Kind of ironic, isn't it? You're on the official thread of the band that pioneered the fight against downloading music, and you're talkin about downloadin their movie. Interesting.
Even though I like Reload, I agree that KEA through Black beats it, but while we're on the subject: Low Man's Lyric, love it, hate it, why? I love it. It's one of the only songs that 'tallica made with all clean guitars, and it's full of emotion that you don't usually see from James.
I've actually never heard it. what album???

:upset:

well the last album you mentioned in that paragraph of yours was black and i knew it wasn't on that...

\m/Pete\m/ 01-23-2005 11:31 PM

If we're gonna talk about all clean guitars then i'll take Mama Said.

Anyone see when James sang that on CMT Outlaws??

And i have seen SKOM and i'll be buying right away

Dylan S 01-23-2005 11:45 PM

I think the best clean guitar sounds they have gotten are off black, even though the songs aren't clean the whole way through.

I agree...Nothing Else Matters, even though the solo is distorted, ownz Low Man's Lyric and Mama Said (sounds too country for me) any day. Given it's all Metallica and it's all good, I think Nothing Else Matters is best.

Sidenote: I don't include Fade to Black on the list because it's mixed the whole way through. NEM is only distorted for the solo.

I think the problem with metallicas more recent albums including the black albums is that the guitar is so clean. James hetfields voice is best heard when theres an army of heavy, distorted guitars behind it. Especially nothing else matters where the guitars struggles to stand up against james' deep growl and lars' thumping drums, cept in the solo(BTW which is way too short, and doesnt have james singing)

well yea what are you comparing it to

wow page 3

Burdcheese 01-24-2005 04:06 PM

^^Page 468 by my count.

I think Hetfield's voice as it is now (or at least as it was in the Load era) is well suited to both distorted and clean.

When he was younger, it was definately only good for louder distorted guitar stuff

\m/Pete\m/ 01-24-2005 04:10 PM

Yeah his voice has definately matured a lot

Burdcheese 01-24-2005 04:12 PM

^^For the better I'd say

Secret to good metallica album

three word titles
Kill them all ( i know its kill'em all but its the same diff)
ride the lightning
master of puppets
s & m
all good

4 words is different
and justice for all

less than three the worse except for black album and load

I've always thought (to me anyways) James voice, on KeA, in way resembles Mustaines

ExitSandman 01-24-2005 04:56 PM

Yes, I also think James' voice has matured and is better now then it was in the beginning. I've seen them perform Nothing else matters in Sydney 04 and Rio 04, and it sounded very good. Better than on the original album imo.

James' voice in S&M i think was the best it ever was. I downloaded(legally) tracks of them playing in orlando and its really deteriated, especially on the older tracks, so i think hes definetely passed his peak.

munky_magik 01-25-2005 07:01 AM

People need to remember that live recordings are doctored to hell when released on DVD etc...

KILO5203 01-25-2005 10:30 AM

what do you guys think the easiest to play metallica solo is? (besides those intro solos)

btoto 01-25-2005 10:46 AM

Am I Evil is very easy and sounds good, so are last Fade To Black (easy, just spend some time) and the unforgiven.

benfan 01-25-2005 11:07 AM
