What's the deal about that all users have to write newreply instead of showthread? I couldn't figure whether it is an error or just the admins being directly insane.

if names kept people from enjoying an artist then Englebert Humperdinck would have never got his time to shine :(

bleep_bloop 10-21-2007 03:41 PM

lil wayne's flow makes me want to shoot myself

I downloaded a Lil Wayne album once and didn't like it, can't remember what it was called though.

Jose Gonzalez is good though. Teardrop cover is some sweet good stuff.

im writing a 4,000 word scholarly article about the promotion and publicity done by small time local bands. i think i'm in way over my head but its still neat to find articles written about interesting things in the nevertheless dry academic language:
The mainstreaming of punk rock in the 1990s was disheartening to artists and fans
committed to punk’s radical political ethos. This paper examines the rhetorical response
to punk’s popularization in this era, focusing on how the DC-area band, the Make-Up,
reorganized the common sense of punk by articulating it to the musical and social
elements of gospel and funk. Analysis of the ‘‘repertoires for rhetorical living’’ that result
from this juxtaposition of musical discourses leads to the conclusion that the Make-Up
offers a transformed understanding of what may count as authentic in punk,
reorganizing authenticity, political commitments, and identity around a collectivist
subject position. The ethical implications of the Make-Up’s ironic appropriations of black culture also are considered.
i've never heard this band but thats a neat thing to write about v:)v

Just started my own catalogue distribution business a few days ago. It's hard going but hopefully i'll reap the rewards soon.
