CabbageStabbage 09-03-2006 01:03 PM

I thought I'd get flamed into hell if I posted this as a thread, so I'm posting this here.

I would like to listen to some genuine emo. I severely dislike the MTV "emo" bands. The closest bands to emo or hardcore that I don't hate are Alexisonfire, A Wilhelm Scream (the songs on Sputnikmusic's main site), Thrice. I heard a Converge song and it sounded grindcoreish, maybe it was a similarly-named band.

Anyone wanna help? I looked through lists and so on but they're so ridiculously long, i don't know which bands are really "essential"

EdBanger 09-03-2006 01:05 PM

Theres a song by I Would Set Myself On Fire For You called Song 11.
Its on there myspazz.
Its by far the greatest song i've heard in years.
Has anyone here got it ?
I need it.

cobert 09-03-2006 01:07 PM

Rites of Spring
Moss Icon
Saetia
Native Nod
You and I
I Would Set Myself On Fire For You
Envy

Those are just some bands Im into, I dont know if I would really call some of those essential, except for Saetia and Rites of Spring.

WELL LOOK WHO DECIDED TO POP IN.

Nah bro, Ive recently decided Believes In Patterns is some serious A-Grade stuff. Whats your problems with it?

CabbageStabbage 09-03-2006 01:23 PM

Freaky.. I'm listening to Saetia's myspace ATM, the bass on the first song sounds exactly like my bass sounded when I recorded it directly into my computer. Also, the singer's voice sounds amusing. "There is no happy here!!!". Not a bad band actually

well it made me realize that autustic men know how to shout

the mellower stuff is way better on it

I actually kind of sound like the guy from IWSMOFFY when i scream or yell or whatever.

I will agree that the more mellow sections are better.

Yeah, they pretty much did it for me.

Anyone like Portaits of Past?

Luxor 09-03-2006 04:50 PM

I started listening to Circle Takes The Square, Native Nod and Pg.99 first.

bottlerocket 09-03-2006 04:53 PM

^ Good list.

I'm listening to Sunn o))) right now. Look, guys, I'm turning into Chris!

I really do dig it, though.

pixiesfanyo 09-03-2006 05:40 PM

Why don't you guys listen to Earth?

It's like Sunn0))) only acutally good.

bottlerocket 09-03-2006 05:57 PM

^ Sunn o))) got their inspiration from Earth so that's why they're name is based on the word "sun."

I haven't heard earth yet.

-Gav

cbmartinez 09-03-2006 06:25 PM

Yeah, I have one or two Earth tracks. They're real good, I need a full album though. I believe the two tracks I have are from Earth2.

I think Earth is subwoofer-foot-massaging-tastic. My fav song is Raiford (the felon wind).

Also, I checked out Rites of Spring, I love the fact that their vocals aren't whiny. Also their music is decent.

I've listened to them. I don't like the drone metal stuff that much.

Arrakakaka 09-03-2006 06:32 PM

Gav, I meant I was taking a crap.

And I can't upload the album, YSI says I've exceeded the amount of downloads.

pixiesfanyo 09-03-2006 07:19 PM

Beating

I'll love you.

RetiredAt21 09-04-2006 10:37 AM

They suck.

cobert 09-04-2006 10:41 AM

rofl steve irwins dead

RetiredAt21 09-04-2006 10:43 AM

Yeah I heard about that. A sting-ray did him in.

cobert 09-04-2006 10:49 AM

I thought it probably wouldve at least been a crocodile that got him.

RetiredAt21 09-04-2006 10:51 AM

Yeah, you think he would've been killed by something dangerous. He went out like a p'ussy. If I ever get killed by an animal, I'll make goddamn sure it's a bear.

I'd make sure it was a kangaroo.

mikexmcdaniel 09-04-2006 11:16 AM

I think Taken might be the most amazing band on this planet.

cbmartinez 09-04-2006 11:21 AM

Taken is pretty damn amazing.

Justin, you're a bitch. You would cry like a bitch if a sting ray even came near you.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 09-04-2006 11:27 AM

String Rays barbs are poisonous. They usually sting people's feet. But this one stung Steve Irwin's heart which made a whole in it. Thats not p'ussy.

whiteminority 09-04-2006 11:27 AM
Yeah, you think he would've been killed by something dangerous. He went out like a p'ussy. If I ever get killed by an animal, I'll make goddamn sure it's a bear.
Justin some of those girls you chill with... let me say if one of them were to kill you then you would have been killed by a bear.

:naughty:

cbmartinez 09-04-2006 11:38 AM

I can see Justin's obiturary:

"James Spader lookalike dies of crack overdose"
