I had no idea the new Murder By Death was out. For those of you who have heard it, whats it like?
|
Galaxie 500 - On Firew
The Beatles - Revolver The Bronx - s/t
I had no idea the new Murder By Death was out. For those of you who have heard it, whats it like?
I was pretty bored with it after just one listen. |
I had no idea the new Murder By Death was out. For those of you who have heard it, whats it like?
I havn't heard it, but I've heard two tracks and found them really boring. It's a shame, after hearing the first album I was really impressed with these guys, but they appear to be getting worse and worse.

Snap son, 279 Sonic Youth. Damn.
|
Snap son, 279 Sonic Youth. Damn.
Been listening to them constantly Zebra :) |
Air - 10,000 Hz Legend
Its not as bad as I originally made it out to be, it just doesn't compete with Moon Safari or Talkie Walkie.
When it's good, it's great. When it's not so good, it's horrible. Their other stuff is just so much more consistent. |
Forever Breathes the Golden Sunsets or something is good. I'm pretty sure that's not the exact title though.
edit: it's Forever Breathes the Lonely Word. That other thing is an Appleseed Cast song apparently.
thank you  it's pretty cool so far, doesn't seem that special but maybe it will grow on me more |
Exile in Guyville by Liz Phair is remarkable.
I've told you that before. |
Today:
Rocky Votolato - Makers - This is so much better on headphones. Keane - Hopes & Fears - Haven't heard this in ages but it's still alright, even if the orchestration is a bit minimalist. Brian Eno - Music For Airports - Perfect album for headphones. Now listening to MxPx - Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo, haven't busted this out in a while, I still love it. |
Red House Painters - Ocean Beach
I know I say this shit all the time but Mark Kozelek is the best American songwriter of the past 15 years. I completely mean it this time too. "Drop", jesus christ.
Yo, DMD, what's the best RHP to get after Red House Painters I? I've got Sun Kil Moon's Ghosts Of The Great Highway which is awesome but I'm lost as to which RHP to get next as I've seen quite a few been plugged. (mainly by you) |
I heard Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and then Pavement on the radio when I was in an op shop and I was like ahh.
The op shop sucked though.
That's what I heard too. We were listening to the same station at the same time! The Streets - The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living I've decided that I'm not disappointed with this album at all. |
Go for Ocean Beach, and then Down Colorful Hill.
I'll get on those. Thanks.:) |

diggin this song |
Six Organs of Admittance - The Sun Awakens (thanks to Mr. Jackalope)
It's pretty good. The production is a little strange, and the addition of drums is neat. I like the acoustic buzzing. Chansy is a genius. |
Venetian Snares - Doll, Doll, Doll
It's nice |
My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything
Frank Sinatra - The Reprise Collection X - Los Angeles This should hold me for most of the evening. |
Dødheimsgaard - 666 International
Saul Williams - Saul Williams (sooooo good) |
Dug a whole lotta stuff today. Right now, it's Matmos' The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of A Beast. Pretty wild ****, not sure how I feel about it yet.

Da Backwudz - Wood Work
This is the best ATL record since Aquemini. |
A Silver Mt Zion. Efrim's voice is really annoying when he sings loud but otherwise I really dig these guys now.
|
The Cars - Complete Greatest Hits
Mr. Bungle - California Hulk Hogan And The Wrestling Boot Band - Hulk Rules (Oh my god.) |
Fugazi - In On The Killer Take
Comets of Fire - Blue Cathedral |
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Truth. Today: Matisyahu - Live At Stubbs - I've had 'Chop Em Down' in my head all day. Cocteau Twins - Treasure Got my two Reindeer Section albums through the post today (about time as well) so I'll be digging those tomorrow most likely. |
Peter Tosh - Legalize It
This is superior to any material that Bob Marley has ever put out, this is becoming one of my favorite reggae albums of all time. |
The Copyrights: Good pop-punk.
|
Say Anything: Better pop-punk.
|
Circle Jerks
|
Saves The Day: Best pop-punk
:) |
Saves The Day: Best pop-punk
:)
blecch Against Me! - Acoustic EP Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose Bear vs. Shark - Terrorhawk |
Lately I've been really into some songs that are really slow and soul-crushing, and heavy without being metal. Here are some examples:
Dino Jr- Thumb Pavement- Grounded Built To Spill- Carry The Zero (or maybe Randy Described Eternity) So if you know any more songs in that vein, feel free to recommend them to me! As always, I still have much to learn about Alt/Indie music. |
Ok, So I bought the new Murder By Death. I like it. Its certainly different from their other stuff. They keep getting a more western sound with each album. Brother and Organ Grinder are great songs.
|
Matisyahu - Live At Stubbs - I've had 'Chop Em Down' in my head all day.
Man, that song is so great, was amazing when he played it live. That and Exaltation are probably my two favorite songs of his.

I'd give my left nut to see him live. That beatbox song on LAS is incredible. I've heard he puts on quite a show. |
