i can go from lets say johnny cash to slayer yea but if they were both in a band together they would suck
Ok, but we dont have people from completely different genres trying to play together in one song while only playing their stuff.

Imagine each of the different parts of Opeth songs as different songs if that helps.

Spoonful of Shame 07-26-2006 04:43 PM

So their an actually unique band and you say they suck? wow

Just because you don't like the growls doesn't mean the bands sucks.

Hes new

Awful grammar

Says Sabbath is his favourite band

And I would say hes my age (14/15, if 1991 is his birthdate as I think it is because of his username)

Can't expect much more from these people

Go listen to Black Sabbath oh master of what is good.

Super Wotan 07-26-2006 04:49 PM

What's wrong with Sabbath guys? They are excellent.

sabbath1991 07-26-2006 04:50 PM

Wow, I put Sabbath because I like them and yea im 15, also i didn't realize grammer was required. I listen to alot more then Sabbath even though they are miles ahead of opeth anyways

Darkness 07-26-2006 04:50 PM
Great, the Pit got deleted and now gimmick posters are seeping into R&M? This is a bad omen.

I heard a Nevermore song or two and didn't like it either. I know that I don't like metal in general so I didn't bother giving them that much of a chance.
Can I give you one song suggestion that may change your mind? Dreaming Neon Black
Wow, I put Sabbath because I like them and yea im 15, also i didn't realize grammer was required. I listen to alot more then Sabbath even though they are miles ahead of opeth anyways
Yeah, because the bands are very, very similar and should be compared. I said leave moron.
What's wrong with Sabbath guys? They are excellent.
They are good.

They're just usually considered some huge thing to kids like this and base whats good around them

Ahahahahaha. This is the best post i've seen in so long. You've earned my respect now.

i am the robots 07-26-2006 04:54 PM

Or like comparing me to hardcore Patty (local band references lolz).

Yeah, because the bands are very, very similar and should be compared. I said leave moron.
Dreaming Neon Black is NOT a good introduction goddammit!

Jenna Jameson and Teri Schaivo...I got one similarity. Neither can act. :p

Darkness 07-26-2006 04:56 PM

Yeah but he has an image of just an everyday metal band, and Dreaming Neon Black is not your everyday metal song.

sabbath1991 07-26-2006 04:58 PM

What so your not a kid? I listen to other stuff by the way. Do you listen to anything besides metal just out of curosity because I saw you post on the floyd thread. And at least I dont have 5,000 posts on a site like this and try to degrade kids my own age when I only know their opinions on one band.
Based on pure influence alone Sabbath is better.

Dreaming neon black is an amazing song.

Shadows 07-26-2006 05:01 PM

Jesus Christ, if you hate Opeth, why are you wasting everyone's time arguing here?

Shut up already. Opeth's music is far more intelligent and technical. The lyrics are far more poetic and meaningful, and as I said before Akerfeldt can actually sing.

This thread is for Opeth discussion, not bashing.

Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha

I mean I like Sabbath and all but

Hahahahahahahahahahhahaha

Sabbathkid: Listen you may not like Opeth but 1) they rule and 2) there's no reason to go in this thread and spam it up. I figured you were a gimmick poster at first and maybe you are but if you're not either give their songs a chance or don't bother posting.
Yeah but he has an image of just an everyday metal band, and Dreaming Neon Black is not your everyday metal song.
I don't really picture them as an "everyday" metal band, it's just that I didn't really get grabbed by anything when I listened to them, and I know that I dislike most metal, so I didn't really bother listening much. I'll check the song out though.

If you're trying to get into Opeth then you can post. But if you're just going to post that Black Sabbath is better than Opeth () then yeah, don't.

victim of changes 07-26-2006 05:18 PM

like i said earlier sabbath=jenna jameson, opeth=terry schaivo thats a must in terms of sabbaths influence to everyone else, i cant really comment on opeth though due to the fact i have havnt heard much of their stuff, i remember liking some of the acoustic stuff though.

i am the robots 07-26-2006 05:22 PM

Here we go again .

Influence isn't the same thing as talent or creativity at all. Just because a band is influential doesn't automatically make them good.

Based on musical knowledge Opeth is better

I can't let this go. Computer Jesus your avatar kicks ass. Chrono Trigger is such a rocking game.

TojesDolan 07-26-2006 06:13 PM

I shall remind you guys we're not here to doubt people's tastes and shit, we're here the Opeth and stuff.

Quated for absolute truth! It's too bad Chrono Cross wasn't near as good.
Quated for absolute truth! It's too bad Chrono Cross wasn't near as good.
Cross was good. I got an ISO for it and played that. Trigger did pwn it, but at least now I know what happened to Schala.

Whenever I start talking about the Chrono series, this little thought jumps out from the back of my head and I have an undying want for Chrono Brake to start being made already

TojesDolan 07-26-2006 06:49 PM

It's all about the smaller processors guys.

16-bits is the way to go. Degrading, not upgrading.

I should get a Super Nintendo. :-º

Thats what i played Trigger on.

Bill Ward > Martin Axenrot
Tonni Iommi > Peter Lindgren
Geezer Butler > Martin Mendez
Ozzy> Mikael Akerfeldt

Sabbath>Opeth

I dont mean to bash them but sabbath is just better

Super Wotan 07-26-2006 07:24 PM

Technical wise?

Shadows 07-26-2006 07:25 PM
Bill Ward > Martin Axenrot

Crap, I don't even know where to begin.

All I can say is...
Iommi may be a technically better player than Lindgren, but the other three are very far from true.

Anglachel 07-26-2006 07:26 PM

From the Chrono Trigger references, Ozzie, Slash and Flea (Magus' henchmen) we're all named after Ozzy Osbourne, Slash (GnR), and Flea (RHCP)

(I remembered this when I saw "Ozzy>Akerfeldt", which is a lie )
