I think The Scarecrow is my favorite Syd song
|
Lucifer Sam is nice :)
|
Jugband Blues. Best Syd song. Hands down.
|
Pow R Toc H and Astronomy Domine are my fav Syd songs. Personally, I've always gotten a really positive vibe from Syd's songs.
I picked up On an Island last night, great album; Gilmour hasn't lost a thing. Some of the slide solos sound straigh from Echoes.
I just picked up on an Island and I love it. Its brilliant stuff. |

That was the first Syd song I heard, I thought it rather odd at first and didn't like it. Great song though. I want On An Island so bad, all I've heard is the title track and it's great. |

I was impressed with it. I can't wait to hear him do some of them live. You know one of my problems with some of Gilmour's post Waters Floyd years is it almost sounds sometimes like hes trying to prove that he was as good Pink Floyd was in their prime. This sounds like he abandoned that compleatly and just played his heart out. In other words this is the first post Roger Floyd album he realsed (solo or with the other Floyd members) that I really felt was his own. |

So yeah, I finally watched The Wall for the first time the other day. Wasn't anywhere near as trippy as people go on about. I mean, some parts were pretty abstract but if you already understand the ideas behind the music, it's quite clear. It's really just the album in pictures. I quite liked it! It was bold and original! PS - Got TDB on high rotation atm. Talk about underrated. |

PS - Got TDB on high rotation atm. Talk about underrated.
Music wise it's one of the great floyd albums there is, I guess it's nr 3 on my list of best floyd albums only outclassed by WYWH and DSOTM |
Wasn't anywhere near as trippy as people go on about.
The only really trippy part is the animation sequences, other than that it's just sort of odd and freaky. I hate the part where he shaves his nipples and eye brows off. |

PS - Got TDB on high rotation atm. Talk about underrated.
Indeed; it really is great, some of Gilmour's guitar work is great .. my favourites on the album have to be Poles Apart and Coming Back To Life. However, it just doesn't have a Pink Floyd feel to it ... it's such a shame that Waters' was an arrogant so and so :p, or else they would have had a couple more decades of their great 70's stuff. NP - Fearless, love the lyrics to this, awesome ... |

Today is the 33rd anniversary of Dark Side Of The Moon. |

Roger and Dave both have massive egos, I just think people are more disposed to Dave because he never spat on a fan.
NP - Fearless, love the lyrics to this, awesome ...
Great lyrics for a great song, hehe. |
I love Coming Back to Life. Kind of random but I just listened to it and decided it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The guitarwork at the beginning is so beautiful and amazing. It almost rivals SOYCD's amazing opening.
|
2 days till David Gilmour, gehe and they will play: SOYCD, WYWH, Echoes, Comfortably Numb, Breathe, Time wooh oo I'm so excited
|
have a cigar is the best song by pink floyd in my view. the guitar work in that song is brilliant

I am so jealous it's actually incomprehensible. |

So I picked up Obscurred By Clouds the other day, I really like it so far. 666! |
Okay I just came back form Gilmour's concert
the setlist: On an island pause shine on wotz uhm the deal fat old sun coming back to life time+breathe reprise high hopes echoes encore wish you were here comfortably numb *is so cool* |
That was an early concert
By the way, you suck and are gay and a faggot and I hope you burn in the 8th circle of hell, the one usually reserved for gay pedophiles and Eric Bauman and get raped by huge-schlonged demons for all of eternity. :( Seriously, the simple fact that he played Wot's Uh The Deal makes me so jealous of you it hurts. Plus Echoes and all that other gobbledygook. |

What does everyone think of the Final Cut? I bought it last week and was really impressed with it. I've only ever really heard negative things about it, but I loved it.
|
Negative things? Where have you been hiding? Anyway, I think that album is absolutly fantastic! Top 4 :)
By the way, anybody heard the new David Gilmour album? Even though I'm not a very big fan of Gilmour, I consider to bye this album. EDIT; Maybe you have allready talked about it, I haven't been here in a while. |
does anyone have a copy of dub side of the moont hey could YSI/email me?

To be honest, it's probally my favorite album. The lyrics just.. I dunno I really like the lyrics, plus the album reminds me of my dad a lot, he's the one who got me into Floyd WITH that album, I remember me and him listening to it a lot. |
I like it a lot, despite it being almost a solo album by Roger. It's full of catchy rock songs and brilliant lyrics, and while it might not be the quintessential Pink Floyd, it has enough of their essence for me to enjoy it greatly.
|
I like The Final Cut as well. There are some quality songs on that cd.
|
On TFC, Roger just shines with his lyrics. They have so much emotion and meaning.
Speaking of emotion.. Gilmour .. Wow his solos on this album are emotionally on the same level, if not ABOVE (not by much) Comfortably Numb. |
Sorrow is on the Final Cut, is it not?
I love that bit at the beginnig, with the awesome guitar parts. |
That's from A Momentary Laps Of Reason
|
Well this man's next purchase is going to be The Final Cut, without a shadow of a doubt. I've been putting it off for too long.
