The development in human morality in a positive manner is not at all in my opinion related to God. How can it be that religious fevor has decreased from the middle ages yet morality has improved but that the improvement in morality is down to religion. If that weas so then the dark ages would of been the kindest and more moral in history which of course the opposite was true.

Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Holland are the most accpeting and liberal countries in the world yet only 30% of British people even believe in a God and less than 5% of people attend church. The reason were are more moral and we live with better living conditions than ever before in because of an improvement in technology has made life less harsh so people have less concerns, so dont need scapegoats and are generally more educated. If you look at the worst countries in the world for human rights, e.g. Iran, Saudi Arabia, China etc.. these countries except for the stalinist ones destroy human rights due to religious justification. Yes in a Christian country we dont do this as bad anymore but that is only after there has been a decline in religious persuation, 500 years ago when we were as firmly under the grip as they are now we used to treat women like s'hit and slaughter heretics and non believers.

It might give people a lot of comfort. But id sure as hell be prepared to upset people in exchange for mos tof the world from ignorance so they can embrace a liberal and accepting way of thinking.

People got over the non existence of Thor, Wotan, Zeus, Zoroathrianism and every other religion that has ever existed, they can get over the none existence of Yahweh too. Modern religions' probably wont last the next 1000 or so years and im sure theyll be replaced by Scientology or some other rubbish.

People can be lied to all they want, thats basically what govenrment does but when it has a negative effect is should be stopped, as is the same with government.

You don't understand that with the advances we have today, any sort of happening could completely upset the equillibrium of everything we have. If we proved Christianity was wrong in today's age, there's a good chance America would fall..As soon as the U.S.A is done, the rest of the world is, as sad as it sounds.

What, thats not in the least bit true. People would find it liberating, its not like everyone would accept my proof straight away anyway, it would gradually be phased in like evolution has been.

My mother recently accepted that God was not real and that Christianity was a lie but she doesnt seem to have the urge to kill herself. People would adapt, the majority of people are way too self centred to kill themselves anyway, within 50 years everyone would be over it.

Did Ex-Nazi's kill themselves when (if they ever actually did) realise that Jews were actually a human species and that the Aryan's were not the ultimate race, no they pretty quickly got over it for the most part and moved on. Yet Nazism was followed as staunchly as any religion.

Alright.

Relegions great until people start taking it too seriously, ie: Crazy *** Muslims who kill themselves for thier 'beliefs'. But until then it's great.
Any Religion really just teaches good living. Don't kill, Don't lie etc. etc. Which is great, but as soon as people start devoting themselves entirely to a church I think it's going to far, but that's just my opinion.

Most religion tells you things you should probably try to follow anyways, just it gives you comfort that theres something bigger than all of us looking down on you.

I dont really believe religion has deeply affected the morals of people. You dont need to be raised under a religion to follow the same set of ideas and moral code. Wars have been started with and without religion involved, and many selfless deeds have been done with and without religion.

If a person gives some homeless person a dollar, although he might be christian, it doesnt mean he had to say 'I SHALL DO RIGHT BY MY GOD AND BESTOW TO THEE A DOLLAR!', maybe he just happened to be the naturally altruistic type. Nice religious people arent necessarily nice just because of their religious beliefs.

I'm a christian, but I'm going to have to admit, most religious people, when it all comes down to it, are jerks anyways because they don't know what they're doing and they're too strict too fast and it only pushes people away...if somehow, by some means someone were to disprove christianity, I can safely say, I wouldn't abandon it...I just like being a christian, it's comforting and it just helps me be happier, I'm not quite sure how, but that's just the way it goes, I love the idea of God and everlasting life...call me a moron, that's just the way things go

I am atheist and dont care for religion, if people care for it, fine, just i dont, and no one i do does. And not many people in the uk do care for it really any more.

I'm borderline atheist, but I guess I'm an agnostic simply cuz I'm open to ideas. I tend to think that most of the holy books for most religions tend to be simply a collection of nice stories that teach better morals to people, but to be honest I don't really give a damn what people think/believe as long as they ain't killing each other over it. Which... is kinda what's been happening since... well... forever.
