Cansecos - Cansecos.

prurient 06-08-2006 12:11 PM

Don't listen to AFI.

cb240 06-08-2006 12:20 PM

God I hate that fruity lead singer for AFI... he wears more makeup than Christina Aguilera and his manners and facial expressions are the fruitiest things I have ever seen in my whole life, and that includes drag shows.

Kyle 06-08-2006 01:43 PM

By my experience, people who say 'fruity', are usually pretty fruity themselves.

Listening to the new Dresden Dolls album again for the first time since the short while after it was released. I'm really enjoying it, excellent stuff.

Montana 06-08-2006 02:49 PM

Rocky Votolato-Makers and Suicide Medicine.

Lexxy 06-08-2006 03:28 PM

there's this really cool new band from brooklyn called beirut. they're amazing!
very old worldly sounding!
check out Scenic World by Beirut : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/16735235

prurient 06-08-2006 03:34 PM

Beirut is good.

Little Man being Erased 06-08-2006 03:38 PM
This is bizarre but the new AFI single is pretty catchy. His voice is light years better than it used to be.
I didn't think much of it at first, but after a few more plays it started creeping into my subconscious. I like it. I wanna check the album out.

On my 15 minute trip to work this morning I listened to:

I Heart Hiroshima - A Three Letter Word for Candy

sr800bkBassist 06-08-2006 03:44 PM
Your Heart Breaks: Awesome low-fi folky pop, like Michael Jordan Touchdown Pass but with female vocals. There are some songs here.

Lots of catchy pop-punk: The Copyrights, Radon, Visqueen, The Modern Machines, The Marked Men etc

Jumbo Shrimp: Great post-DK surf instrumentals from East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride.
Your Heart Breaks are playing at my friend's house on the 18th!

Bukowski 06-08-2006 03:49 PM
Jumbo Shrimp: Great post-DK surf instrumentals from East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride.
I haven't even heard of this. I'll chcek it out.

I'm diggin the Silver Jews and Thelonious Monk earlier today. And now Throbbing Gristle.

Iron Bug 06-08-2006 03:57 PM
God I hate that fruity lead singer for AFI... he wears more makeup than Christina Aguilera and his manners and facial expressions are the fruitiest things I have ever seen in my whole life, and that includes drag shows.
I like how you've seen drag shows.

I'm liking Four Tet lately.

Daniel! 06-08-2006 03:57 PM

Ted Leo/the Pharmacists

Haven't listened to them in a long time. They still rock.

BillCosby 06-08-2006 04:05 PM
I like how you've seen drag shows.

you haven't?

what are you, gay

Jawaharal 06-08-2006 04:29 PM

Nomo makes me want to shake my rump

Robert Crumb 06-08-2006 04:42 PM
Beirut is good.
Gonna look into this, what I've read sounds interesting.

Listening to Ennio Morricone right now, Stereolab, Mr. Lif and Wasteland earlier.

Bartender 06-08-2006 04:49 PM

The Sunshine Fix - Age of the Sun

And liking it a lot more than the last time (which was also the first time, I think) that I listened to it. Might even like it as much as the OTC; most of the actual songs are really pretty good.

Iron Bug 06-08-2006 04:52 PM
you haven't?

Pretty much.

Kyle 06-08-2006 04:57 PM

Wow, I knew Dresden Dolls did a mean war pigs cover, but there are also clips of them covering 'I Love rock and Roll' and 'Hallelujah' on youtube. I'm loving these guys today, just ordered their DVD.

ATM 06-08-2006 05:03 PM

Yea, I just got there s/t and I really like it.

Kyle 06-08-2006 05:05 PM
Yea, I just got there s/t and I really like it.
Yeah, it's definately their best album. The new album is solid, and worth a listen, but lacks some of the wildness from the first.

ATM 06-08-2006 05:14 PM
Yeah, it's definately their best album. The new album is solid, and worth a listen, but lacks some of the wildness from the first.
yea I got Yes Virginia as well, and I definantly like the s/t better. Yes Virginia does have its moments tho.

YDload 06-08-2006 05:14 PM

The Dresden Dolls are just The White Stripes with the roles reversed. And since the latter band recently added some keys and a more macabre spirit to their last album, the lines are blurred even further.

prurient 06-08-2006 05:19 PM

YDload, you racist pig, get out of my forum.

Little Man being Erased 06-08-2006 05:36 PM
The Dresden Dolls never did it for me. I think it's because of the singer, she's kind of obnoxious.
I feel the same way.

BringHomeTheBacon 06-08-2006 06:14 PM

Jimmy Eat World- Clarity
This has been one of my favorite albums for a while, but now I've started to love songs I didn't care for before- like "Table For Glasses" "Ten" and "12.23.95".

Little Man being Erased 06-08-2006 07:45 PM

Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight
Cursive - The Ugly Organ

How could I not? Two of my favourite albums ever.

Luxor 06-08-2006 08:00 PM

I just listened to Suicide Invoice

Glitterati 06-08-2006 08:13 PM

The Verve - Urban Hymns

Good stuff. Kinda makes me wish they were still around, or that I was old enough to see them when they were big.

Might put on Jeff Buckley's Grace later tonight.

Little Man being Erased 06-08-2006 08:28 PM
I just listened to Suicide Invoice
I need that.

pixiesfanyo 06-08-2006 08:39 PM

If there is a signed petition, can a member of the forums be banned?

I'm diggin' August Born's LP.

Which I just got on vinyl today, after about an 8 month wait.

pep 06-08-2006 08:44 PM

X Japan - Art of Life... awesome song, even though its a live version and its 34 min. long.

YDload 06-08-2006 10:11 PM
If there is a signed petition, can a member of the forums be banned?

who ya got in mind?
Me.

Jawaharal 06-08-2006 10:27 PM

Velvet Underground and Nico

I'm trying very hard to give this a second chance and like it. I don't think I'll ever like it =(

Happymeal 06-08-2006 10:36 PM

I almost feel the same way for that album.

Jawaharal 06-08-2006 10:38 PM

I mean some of its cool. Sunday Morning and Herion are awesome and I'm Waiting For My Man would be alot better if it didn't drag on for an hour. And Nico's voice sucks.

Ornery Cephalopod 06-09-2006 12:54 AM

Cerberus Shoal - Homb

This is the first thing I've heard by them... and boy howdy, those Kayo Dot/maudlin of the Well chaps are definitely influenced by this stuff.

Digggg.

Kyle 06-09-2006 03:40 AM
The Dresden Dolls are just The White Stripes with the roles reversed. And since the latter band recently added some keys and a more macabre spirit to their last album, the lines are blurred even further.
The one key difference is that neither member of the Dresden Dolls is the equivalent of the Meg White. The Dresden Dolls aren't held back by a poor drummer, both musicians are vary capable.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 06-09-2006 05:40 AM

Freescha - Slower Than Church Music
This is very good, very Boards of Canada-esque.

& other various albums including some Throbbing Gristle, Thom Yorke, Xiu Xiu, Danielson, blah blah

Bartender 06-09-2006 06:46 AM

Botch - An Anthology of Dead Ends

Liking this a lot more this time around, too. Maybe I should just stop buying new things for a while.
