lol..."so it is of high importance that you buy as many noise-making chains, plaid patches, and any other Hot Topic clothing as possible. But please remember, collared shirts are only acceptable if they are faded, a plain color, or striped with big bold stripes of two colors."

Alex had a blackthorn walking stick. It may be called a bhata in Irish. It's a traditional Irish walkingstick/weapon, made popular from 1850's-1920's in huge brawls at wakes and weddings. You can find them on ebay but they're expensive. I don't think the cane he used and the sword cane he had in one scene were the same one at all . . .

GCSux 02-22-2005 10:32 PM

I made a studded belt from my mom's stuff. It sucked though so I bought one at pacsun instead

asdf 02-22-2005 10:45 PM

I started making more band patches like I've done before. They're so much work though, because I use a really tidius technique where I cut my own stencils. Still, fun way to waste time.

My mom gave me a book about making your own posters, because it also has a chapter on silk screening. I'll be sure to check that out.

My DIY story. I got a dark blue denim vest for christmas. Soaked it in bleach overnight, making it pretty light. Cover it in poatches, some handmade, some bought. Bought some pins, threw em on, drew on it some, covered the rest in studs. Ill post pics later.

asdf 02-24-2005 09:57 AM

Allrighty, here's my DIY stuff.

I have a button maker, and I usually sell my buttons for a dollar, but I also use it just to make buttons for myself. Here's some of the buttons I've made. Most of these suck, though.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/buttons.jpg

I also make my own patches. The way I do this is I print out the image that I want from my computer onto some cardboard-ish material. Then I cut the image like a stencil and use fabric paint. Fabric paint pens work a lot better then just bottles of fabric paint, but they run out much faster.
Here's some of the patches that I have finished:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/patches.jpg
And here's the patches that I haven't finished yet:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/mrbungle.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/portishead.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/toasters.jpg

I also make my own tie-dye, but that's mostly just for selling. Right now it's my only income.

I also made a tire mark shirt by putting fabric paint on cardboard, running over the cardboard and then rolling back. Then I place the shirt under the tire, roll over it and back. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/tireshirt.jpg
I got the idea from this picture of my mom and her friends back in the day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/the80s.jpg

And here's some pants that my mom made. apparently they were black when she first made them. They're really worn out now. Quite risky to wear. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/pants1.jpg

How think of a cardboard do you use? I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but I don't know what to use to make the stencil out of.

how big are those? centimeters or inches? i'd totally buy one, except i have a pin-making contraption but the pins are fricken an inch and a half...
im gonna use photo paper to make patches now! (the stiff stuff)

EDIT: i'd do the streetlight but i want to try something with a stencil and i think it'd be a little hard

dkm4life010 02-26-2005 09:00 PM
How think of a cardboard do you use? I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but I don't know what to use to make the stencil out of.
It doesn't have to be all that thick. More like extra thick paper than cardboard is what I use. Since I design the stuff on the computer (or just print the logo off from the computer) I don't want to use something that's too thick to go through the printer.

The thing is, if you are just going to draw the image you want to cut freehand, you might want to use something as thick as regular cardboard, because my stencils get ruined if I use them more then once, usually. I guess it depends how detailed the stencil is.
