Ah yeah, the Nosturi concert is a fun watch :)

And In The Shadows fucking rules - I don't see why people have a problem with it.
Yeah. Both are great.

As I've said, Alexi could sing about baboons and he'd still badarse.

Don't give him any ideas...at least the lyrics are still intelligible (up until some of Hate Crew Deathroll and Are You Dead Yet). I rather liked Something Wild and Hatebreeder lyrics.

Maybe he could do a concept album about The Baboon, Chimp and Dragon Alliance.

I've never had a problem with Alexi's lyrics. I always have liked the Bodom lyrics relating to the whole murder thing.

\works of history

I liked the lyrics on Needled 24/7 and a couple other new ones.

Sleepy 03-30-2006 07:57 PM

Well, the history of Lake Bodom is quite interesting - the lyrics even moreso.

Yup.

\has spent hours reading about it.

Meh. 3 peoples lives to bring us a great band like CoB is a small price to pay. Compare to Black Metal, those guys are nutcases.

You read about Mayhem and all those guys?

Sleepy 03-30-2006 08:01 PM

About the suicide, brain stew, murder and attempted prison escape?

Yep, I'm on the ball.

AA-12 03-30-2006 08:03 PM

Varg Vikernes > All.

That guy is crazy yet oh so awesome.

Dead and his raven he'd smell to "inhale the smell of death". How he'd bury his clothes and dig them up... oh yeah the suicide. Which became an album cover. The guitarist who took the pix and was into all that sick & twisted pr0n. Who "supossedly" cooked his brain and ate it......and made the necklace. Then to be killed by Varg.

Meh. Why couldn't they have all burned down in one of their arson blazes? yes they made great music, but were also some of the biggest nutcases I've ever read/heard about.

Amen - they were out of their minds. However, some of it could've been publicity stunts.

Who's the author? I'll look it up right now.

Shattered_Future 03-30-2006 08:25 PM

I know one is Didrik Soderlind (or some spelling like that), no idea who the other is. Both are Norwegian, I believe...

Aye...Norweigian names...that'll be a hell of a treat for searching >.<

Shattered_Future 03-30-2006 08:28 PM

That it will. :p

It's published by Feral House...that may help some in your search.

Sleepy 03-30-2006 08:30 PM

The Rise of Satanic Metal? My mom will have a field day when I ask her if I could buy that...Jeebus. Maybe I can get my hands on a used copy from a bookstore.

Shattered_Future 03-30-2006 08:31 PM

Hahahahaha...

I wrote it off as a research tool. That's how I managed to get it. :p

It's an absurdly interesting book though...

Apocalypticon 03-30-2006 08:32 PM

Didrik Soderland is one of the authors and the other one is Micheal Moynihan. And if you guess wanna learn more about the whole Norwegian Black Metal scene involving Varg and others check out the documentary Satan Rides the Media, it's in Norwegian but has subtitles and has many interviews including some with Varg Vikernes himself.

Won't work for a pair of middle-aged, Conservative Republican Episcopalians. Cons of being raised in a religious family

Same for me. Just switch Episcopalians with Roman Catholic.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-30-2006 08:37 PM

My family aren't religous at all.

Sounds even more restrictive >.<

It's kind of odd to sit and watch my whole family pray around the dinner table, though. They respect my Atheism, but I can't help feeling like the odd man out.

Yes and no. My parents dont care if I listen to metal, as long as its not satanic. For example, when listening to Nile, they ask: "is this a satanic band victor?" I respond by saying "they are singing about Jesus mom."

I dont listen to much satanic metal anyway, so its not a problem.

Wow, thanks very much for turning me on to this book, everyone. I never even knew it existed.. I'm definitely getting it and it's death metal counterpart.

Shattered_Future 03-30-2006 08:45 PM

Excellent, excellent book. Really interesting quotations in it.

I classify my family as "unpracticing Christians". We celebrate major holidays (Christmas, Easter) and that's about it.

Sleepy 03-30-2006 08:47 PM

Eh, my family just asks if the music I'm listening to preaches white supremacy. They assume it's all demonic.

Toaster 03-30-2006 08:49 PM

My family's very strict about it. I have to hide many of my albums, lest I find myself having to attend church. *shudder*
My family's very strict about it. I have to hide many of my albums, lest I find myself having to attend church. *shudder*
My strategy to counter this:

Step 1) Get caught, either purposefully or by accident.

Step 2) Bring an mp3 player to Church.

Step 3) Blast Nordic Black Metal and show your mom how cool it is.

Step 4) There is no Step 4. She'll probably never let you within a half mile of a Church again.

Actually, she'd just take away his mp3 player and metal music. That's what would happen.

My family is non religous. Only time I've ever been in a church was for a funeral. That's it.

I'm fairly anti christ though. (not satanic).

My personal opinion on religous people is the following,

They are mentally ill. It's just a friend they made it to feel better. If someone did that without calling it "god", they'd land themselves a "5150".
They are deceiving themselves and helping deceiving others by being part of it all.
Religion brings out the worst in people,
example, All this "In the name of Muhammud" stuff over in the middle east, the radicals who blow up abortion clinics. We all know that bombing and wrecking havoc upon people is the way to set the moral high ground.

It's also just a form of mind control and another way for insecure men to control women stupid enough to following this crap.

I could go on for ages. I'll stop here. :thumb:

You can always say your sick and don't want to throw up all over "the house of the lord". That should work.

If you really wanna get em going, quote anything I said from my opinion on religion as a whole up there.

blue3 03-31-2006 12:39 AM

That's your opinion, not mine. And I'm rarely sick so that's not believable. I never go there anymore anyway.

its the same case in my situation. i only have to go to church 2x a year.

i will call myself not satanic but anti-christian. last christmas i wished to get the "satanic bible" by anton lavey ... hm ... i think you can imagine what my parents said. we had a looooong discussion about what satanism is, am i satanist and what metal in general is... yeah, they even thought that metal is evil :smash: i had to explain them the whole way-of-life and philosophy of metal, though my dad listened to led zeppelin and black sabbath when he was young.

i listen to metal for years now and after such a long time, my parents realized that i listen to this kind of music and thats bad... or that thats the reason i am interested in satanism; but only cause i am interested in satanism doesn't mean that i AM satanistic. i only want to know more about it, than the general ppl outside the world.

they should accept me who i am! the best thing is that since they look at my angrily when i dress black (they don't want me to buy black clothes anymore), that i listen to agressive music and so on  they wanna change me: no metal, no black clothes, no anti-christians philosophy cause thats bad... muahaha... nietzsche, lavey... lol

i needed about 1-2months after i enlightened them what metal is... blabla. now they accept me the way i am, but still don't like it.... well they tolerate it, but don't accept it... yeah, thats the better way to describe it

the only good thing is that, i don't see my parents that often... i live in vienna, my parents don't. i visit them once a month... the next time i will see them on easter.

I'm Charming 03-31-2006 03:57 AM

God is dead. nietzsche.
nietzsche is dead. God.

That's how it goes right?

Yeah. I'm anti religon overall. Read my post a page or two back if you didn't see it.

I see people who believe in "god" as mentally ill. Just creating a false person in their mind.
