Argh, you've confused me. now I must go to sleep and awake in 1000 years to do battle with you!

Moses 03-02-2006 12:43 AM

Okay, but I get Chuck Norris.... (the joke is way too old)

penelope weird hands 03-02-2006 02:28 AM

^heh

But, seriously, thats a bummer about your ladyfriend's parents, and the fact that her birthday is the day of the concert.

I wanted to take my girl to Opeth, but the venue is 18+ and she only turns 18 later this year. :(

That sucks, the one I went to was all ages. I was worried it would be 18+ though, luckily it wasn't :D.

Stoo 03-02-2006 07:54 AM

the one I went to was like 14+. I still went alone though. :upset:
That sucks ....
It most certainly does.
I told her today.. she was not impressed.
Fvcking venues and their..... schemes.

Anyway...
NP: Opeth - Blackwater Park \m/

They must play this live.
Demon Of The Fall has nothing on this.
No. I don't care what you say. :p

I totally agree.

I just listened to BWP

Now I'm listening to Ghost of Perdition.

Shattered_Future 03-02-2006 09:50 AM

Blackwater Park would be so much better if they cut off the first 5 minutes or so of it.

BLASPHEMY..!

The end wouldn't be nearly as badass without those first five minutes building up to it...

Shattered_Future 03-02-2006 10:32 AM

When you have one riff repeated for a good four minutes, trust me, you can get rid of it. :thumb:

No. :smoke:

Jude 03-02-2006 11:27 AM

OK so the acoustic part is a little repetetive, but who cares? The song melts faces.

Stoo 03-02-2006 11:39 AM

That song is awesome, where's the discussion? :p

BurningSky 03-02-2006 11:43 AM

The whole point of the acoustic part in the middle is to lull the listener into a trance and then take them by complete surprise when the heavy part kicks in again...
Exaggeration++:thumb:
Well, maybe it's around 3 then...still freaking long.

However, the heavy part is one of the coolest things I've ever heard. Layered parts rule.

Stoo 03-02-2006 01:02 PM

So, Amazon emailed me sayin D & D will be delayed (again) for a further 4-6 weeks. Woo!

Discuss Opeth. In this here Opeth thread.

ATC 03-02-2006 03:13 PM

All ages shows suck. You're never sure if the women at it are legal. Every time a girl at one of those talks to me, I hear sirens in my head and visions of jail time. This is especially true at goth, punk and metal concerts where the make up obscures age a lot of the time.

You wouldn't be saying that if you were 15.

See, it all works out for me. It's legal no matter the age. :naughty:

It's quite fun to "accidentally" assrape people at concerts too, when you're all packed in like that. Just gotta position yourself behind a good looking girl.

Haha I've been there. She looked at me funny and I kept saying that people were bumping into me. Good times...

Shattered_Future 03-02-2006 03:43 PM

Indeed. Specially when the girls are a good 7 inches or so shorter than you. :naughty: :naughty:

Thor 03-02-2006 03:44 PM

Oh you dirty person, you.

I listened to Blackwater Park all the way through again today. It really never gets old at any point in time.

Shattered_Future 03-02-2006 03:46 PM

You can't stop it. :smash:

I think the weakest point of Blackwater Park is...uuuhhh...

I really don't know. Maybe Harvest, although that song still rocks.

Oh, at Opeth, we also got the first 5 seconds of The Funeral Portrait and some Kenny Rogers and Judas Priest.

Harvest? I love that song to death, and I don't think that it's a weak point in the least. I'm going to have to go with the majority of the Opeth fans and say that Dirge for November is the weakest, even though it is still a good song. It would be better if it wasn't as long as it is. It just drags on too much for my tastes.

Me too. Dirge and Funeral Portrait both kind of drag on, especially Dirge.

I love Funeral Portrait, it's nice and heavy throughout which is something that the album really needed after the soft middle part of the eight tracks. It was nice to return back to Opeth's brutal side after hearing the gentle pieces.

But still, The Leper Affinity owns every other metal song on the planet.

TojesDolan 03-02-2006 03:58 PM

Uh uh... Funeral Portrait > Dirge in boreness.

Both have one or two interesting riffs and what not, but to be quiet honest, Funeral seems much more boring than Dirge. At least Dirge has the gay acoustic start, which is a good thing, I suppose.
