the great southern trendkill)

ArcLite 03-09-2005 02:38 AM

For straight up singing, no one but Russell Allen of Symphony X for me.

ThrashMaster27 03-09-2005 02:38 AM

Rob Halford, without a doubt.

GREAT song :thumb:

SKoRioN 03-09-2005 09:43 AM

Off the top of my head I can't really think who I would say the best metal vocalist would be...I'll give it a thought.

Although I do think James has an awesome voice.

My choice aswell

hatchedinalab89 03-09-2005 11:01 AM

yea, you said lets get off lars, but one more thing about him.

@pepsi, the only other drummer that i can think of that's better is the rush drummer, surrounded 360 degrees in drums. If he isn't one of the best, then who is? maybe the best drummer isn't the one who can hit the snair the fastest, or make a drumrole out of a double bass pedal, (which lars is pretty good at by the way.), but maybe it's who can correspond with the music the best, and with For Whom The Bell Tolls, and the ending of all their live songs. With Lars just beating the **** out of his bass pedals, I'd have to say he's one of the best out there.

Btw, does anyone listen to System Of a Down? Theyre drummer sounds like he's playing live all the time for some reason, anyone noticed?

Chu 03-09-2005 11:03 AM

Mike Portnoy?

wrongnote85 03-09-2005 11:12 AM

the best drummers in my book are lars, gar samuleson from the first megadeth lineup, as well as nick menza. then neil perdt from rush and stuart copeland from the police. i know that's a far cry from metal, but the dude is ****ing killer! anyone agree?

Chu 03-09-2005 11:14 AM

I agree Nick Menza, Gar Samuelson and Neil Peart are good, there's probably no 'best' drummer though.

metal guitar III 03-09-2005 11:16 AM

I agree on Nick Menza

wrongnote85 03-09-2005 11:29 AM

i guess there are no police fans on the metallica thread

metal guitar III 03-09-2005 11:35 AM

Police fan?

wrongnote85 03-09-2005 11:43 AM

yeah man the police. stings band before sting? so lonely, every little thing she does is magic, material sun? im avoiding saying every breath you take for a reason, but yeah the ****ing police are awesome! very musical and just really cool in my book. check em out.

They're fun to listen to, lots of very catchy tunes..Sting's voice is fun to imitate too. :D

JACKROXYOU 03-09-2005 02:06 PM

sting?

Leper 03-09-2005 02:17 PM
sting?
You've never heard of sting?

\m/Pete\m/ 03-09-2005 02:38 PM

why is sting being talked about?

i'll go back

Leper 03-09-2005 02:52 PM

It's not really important, just a little side-discussion.
