Living without the net in my new place is so calming but makes some things a lot more inconvenient than they need to be.

Convectuoso 05-23-2010 11:13 PM

I know how you feel. Went for a spout without internet at the place before the one I'm in now and it was cool not needing it but getting new internet set up and finding a new place to live and finding bus schedules was a bitch.

funkyhoney 05-23-2010 11:21 PM

I'm in the process of setting up new internet. I dislike the fact I have to pay Telstra to turn on my phone line even though the ISP is only going to come in and disconnect my phone service for naked DSL.

FunkMetalBass 05-24-2010 05:10 PM

So, I want to put some lightweight tuners on my 8-string. I found these that weigh in at a feathery 40g each.

I don't know if I can warrant the price, though. Not at $289 + s/h.

fatbandit 05-24-2010 06:08 PM

hipshot ultralites?

fatbandit 05-24-2010 06:09 PM

actually, why would you make an 8 string without ultralites?

FunkMetalBass 05-24-2010 06:43 PM
actually, why would you make an 8 string without ultralites?
The ultralites don't come in a shiny gold, only a satin. The bass actually balances very well without it. But, if I can shave off a half-pound in just tuner weight, I figure I should. I'm going to switch out the concentric knobs for smaller ones too.

I will be putting ultralites on my Spector and Schecter, though. It's just going to cost me another $300 to do it.

i have the drum beat, i'll probably be hangin in the studio in a week or so when ill record the bass. you want the drumms??? just your basic kinda funk/rock compressed drums...

Epidemechanical 05-26-2010 12:50 PM

primus is cool

FunkMetalBass 05-26-2010 01:23 PM
primus is cool
I agree. And when they tour with Gogol Bordello, it's even cooler.

FunkMetalBass 05-26-2010 01:28 PM

Is it bad that I want to go to an Avenged Sevenfold concert just to see Mike Portnoy filling in on drums?

Epidemechanical 05-26-2010 01:39 PM

lol thats right that guy died too

hahahaha

Yep.

I love that fill he did in "Almost Easy." It's just like a psychotic breakdown on drums. Makes me cream myself.

fatbandit 05-26-2010 04:49 PM

I just bought a Subdecay Noisebox. Oh god yes ^_^

I'm not sure if Gogol Bordello is playing the Toronto date, but I've already got my ticket. It's not until the end of July, but I am damn pumped.

i can't tell if that's sarcastic or not XD

either way, i don't see it as your kind of pedal D: you always seem like a no-frills kind of guy with effects. should turn up today, but I'm gigging so I won't get to try it for a little while yet.

No, I'm serious.

Let me know when you've had some time to play around with it.

I've also been looking at Moogerfooger ring modulator and murf pedals, soooo....

Spaceman Spiff 05-27-2010 09:45 AM

Deltron 3030 is the shit.

Del kills all the raps, Dan The Automator and Kid Koala kill the rest. Such badassery.

Going to see Fucked Up tonight. Should be sweet.

fatbandit 05-28-2010 01:35 PM

Apparently buying a pedal at like 10:30 PM on a Wednesday and paying for next day delivery means that I won't get my noisebox until Tuesday at the earliest now ¬_¬

Was it really necessary to drop that kind of coin on next-day delivery?

That being said, I have a 10U rolling rack that shall be coming in sometime in the next few weeks. My Ampeg BA500 is now is the shop and should be all ready by the middle of June. I'm going to build a 2x12 cab to go along with it. w00t!

Anybody want to buy a 4U rack case (I've got a shallow SKB and a deep Gator), or bass parts? I've definitely got excess of each.

fatbandit 05-28-2010 02:12 PM

It was like £5 more for next day so I went for it thinking I could have a play over the weekend. Which isn't a lot on a £100+ pedal IMO. It's no major problem, I'll just tell them it didn't turn up and they'll probably refund the postage. Just annoying.

You'll miss your 4Us as soon as you reach a venue with stairs!

I hate the 4Us. I really do. They're heavy to carry without wheels, don't stack nicely on top of my stack, etc etc.

Live sound is pretty "meh" to me anyway, and I've never encountered a situation where I'll be required to lift the thing onto a stage by myself. Also, I'm thinking about keeping the 10U at home and just using my Ampeg head and 2x12 for smaller shows where the 10U would be an issue.

fatbandit 05-28-2010 03:04 PM

See how you get along with it once you've got it all I guess! Only one way to find out if it's good for shows or not :)

I agree!

I'm currently working with a blues/rock guy right now, so I suspect the warmer Ampeg will better achieve the sounds he needs.

Then I can leave my full-stack set up in my bedroom with my pedals and have headphone-less jams and really work on setting up my pedals.

I thoroughly did not enjoy Fucked Up. Assholes in the crowd, being incited by the band. It got bloody and turned into a bro fest.
