My best of that I made about 3 years ago was probably more in the vein of their general greatest hits, not personal preference. The list is :
1.Killing In The Name
2.Bombtrack
3.Bullet in the Head
4.Wake Up
5.Know Your Enemy
6.People of the Sun
7.Bulls on Parade
8.Tire Me
9.Down Rodeo
10.Guerilla Radio
11.Testify
12.Sleep Now in the Fire
13.No Shelter
14.Renegades of Funk
15.How I Could Just Kill a Man
16.The Ghost of Tom Joad
17.Kick Out The Jams
18.Freedom

I now realise 'Kick Out The Jams' shouldn't have been included, but it's a fairly short track, and I couldn't replace it with the likes of 'Vietnow', 'Take The Power Back' or 'Born of a Broken Man', due to the time. That's a pretty solid compilation right there IMO.
I mixed the songs up so that they aren't in the CD order so they don't lose their 'feel.' Like I needed something explosive to start it so I went with Bulls. and needed something in the middle so I went with Maggie's Farm.

Bullet in the Head

Microphone Fiend
People of the Sun
Ashes in the Fall
No Shelter

Darkness 08-29-2005 10:34 AM

In other words, every song? :p

Static 08-29-2005 10:34 AM

Pretty much :p

How much were they? I'm trying to get the $48 ones. I wanted the floor but they sold out a little while ago :upset:

Darkness 08-29-2005 03:20 PM

Floor tickets sold in 3 min here... thus I could only get 47.50 dollar seat tickets, which are still decent.

For a band like Audioslave seat tickets wouldnt matter as much to me because you dont get the same amount of energy as you would at a Rage show anyway. As long as I had a nice view of Morello.

Darkness 08-29-2005 11:03 PM

Morello has just as much energy as he did with rage dude, trust me.

Endless Obsession 08-29-2005 11:23 PM
Morello has just as much energy as he did with rage dude, trust me.
No, its not that. Its just Chris has no where near as much ability to get the crowd as alive as Zakk did. In all the DVD's I have seen of Rage, the whole crowd is jumping up and down the whole time. "Like a Stone" doesnt get me jumping.

Darkness 08-29-2005 11:32 PM

Agreed, Zack could get huge air during his performances, plus he had a reason to be angry unlike most other bands out there right now. I have a performance of Bombtrack where he jumps, but doesn't land it and twists his ankle.

BeaZ 08-30-2005 12:48 AM

You gotta admit though it would be hard to jump to "Like A Stone" under any circumstances. Zack's vocals sounded bouncy and had a fast paced rhythm to them so jumping was just so easy.

Mambuto_O'Mally 08-30-2005 09:46 AM

But you still got to put something into the preformances. I still think that Cornell should strap on a guitar and play some rythym guitar. I think that would be cool, even though they have two different styles.

Yeah, I would love for Cornell to play a bigger part in the song writing process, he is a good songwriter and he's not being used to his full potential in Audioslave.

Actally he plays guitar on I Am The Highway and that might explain why alot of people who seem to hate Audioslave like that song. :)

 thats like half there songs right there. It's supposed to be limited to like 12-15 songs.

frmautumTOashes 08-30-2005 11:02 AM

I wanna hear Chris Cornell and Audioslave do some Rage covers. I know they do that plus Soundgarden songs, but I've never heard them.

Chris sounded so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so BAD.

It was awful.

-Guitarded- 08-30-2005 02:08 PM

Sounds bad. I don't think they should do covers. Zach is gone, they should just let it go.

ride_the_bliksem 08-30-2005 02:11 PM

I never heard the rage-cover, but imo Chris is a great singer and writer. Audioslave in general is pretty cool.

I Am a Hat 08-30-2005 02:16 PM

I have two concert videos where they do 'Sleep Now in the Fire' and 'Killing in the Name' in both. They sound so horrible with Chris singing. The soundgarden covers are really good though.

i actally like that song....

Mambuto_O'Mally 08-30-2005 05:35 PM

I've heard original versions of Beautiful World and Maggie's Farm, and I prefer the RATM versions, because the feel suits the songs better, IMO.

dylweed 08-30-2005 05:47 PM

my favorite rage album would be the battle of LA, its a flawless rock album, although they have never put out one that disappointed me. one of my all time favorite bands, sad they seperated but hey then we'd have no audioslave right?

Darkness 08-30-2005 10:00 PM

I didn't mind Audioslaves rage covers... I think Cornell did the best to his ability. Considering how different his style is to Zacks, I think he did ok, and I hope they don't stop covering.

Endless Obsession 08-30-2005 10:53 PM

I heard "How I could just kill a man" on San Andreas. Its decent, but Rage's version is great.

I've jumped off so many ramps with that song blairing in that game

Mambuto_O'Mally 09-02-2005 09:00 PM

So... I did some reading on the members of the band. I'm surprised how old Tom really is. :amaze:

Shaft! 09-02-2005 11:08 PM

I was surprised at how old he was when he started playing guitar. I believe he was 17. He really did well for himself, didn't he? I heard he learned fairly fast as well.

Darkness 09-03-2005 12:02 AM

He practiced 8 hours a day while going to Harvard. Talk about a hard worker. And yeah, hes 41 since last May.

DuncMaster 09-03-2005 10:27 AM
He practiced 8 hours a day while going to Harvard. Talk about a hard worker. And yeah, hes 41 since last May.
8 hours of practicing guitar, and the rest of the day to study at Harvard...Fck me!

CombatRock 09-03-2005 01:00 PM

Im sure yall have seen the video for Sleep Now in the Fire. My question is, were they really getting arrested and like told to stop, or are those cops in it just actors?

Shaft! 09-03-2005 01:08 PM

Excellent question, I shall search for your answer...and it is yes. They actually did shut down Wall Street.
Moore was arrested, so I can only assume the band members were too. Excellent video.
Interesting fact: Morello's amp was picking up a Korean radio station at the end of the song and they had to fade it out.

Janitor 09-03-2005 01:32 PM

Another interesting fact: They were originally going to play that radio station throughout the background of the entire song.

I'm glad they changed their minds.

Darkness 09-03-2005 03:11 PM

Tom used a pedal to get those radio stations actually, he found some strange pedal at the studio and messed with it and got those signals.
