Basically we have compulsory school until 16 then we have what we call college which is usually 2 years where you get your a-levels and stuff.

Then we go on to university and your equivalent of college.

yeah we are similar in that we have High School which is basically called College now (13-18) and then its onto University for further studies (generally 18+) or TAFE (for trades usually)
