I've listened to alot of stuff the past two days or so, mostly pop punk & ska:

The Aquabats - The Fury Of The Aquabats! - Really fun album, I was really depressed this morning - I played this on the train and had to stop myself from skankin' on the train to work.

Alex Drosen (Zappa) - Sit & Melt - Nice ambient stuff from Mx's finest.

Elvis Costello & The Attractions - This Years Model - I didn't think too much of this when I first listened to it, but on second listen it's pretty good stuff, nothing special, just a bunch of solid songs.

Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview! - Great album, tons of good songs: All My Friends Are Metalheads, Last One Out Of Liberty City, Five State Drive (my favourite on the album).

The Arcade Fire - The Arcade Fire EP - Nothing special really, I didn't like too much of it. Has a couple of good songs but nothing to write home about.

Fall Out Boy - Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girl - Fun album, not as good as Take This To Your Grave (one of my favourite pop-punk albums) but still enjoyable nevertheless.

Midtown - Forget What You Know - Not as good as some of their other albums but still not too shabby.

The Violent Femmes - S/T - Listened to this for the first time yesterday, I'm digging it alot; I've had Blister In The Sun stuck in my head for two days straight now.

I like it a lot, too.

As for me, Smashing Pumpkins - Gish.

Really? Never knew that. I've got some of his songs on my PC, I need to get one of his albums soon.
Really? Cool

I posted a link to his cover of Live & Let Die in there somewhere, if you're interested.
Sweet review man. That EP sounds really good, I'm gonna have to track that down. Thanks. :thumb:

Word. That album is the shizzle.

Whenever the title track comes on, my computer magically turns up the volume a loud as it can go.

Likewise. Magical stuff.
Produced by Butch Walker.
Is there nothing he can't do?

I'm listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young today. It seems to me they as a group get overlooked by how big Neil Young is, but they put out some really amazing folk music, specifically Teach Your Children.

Zappa 01-13-2006 06:55 PM

You guys probably don't thank me enough for largely exposing A&I to Wrong by NoMeansNo.

I just listened to it this evening, and it's still ridiculously awesome.

Thank you. Very much.

Interstate 01-13-2006 07:06 PM

Listened to alot of music since I got home from work:

Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? - I was pleasantly surprised by my first listen of this album today. I expected it to be a pile of guitar wankery but there's some good songs on here and tons of brilliant solos.

Tom Waits - Bone Machine - My downloaded copy keeps cutting the ends off a few songs so I'm gonna have to get an original copy - and another Tom Waits album along with it. I just literally downloaded Rain Dogs so I'm going to give that a listen tomorrow.

Mr Bungle - California - I didn't really like this album when I first listened to it some months ago but I decided to give it a second chance and it's really good, very crazy, but good. Goodbye Sober Day is a perfect closer.

Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come - Never fails to disappoint no matter how many times I listen to it.

I thank you often enough, don't I? You have made an invaluable contribution to our greater understanding of awesome music :)
Dave Grohl exposed me to it first, but thanks nonetheless.

Dave Grohl is a big reason that Songs for the Deaf is my favorite QotSA album. And like, better songs and stuff.

Same. Songs For The Deaf > Every other QOTSA album.

Psh. You guys are full of ****.

Rated R is the class act.

Tomahawk 01-14-2006 01:13 AM

QOTSA's self titled does not get enough love.

Right now I'm digging This Mortal Coil. Their cover of "Song to the Siren" is life affirming, man. As if I didn't love Liz Fraser enough already.

Mission of Burma - Vs.

Kaada - Thank You For Giving Me Your Valuable Time

This album is one of the most mindblowing things ever. It totally baffles me that one man can make music like this.

br3ad_man 01-14-2006 07:14 AM

Does anyone in here like Mae? I think they're really great.

http://www.purevolume.com/mae

I can't really explain their music. I think it's tops though.

Kyle 01-14-2006 07:31 AM

I like Qotsa's self titled, but Rated R is my favorite. SFTD is good too, but has some filler.
Been digging Mastodon and err Hundred Reasons strangely enough. Listened to Dookie quite a bit this week too.

LostInHollywood 01-14-2006 07:34 AM

Recently I have been Digging:

The Killers
The Dandy Warhols
The Bravery

I do. More on their old stuff though.

Trying to get into Dead Boys, The Soft Boys and XTC.

Orange Soda 01-14-2006 10:09 AM

Pixies
Weezer
Bloc Party
Bedouin Soundclash

Pretty popular stuff, I've just been really digging them lately.

sketchyjoe 01-14-2006 10:14 AM

Lots of Dylan

I've realised that usually my posts in this thread are usually "What I've been digging lately apart from Dylan"

ATM 01-14-2006 10:42 AM

My favotite jazz group, Esbjorn Svensson Trio, are playing a show near me at the end of this month!!!

So, today I am going to listen to them all day. They are a group from Sweden, whose main influence is Radiohead.

Jawaharal 01-14-2006 12:06 PM

Bela Fleck And The Flecktones.
