Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:24 PM

JoZ did get the ball rolling on this entire thing though. it was him posting his little bit of Disposition that started off the masses of bass tracks he uploaded. Then it all went from there.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:26 PM

Yes, he has probably put out more stuff than most of us, and it would be useable if it weren't for the Harmony Assistant drums. :p

Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:27 PM

They were useful as hell at first though. Im still using them for my random home jams. (just cant record them).

Im sure there were a few that were drumless

ThePatient 07-10-2005 03:28 PM

Ok, I'll do Lateralus. It should come along much faster since I already know the song. I just have to find time when I'm not busy and my house quiet.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:29 PM

Which ones were? All the ones I have (Ænema, Stinkfist, Part of Me) have MIDI drums. :-/

Also, how evil do you guys think it would be to do Parabola in drop D? :p

Use Lateralus 2 as a backing. There's enough problems* over timing already.

and random chimes etc in aenima :p

His stuff was/still is sueful. It would just be great to have a proper track without background noises...

It wouldnt be possible, unless you change the key of the song, which means you'll probably lose the mode, and it wont sound as angry.

You could try doing it an octave higher. I did that with Mastodon songs. Oh boy, was that bad.

There's guitar on Lateralus 2?.. If it's chris' guitar, it isn't done yet.. So if you record bass, could you do it on a track by itself so it can be mixed in without having to redo everything whenever there's a change?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:35 PM

Mastodon don't down tune. They do a wierd type of drop tuning. Instead of it being drop D, they drop the 6 string to A to make an octave powerchord. At least that's what I've seen on some tabs and such..

Lateralus 2?

Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:36 PM

All individual tracks should be uploaded seperate from the mixed track and put in this thread anyway.

Im not sure who's guitar it is on lateralus, but it sounds pretty done to me. Mixing needs sorting (see point 1), but its played from start to finish

Yeah I know. I play the D and A string, as apposed to the thick E. But the sound is too, not-heavy-really. (substitute word in).

They drop a step and like you said, put the E to an A. Works well

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:41 PM

Chris' track isn't quite finished. He wants to redo the pinch harmonics at the end, and the last few chords aren't in the correct place. Oh, 3074326 did the geetarizing, Ben.

clearvision 07-10-2005 03:42 PM

I'm listening to the remix's of only on a NIN site...they actually own... chekc out the second one down, somethign about spooky.

Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:43 PM

Cool, im kinda glad its not done, the drums are a bit too dominant in some places. Did Chris mix it himself?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:47 PM

He didn't really mix it, he just kind of...put them together? He didn't do anything to the tracks, if that's what you're asking.

Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:49 PM

Ah, gotcha.

(the lazy option then)

And as for NIN, im let down by Fincher's video for Only. True, its cool and shows off his full amazingness of post production. But its just not really, interesting

centrum 07-10-2005 03:50 PM

Does anyone have or know where I can find a backing track for schism?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-10-2005 03:52 PM

Hey speaking of remixes and such, does anyone have the lounge versions for either Hooker or Third Eye? I wouldn't think so, but hey it's worth a try..

Fraid not, its one of the few that we dont have anything for. You could try searching out a powertab file and muting the guitar. or jsut play along with the track.

Hmm i loved it, there is a point where trent pushes the glass of the pin thing, and it's just great....some of the shots are sloppy as sh!t though.

To me the song is about trent getting delirious, the vid doesn't really show that, which is kind of annoying....but it's pretty MTV friendly, which might be what trent wanted, however hypocrytical that may be.

Yeah, thats what bugged me. His work in the past has been dark and (dare i say it) grungy. (look at Se7en, Fight CLub and Judith video for some really dark looking sets.). This just seems too friendly.

But it still looks great, but just not a lot to it.

And jake, i've not seen any links or sites where those are availble, so cant help you. Im interested in hearing them too, but its not urgent

How do you mute the guitar in powertab? You guys should work on a cover of Schism.

Adam Jones is GOD 07-10-2005 03:57 PM
How do you mute the guitar in powertab? You guys should work on a cover of Schism.
Remove the guitar from the tab

Guitar > Guitar In, make sure its not ticked at the start of the score.

Do that with any guitar in the score, there's usually more than 1.

Heh, this is really funny. I was recording and all of the sudden this thing said that Audacity needed to shut down and I had gotten everything timewise fixed and the second verse recorded so I got really mad. Well I threw the mic on the ground and now I can't find it.

EDIT: Ok, found it. Whew....

Rothmans 07-10-2005 04:30 PM

Can you use powertab to make your own tab?

audicity saves everything even if you loose electricity or anything.Very smart thing to add to it

Moses 07-10-2005 04:33 PM

It didn't save what I had.

I got Cool Edit Pro loaded on my new HP Notebook ( :D ) so Lateralus should be done soon. I'm thinking about just re-doing it. It won't really take me that long to re-do.

It needed a few improvements anyways. ;)
