I love how much different Cape Cod is from the rest of New England...I mean, it's only about two or three hours from Boston, but it's as if the two places are polar opposites.
New Jersey works the same way, the state itself isn't very large, but there are 3 distinct regions, north jersey, south jersey, and the jersey shore, and they are so drastically different it is insane. Even the different areas use different words for things, it really is like two separate countries.

Example: North jersey, and the jersey shore; a long sandwich is called a Sub
South Jersey: it is called a Hoagie.

another example: North jersey: ketchup and mayo on french fries
South Jersey: just ketchup
Jersey Shore: we prefer vinegar.

ATM 06-25-2005 11:15 AM
I was there when I was a child, but I don't remember the name of the exact location. I remember the aged white houses, the rocks, and the semi-cloudy, beach sky. And the white sand and the generally very peaceful atmosphere. It's one of those places where if you were ill you would go there to convalesce.
Definantly. I enjoy going up there, because it gives me a chance to get away from society in a way.

Getting off the internet for a week or so is very refreshing.

That wasn't exactly my point :-\

I meant that in Boston it's crowded, congested, hot, loud, and stuffy, and everyone is an asshole. In Cape Cod it's so quiet and laid-back, and everyone is actually nice to one another.

NJMetalMeister 06-25-2005 11:18 AM

well whatever, its saturday night and im a bit drunk at this point, you cant expect me to totally comprehend everything that is going on at this point. Gotta go now though guys, more booze and a movie await me

I seriously need more X-Japan. I'm listening to "The Art of Life" right now, and it's God.

I'm going to this tonight:

The Hirshhorn and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (LAMOCA), have co-organized the first exhibition in the United States to examine the many forms of visual music, an interdisciplinary, broad-based art movement that explored the relationship of abstraction, color, and music. Accompanied by a 272-page catalogue, the presentation brings together the work of forty artists and an array of media, including painting, photography, film, light projection, computer graphics, and immersive environments. The exhibition is curated by the Hirshhorn’s Kerry Brougher and Judith Zilzcer and LAMOCA’s Jeremy Strick and Ari Weisman. Visual Music is organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

"In addition to getting a late-night peek at the exhibit tonight, Joshua White and Gary Panter will be producing a psychedelic light show they're calling "Cosmic Drift." We're told that "Joshua White achieved acclaim in the 1960s for The Joshua Light Show, in which he created kaleidoscopic, mind-bending effects for the likes of Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, and the Allman Brothers Band." Groovy! The show will go on rain or shine, and alcohol is prohibited."

I can't wait!

Woah, that's not true at all. It used to be like that, maybe 10 years ago.

Sweet. Sounds like an event that one would want to get toasted up before going to.

You don't think those people are serious, right?

I'm not really that offended by it. It seems almost cliche to me.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 01:27 PM
Woah, that's not true at all. It used to be like that, maybe 10 years ago.
It was like that when I was there last summer.

I can't tell the difference anymore.

I can't take that seriously, I just can't.

YDload 06-25-2005 01:34 PM

Hey Ray/Illmatic, I thought you were an American. So why do you use the term "uni" instead of college like most of us?

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 01:34 PM

12Ounces - You live near the Jersey Shore? Are you completely loaded? I spent 2 weeks there one summer for an aunts marriage and everyone seems so insanely rich. My whole extended family lives in Jersey (mostly around Morristown) and my parents used to live there too but now we're in central New York.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 01:35 PM

Actually, now that I look through more of it, it seems more like a joke.
Hey Ray/Illmatic, I thought you were an American. So why do you use the term "uni" instead of college like most of us?
Too much time hearing/seeing Europeans say it on MX, I reckon.

I noticed that as well. People seem to say uni in this thread, even the Americans.

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 01:45 PM

Wow... I just looked at all the propoganda on that VNN website. It is truly terrible. I wonder how many of the models know what their pictures were used for.

ATM 06-25-2005 01:49 PM

Download this cover of Purple Haze and let me know what you think:

http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0I88VVWN6K3IW014CJHC51324Y

It's by Melanie Safka.

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 01:52 PM

Wow... it's pretty cool. The 12 string is a nice touch. I also really like what they did with the 'solo'. I diggit more than the original but I'm not really a fan of Hendrix so my opinion is void I suppose.

ATM 06-25-2005 02:01 PM

I just think as far as covers go, it is excellent.

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 02:03 PM

I feel like for a cover to be legit, it has to be as different as possible from the original, not as close as possible.

ATM 06-25-2005 02:04 PM

I feel the same way. I like all the different instruments they use in this cover.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 02:08 PM

I don't really like female vocals all that much, but I really like how that cover has that haunting folk-y sound to it.

ATM 06-25-2005 02:10 PM

I like that yell she lets out, as well.

Chris always has some dope. He's like James Van Der Beek in "The Rules of Attraction" minus the freakishly large head.

All my little brother's friends are pot heads and pretend faggots. They think it's some cool trend to be gay or bi so they all hang out, get high and then do dirty things I'd rather not discuss because my brother is involved. Only one of the kids is actually gay as far as I know.

Oh my god, that is disgusting.

How old is your kid brother, anyway?

I always wanted siblings, but only an older brother or a younger sister (all within 2-3 years of my age). I definitely wouldn't want a younger brother and would be indifferent at the idea of an older sister.

/has given this some thought
