Aakon_Keetreh 05-22-2008 12:57 PM

yep none atmosphere at all

masscows 05-22-2008 01:14 PM

The music itself is 'epic' enough for some atmosphere but like I said before, it'd be better with dirtier production.

what? yeah, something definitely can't have any sort of 'atmosphere' if it's not epic...

Tyler 05-22-2008 01:27 PM

atmosphere is the most meaningless word in black metal

dinosaurxbrocore 05-22-2008 01:28 PM

misery signals has mad atmosphere

Silenius 05-22-2008 01:29 PM

Yeah, barely audible basement recording quality = atmosphere.

RetiredAt21 05-22-2008 01:30 PM

I prefer raw production but not to the point where you can't even hear ****, that's retarded.

Angmar 05-22-2008 04:40 PM
atmosphere is the most meaningless word in black metal
Would you prefer we use the word feeling? :)

Nostalgia 05-22-2008 05:15 PM

I agree with Tyler. That word is so broad and generic, which is the reason it's tossed around so much. It's very cliche and blankety in the aspect that it can be used to describe anything in black metal, and there are far better adjectives that can be used to describe the content of the music.

what the **** are you talking about?
I agree with Tyler. That word is so broad and generic, which is the reason it's tossed around so much. Angmar 05-22-2008 05:17 PM

Ok guys I won't say atmospheric anymore.

Nostalgia 05-22-2008 05:19 PM

He's being sarcastic, obviously.

Steve: Well you just said it again, liarpants.

masscows 05-22-2008 05:21 PM

He misread my post to say it isn't epic enough for atmosphere then, otherwise his post makes no sense.

Angmar 05-22-2008 05:24 PM

Seriously though, the main point in my opinion of black metal is to create some kind of atmosphere, to say calling something in black metal atmospheric is stupid, would be like saying calling something in thrash heavy is dumb.

Nostalgia 05-22-2008 05:26 PM
That doesn't mean it's meaningless, it's just an easily understood term that's used for things that would be pointless to describe in depth unless you want it to sound like some anus.com review.
Yeah, which renders it a blanket statement with no depth that lackadaisically describes any sound, depending on your definition of "atmosphere."

Angmar 05-22-2008 05:29 PM

Eh you have a point, but there's plenty of black metal out there with no atmosphere.

Stormrider 05-22-2008 05:56 PM
He misread my post to say it isn't epic enough for atmosphere then, otherwise his post makes no sense.
you didn't get my post if you're saying that. I never said anything about it being not being epic enough for 'atmosphere'.

You're basically saying it was epic enough to have some 'atmosphere', while I was saying you don't have to be epic to have 'atmosphere'.

I don't see how my post could have caused confusion.

masscows 05-22-2008 05:59 PM

When the **** did I say something has to be epic for atmosphere?

Don't respond to this post please.

Ghoul Hustler 05-22-2008 06:44 PM

Atmosphere is a very important word when describing music.

Nostalgia 05-22-2008 06:51 PM

Yeah ok, child molester.

Angmar 05-22-2008 06:52 PM

stfu tanning pedicure lover

Nostalgia 05-22-2008 06:53 PM

Dude yeah, I hit up that **** last night with the girlfriend. I almost fell asleep, too. So relaxed and ****.

rattlehead42147 05-22-2008 10:01 PM

have any of you guys heard of Malvery? i'm not even sure what to think of this band they're not half bad except their singer goes into Nattramn territory on occasion.

Angmar 05-22-2008 10:04 PM

I have not heard of Malvery but they look like one of those depressive BM bands so odds are I probably wouldn't be a huge fan.

Go on AIM if you can Ky.

yeah, their music isn't quite living up to their logo :(
although i gotta give the band a little credit, at least their singer had the decency to actually commit suicide instead of pulling a Stallagh.

Angmar 05-22-2008 10:16 PM
